15+ quirky gadgets for your desk — and yes, they’re actually really useful for work
I'm a self-confessed gadget-man, and I've picked some of the best office gadgets and cool desk accessories
I absolutely adore gadgets. I can't help myself - if it clicks, ticks, flips, whirs, flashes, or shifts, then I find myself falling in love all over again. So, as a self-confessed gadget-man, I couldn't resist picking out some of the best office gadgets and cool desk accessories that add some real personality (and practicality) to your workspace.
And just to prove the point, after finding 15 quirky gadgets that are actually useful, I went and found a further 9 bonus items I just had to include - perfect whether you're adding a bit of flair to your workspace or looking for gifts for a home office set-up. . As part of this round-up, I've added a range of cool office desk gadgets from a desk mat with a wireless charger to an undetectable mouse jiggler that the boss definitely doesn't need to know about. This is the gear I'd absolutely put in my workspace if my wife hadn't hidden the credit card again.
My highlight of this round-up has to be the Ugreen 65W GaN Fast charger block. It's one of those really practical gadgets that just looks cool. I mean, just look at that face on the screen. He's so happy, he's begging you to pop a USB cable or three into his head.

Update: Here are 9 extra quirky office gadgets I spotted while I was window-shopping on Amazon just for fun. Rocketbook's reusable notebook, letting you digitize handwritten notes, is an interesting one. And I love that mini PC-style speaker, which lets you add photos or create and upload your own pixel artwork to the screen.
Why I chose these cool office gadgets
I had three key areas of focus when selecting these quirky gadgets: they look cool, they combine tools, and they help you stay productive at work.
First up, the Ugreen Uno charger block - this was my first choice because, well, look at that little face. But more importantly, it's a GaN (or Gallium Nitride) charger, which are smaller and produces less heat.
I really like the swivel laptop stand, which is useful for its flexibility compared to stationary models - ideal if, like me, you shift into different positions at your desk or you're collaborating with others and want to show colleagues your screen.
I've included a number of audio devices here, including a phone stand with Bluetooth speaker (a nice 2-in-1 device), clip-on computer speakers, a headphone stand with USB ports, and a retro PC-style speaker with custom screen. The main reason I chose these were because they're serious space-savers (I don't know about you, but my desk gets cluttered fast).
That was the main thrust of many of the cool gadgets in this list - standalone units that perform two or more tasks and cut down on the clutter. So, there's the wooden clock with USB ports (with loads of info on the face), desk mat with a built-in wireless charger, the USB port-equipped LED desk lamp, and the foldable charging stand for Apple devices. And just to keep everything clean, I added the compressed air duster (way more cost-effective than buying cans of air) and the desktop vacuum cleaner - because nothing's worse than a dusty workspace.
On the flip side, since I can't resist gadgets that just do things differently. I mean, no-one really needs a hover pen, but I absolutely want one on my desk. Alongside that, I've included an Ai desktop companion, which is great for those working from home alone, Gravastar's transparent mouse, a buildable fidget pen, undetectable mouse jiggler (don't tell the boss), and the rotating pomodoro timer - a focus technique I absolutely swear by.
Specifically for work or study, I think the Rocketbook is a clever way to digitize handwritten notes you can view on your computer or phone. And it's a lot cheaper than a handwriting tablet like the Kindle Scribe or reMarkable Paper Pure.
I'd always recommend a mechanical keyboard if you're typing a lot at work, but add in a cool board design and little screen and it just seems even cooler. Then couple that with the 2-key copy-and-paste that helps speed up plenty of workflows.
