We liked

The BX100 is affordable, bringing the cost of an SSD upgrade right down. In fact, you can find the top capacity 1TB model pitched as low as £300 online ($400 in the US, which is around AU$530), making it one of the cheapest going.

Although performance isn't amazing, in real-world use you won't notice much of a difference between the BX100 and a more expensive drive.

We disliked

It has to be said, though, that this drive is pitched at roughly the same launch price as the MX100, when it performs slightly worse and offers fewer features. The BX100 lacks power-loss protection and has no AES 256-bit hardware encryption.

Final verdict

The BX100 is one of the most affordable SSDs around, and has no major weakness. In real-world use, you're unlikely to notice any real difference between this model and a more expensive SSD in terms of performance, too.
