We liked

A multifunction printer that folds up as neatly as this will be welcome in almost any office. It’s small enough to fit in a filing cabinet drawer, and its flat top is fine for piling papers on top.

It’s also inexpensive to buy and affordable to run with the excellent Eco mode using up to 30% less ink to deliver pages that look good enough for the majority of printing tasks.

We found the Verité 65 Plus one of the easiest printers to set up and operate too. The helpful onscreen display walks you through the process and buttons on the side make it easy to adjust the print quality. The companion app, called Kodak Verité, actually makes it rather fun to print and scan.

We experienced no paper jams during our testing and the printer correctly identified the types of paper we put into its tray.

We disliked

Being a budget model, there’s no media card slot for printing photos straight from your camera’s memory card, and the lack of an Ethernet port could be an issue for some office setups. There’s no facility for printing business cards either and the paper tray is limited to holding just 100 sheets of plain paper.

This isn’t the fastest desktop printer either and it’ll take at least five minutes to print five pages of a colour document – and colour printing is not the forte of the Verité 65 Plus. The combined colour cartridge is perhaps to blame for the slightly below average quality of colour photos. Too much red ink gives your snaps an oversaturated look.

Final verdict

The compact, foldaway design has instant appeal and if you don’t want to waste time working out how to print a document, this simple and logical MFP is one of the easiest to use.

Although its colour printing performance left a little to be desired and its churn of pages is rather slow, this cost-effective printer has its advantages. The main one is cost, as both the asking price and refill cartridges are comparatively cheap. Another big plus is the commendable Eco print function, which saves ink without overly compromising your print quality.
