Crimson Desert has taken the gaming world by storm this year, dominating discussion during its build-up, at its release, and even now weeks after it has come out. Fans are piling hours and hours into the vast world and having a superb time finding secrets, progressing the story, and trying to devour everything on offer world.
Our reviewer of the game, Isaiah, has been a committed for a long time and has spent north of 160 hours to it now. Part of Isaiah's chat about the game with colleagues has been on how it shares some of the best things about other open-world behemoth video games such as Red Dead Redemption 2, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, and even Shadow of the Colossus and Ghost of Yotei.
I asked him what other games he would recommend if players are looking for more of that Crimson Desert-esque open-world itch to scratch, and the below is what we've come up with.
These recommendations span the spectrum of 'similarities', so to speak: some will be recommended based on their offering of a wonderful open world with loads to do and find out in the broadest sense, while some are recommended because of a specific part or feature that they have in common with Crimson Desert. As a result, there's a range of adventures, across a range of platforms, but all ones that we recommend trying out if you've loved or are loving Crimson Desert.
If you're yet to jump into Crimson Desert, we've included that below as well to get the open-world adventure ball rolling.
