I've been testing and writing about office chairs for 7+ years, having testing some of the best office chairs in Australia in that time. And if there's one thing I've learnt is that you don't have to spend a four-figure sum to get yourself the best seat in the house.

It's one of the reasons why I think the Steelcase Series 2 is the best office chair for most people. Sure, at full price it costs AU$1,199, but thankfully, Steelcase is shaving a flat 25% off its top-rated chairs for the occasion.

That brings the "incredibly comfortable" Series 2 chair down to just AU$899.25 — when you use the code FUTURE2026 — which is excellent value in my books for a chair that not only offers good ergonomics for most users, but also looks rather good in my humble opinion.

The best office chair that we've tested that would suit most people, the Series 2 is a no-fuss seat offering supreme comfort to help you stay focused on the task at hand. Earning 4.5 stars in our Steelcase Series 2 review, we loved how customisable its support was, as well as the breathability of its mesh. Use the code FUTURE2026 at checkout to get this deal.

The Steelcase Series 2 wins when it comes to all-round comfort without compromising too much on ergonomics. When one of my colleagues reviewed it, we were sent the Task Chair version of the Series 2 and our tester loved its elegant design which, by the way, comes in a few different colour options to suit your personality or your home-office setup. You can also opt for an additional headrest if you need one.

Adjustments are intuitive and easy to reach, although I have to note that the recline angle doesn't lock in place, instead shifting back to upright. This is an intentional design element, though, as the Series 2 backrest moves automatically as you recline. This, however, doesn't affect the chair's ergonomics and won't cause back issues.

The Series 2 isn't the only Steelcase chair my colleagues and I like. There are a fair few and they're all discounted by 25% ahead of Black Friday. I've listed some of my other favourite alternatives below, most of which we've reviewed ourselves.

If you're spending hours at your desk for work, this is a great opportunity to invest in a high-quality seat. Opting for a well-designed ergonomic chair doesn't just impact your body, it can also improve your productivity. So go on, treat yourself or a loved one to a good WFH setup.

Steelcase Series 1
Save AU$219.75
Steelcase Series 1: was AU$879 now AU$659.25 at Steelcase US

While I think the Series 2 listed above is the better buy, it could still be a little beyond your budget. If so, consider the Series 1, but it's best suited to users with smaller builds as it is a slightly more compact chair than the Series 2. Its lumbar support is basic, meaning it doesn't offer as good ergonomics as its successor model. However, for its price, it's a good chair if you don't already suffer from musculo-skeletal issues. Steelcase Think
Save AU$357.25
Steelcase Think: was AU$1,429 now AU$1,071.75 at Steelcase US

This chair does the thinking for you when it comes to making adjustments. It features weight-triggered automatic adjustments that it can remember, but an under-seat dial gives you four options to choose from that control both recline and backrest tension. Seat depth is also adjustable and its executive good looks make it an ideal chair to show off. Use the code FUTURE2026 at checkout to get this deal.

Steelcase Leap
Save 25% (AU$444.75)
Steelcase Leap: was AU$1,779 now AU$1,334.25 at Steelcase US

This chair prioritises comfort and adjustability, and is our pick for anyone whose derrière prefers thick cushioning rather than a mesh net. It also uses a flexible S-shaped backrest with separate upper and lower sections that move independently to mirror the spine. Its dynamic seat glides forward as you recline, easing pressure on the lumbar vertebrae. So it's just as good for those with back issues. Its RRP makes it a little hard to recommend, but a 25% discount is hard to pass up. Use the code FUTURE2026 at checkout to get this deal.

Steelcase Karman
Save 25% (AU$474.75)
Steelcase Karman: was AU$1,899 now AU$1,424.25 at Steelcase US

The Karman is unique in that its frame is pretty much a single piece. It also doesn't have too many manual adjustment points because it's designed to mould around the body in real time as you move or wriggle around. The mesh is high quality, making it very breathable and long-lasting, feeling more like cloth than plastic. The only real drawback we could find in our Steelcase Karman review was its price, which this deal helps with. Use the code FUTURE2026 at checkout to get this deal.

Steelcase Gesture
Save 25% (AU$524.75)
Steelcase Gesture: was AU$2,099 now AU$1,574.25 at Steelcase US

We fell in love with this chair's armrests in our Steelcase Gesture review, which offer some of the best adjustability options we've ever seen. Its sturdy build and several points of adjustment make it a great all-round option. However, while it has premium looks, its cushioned back doesn't offer as much breathability as mesh, and its lumbar support could arguably be stronger. If those aspects aren't key to your work setup, it's a comfy chair with great executive looks. Use the code FUTURE2026 at checkout to get this deal.
