If you're a serious bass head then this system is going to disappoint you, and it's clear that Teufel has aimed at fidelity over rump shaking bass, but there's plenty of 2.1 systems which will sate your appetite for a headache.

The lack of bass thump also meant that the Concept B 200 system isn't a fantastic gaming system. Without those rumbles of bass your experience isn't going to be as atmospheric as a Creative 5.1 system.

We liked:

The build quality of the Teufel Concept B 200 is superb. The control unit in particular has been packed with some serious audio technology. Not only does it offer fantastic definition and an even balance between high and low frequencies, it's a really cool way of controlling music on your desk.

The versatility of the Concept B 200 is also a huge selling point. Many people will have their PC near CD players, MP3 players or similar devices, which can be connected to the control unit for an integrated and high quality experience.

The quality of the amplification is exceptional, and if you're looking for a 2.0 system, then don't settle for less than the Concept B 200.

We didn't like:

We were a little underwhelmed by the bass output of the Concept B 200's, and were often left wanting for more kick. Those who aren't fans of pounding bass lines will doubtlessly appreciate the even balance achieved between frequencies, but this isn't the system to get a party started.

The price is high for a 2.0 system, and there are some great 2.1 systems on offer for similar money. However, the build quality and audio technology on display here is head and shoulders above most systems, and the price fairly reflects that.

Teufel has missed out on the opportunity to include iPod or iPhone compatibility. The inclusion of a docking station would have kicked a lot of sub-standard iPod docks into touch, and offered serious rivalry to the valve-amp and B&W docks on the market.

Verdict:

Music fans looking for a fantastic desktop system should seriously consider the Teufel Concept B 200 system. While it's lacking some punch in the bass department, there's no better 2.0 system for music in this price range in terms of connectivity and sound quality.

Choosing between this and the meaty Razor Mako 2.1 system is a tough choice, but one that's guaranteed not to end in disappointment.
