Assassin's Creed Odyssey review diary: killing time in Ancient Greece

I'll be honest, I planned on writing a full week's diary on Assassin's Creed but, at this point, it's become quite difficult. Not because there's not enough content, but because I don't want to spoil any of the main storyline (and Ubisoft won't let us).

In the interest of time, I tried to progress as much throughout the main storyline as possible throughout the week – as I felt that was potentially the most efficient way to spend my time. Although I'm not liberated to tell you what happens following your interaction with the Wolf, what I can say is that this is the point when things begin to spice up and Odyssey starts to really find its stride. Even if it took around eight hours to get there.

As you progress further, layers of the story begin to peel away, revealing something which isn't solely based on dramatic twists but a well-researched depiction of Ancient Greece, its history and mythology.

Assassin's Creed Odyssey

Verdict: play it now

While the sheer volume of content in Odyssey can be extremely overwhelming and, at times intimidating, it is truly a beautiful game which captures the turbulent, superstitious but captivating times of ancient Greece alongside the stealthy action we've come to expect from the Assassin's Creed franchise.

Exploring the lands of man and myths has been occasionally exhausting but always intriguing. Just be aware that, if you plan on taking on the Odyssey, you better be prepared for the long haul.
