Souq.com delivered its first order in Dubai 13 years back and has evolved into the biggest e-commerce player in the UAE. That attracted the attention of Amazon which bough souq.com and today is finally the day where souq.com closes and amazon.ae launches.
While the transition was very visible over the last few months in the much improved customer service and returns as well as amazon branded packaging and delivery vans, it is now official.
According to the website, amazon.ae will feature over 30 million products from global sellers- five million of which are from Amazon US. Customers will be able to shop in Arabic as well as English and a regional team of 3,600 people will keep things moving.
