Top 3 reasons why the Huawei P30 Pro still remains the flagship champion

Back in April, Huawei released the P30 Pro which proved to be their most ambitious handset yet. It built on last year’s P20 Pro to deliver an even better camera setup, more powerful hardware and an even more dazzling gradient design.

Since then, we’ve seen several major Android flagships make their way into the market but they all fall short in one area or another. The P30 Pro is right on the money when it comes to the essentials offering zippy performance and an incredible battery life, but it goes beyond the essentials, making sure that it stands out in every smartphone department.

Here are the top three reasons why it’s the best complete overall Android flagship around today.

Striking design that we can’t get enough of

With a solid glass build and curved edges, the P30 Pro is one of the most attractive phones out there that feels great in the hand.

Huawei’s gradient color scheme from last year was a big hit and set an industry trend but the P30 Pro takes it one step further. It extends Huawei’s color spectrum and adds distinct shimmer effects that reflect light shifts on the back depending on the phone’s angle.

It’s an eye-catching design and unique in its own right, making it stand out in a sea of Android phones that follow the same old industrial designs.

There’s plenty of color variants to choose from as well. The recently launched Pearl White adds a sense of movement to a monotone color that’s inspired by floating clouds and salt flats to create a refined and elegant look. At IFA 2019, Huawei introduced two more colors, Misty Lavender and Mystic Blue, that bring a two-tone design on the rear with a reflective look on the top part and a brushed metal effect on the bottom section.

If that doesn’t color your fancy you still have plenty to pick from. Whether it’s the understated Black, the bold Amber Sunrise or the strong gradients found in Aurora and the popular Breathing Crystal, there’s something to fit everyone’s style.

The most versatile camera setup backed by powerful hardware

But the key strength of the P30 Pro lies in its camera setup. It’s the world’s first Leica branded quad-camera array and the most diverse camera system on a smartphone. The images captured form the P30 Pro are stunning and some of the best we’ve ever seen.

This is largely due to the flexibility and technical superiority of the 40MP main camera with Huawei SuperSpectrum sensor, a 20MP Ultra-Wide angle camera, an 8MP telephoto camera with SuperZoom and the Huawei Time of Flight (ToF) camera for rich bokeh effects.

Each lens serves a unique purpose and can be used in different ways and under any lighting condition to produce the best shot. Video looks great on the P30 Pro as well and users can get creative with Dual-View feature that allows users to capture multiple perspectives of the same scene - such as close-up and wide-angle - at the same time.

However, the camera is just one of the examples of powerful hardware on the P30 Pro. The phone is powered by Huawei’s top of the line Kirin 980 chipset which brings efficient performance and helps the camera take great shots thanks to the on-board AI.

It’s coupled with 8GB of RAM which means that the phone never slows down and can handle all kinds of multi-tasking while running demanding apps. Gamers will love the elevated performance and enhanced graphics possible by GPU Turbo 3.0.

And media fans will love the gorgeous 6.47-inch OLED acoustic display with a tiny dew drop notch and minimal bezels that make it perfect for long periods of immersive entertainment and gaming

Powering the flagship is a massive 4,200 mac which breezes through a day of heavy use and carries charge to a second day. And when you run out of juice, the built-in quick charge feature can get you to 70% in just 30 minutes. There’s also support for 15W wireless charging if you don’t want to bother with cables.

User-centric features for the ultimate premium experience

Looking good and having powerful hardware mean nothing if a phone can’t provide a user experience to match. With the P30 Pro, Huawei’s committed to making the user experience as smooth and pleasant as possible so that users can get things done without the phone getting in the way.

To that extent, Huawei has packed in a bunch of useful features to make life easy for their users. There’s a super quick in-screen fingerprint scanner that allows you to secure your phone and unlock it in no time. The acoustic screen is another great feature that projects sound vibrations from the display and essentially acts as a second speaker.

But the key to P30 Pro’s smooth user experience is Huawei’s revamped and feature-laden EMUI 10 which will roll out first on the P30 Pro. EMUI 10 is Huawei’s unique take on Android 10 and vastly improves upon the previous version for the most premium user experience. It uses thoughtfully designed UI elements that are easy on the eyes, re-designed animations that make flicking and swiping feel more responsive and fluid and software optimization techniques that make sure performance doesn’t come at the cost of battery life.

There are a lot of Android flagships out there but when it comes to providing a complete package nothing comes close to the P30 Pro.
