SNKRX

($2.99/£2.99/AU$4.49)

SNKRX is a bit like the Snake game found on ancient mobile phones – if the wriggly reptile was heavily armed and dumped into an arena shooter featuring dozens of death-dealing adversaries, thereby echoing classic video game Robotron.

Only you’re not initially armed to the teeth, which is a problem. At first, your snake – technically a string of ‘heroes’ – is short and underpowered. You must use dexterity to weave between projectiles and blow your enemies away. Doing so earns you the cash you need to upgrade on between-level power-up screens.

It’s here that SNKRX comes into its own, offering a huge range of heroes to add to your snake, providing limitless opportunities for revising your strategy. With excellent controls (joystick or two-button with auto-fire), smartly designed progression and a superb soundtrack, this Snake update is a blast.
