For World Backup Day, my team and I have been on the hunt for top deals on storage - and this is the USB flash drive I swear by. SanDisk's Ultra Flair may not be fancy, it's not ultra-fast like a portable SSD, but it's sleek, comes in a range of capacities, and for backing up files and photos, it's performed absolutely brilliantly in my experience.
In the US, the SanDisk Ultra Flair 128GB USB drive is now $16.46 (was $17.88) at Amazon.
Coming from one of the top storage-makers, the SanDisk Ultra Flair is a simple storage device for reliable backups.
I've had no issues with it since I bought it, and it's currently tucked safely away, stuffed full of all manner of documents (and yes, they're all backed up on two different cloud storage platforms, too).
Speeds are good, at 150 MB/s using USB 3.0. Ok, it's not breaking any land-speed records, but SanDisk estimates you can "transfer a full-length movie in less than 30 seconds." And, honestly, for .docx files and the like, I've found it more than fast enough for my needs.
When it comes to storage capacity, the model ranges between 16GB right up to 1TB (which is $150 at Amazon.com and £151 at Amazon.co.uk).
As an inveterate deal-hunter, I've looked around and can't find the same drive cheaper than Amazon (and if you do, buy it). For some reason, Best Buy are selling the 64GB model for an eye-watering $51, while Walmart has the 128GB drive for $25.
In the UK, that 64GB version is still more expensive than the 128GB model, costing £18 at Currys, with Argos selling the 128GB drive for £24.
What really sealed the deal for me when shopping for USB pen drives was that this one offers secure file encryption and password protection when you use SanDisk's SecureAccess software.
