Rumors based on recent Portuguese retailer listings suggest we could see a potential £80 / $100 price tag for the standard edition, but there's still no confirmation.

At the very least, we can predict that Rockstar's blockbuster title will hit the £70 region. Regardless, there's bound to be an influx of console users looking for the best way to save on gaming's biggest event in 2026 — and if you're a PS5 user, you're in luck.

Welcome back to Vice City, gamers! Rockstar Games has officially released the artwork for Grand Theft Auto 6 in a new trailer, and we're all in agreement here at TechRadar Gaming that it's "pretty great".

It has Grand Theft Auto Vice City Stories' pop-art comic-book style in the same neon Miami-inspired art deco setting, but with new characters and a pink hue that brings it all together. It uses the same GTA collage art style with the multi-panel grid, so it's no real departure from what we've come to know the franchise for.

Rockstar Games has released a new Grand Theft Auto 6 teaser, but it's perhaps not the kind that you might have expected.

Rather than showing us new GTA 6 gameplay, the video gives us our first look at the game's official cover art and, in my eyes, it's pretty slick. The design follows the same general style as the Grand Theft Auto 5 cover, with lots of little panels containing character vignettes.

It features dual protagonists Jason Duval and Lucia Caminos in a prominent position, surrounded by iconography inspired by the Vice City setting and traditional GTA staples. There are plenty of guns, of course, alongside Florida animals such as a flamingo and an alligator.

The cover art isn't exactly breaking any series conventions, but in my opinion it looks pretty great. I feel like the pink and purple hues really captures those almost tropical Vice City vibes. It looks pleasantly retro, but also appropriately modern and slick.

If you're a big fan of the look, Rockstar Games has already posted a high resolution version of the graphic to its website so that you can download it to use as a desktop or phone wallpaper.

The website also offers a square version of the cover art, which might provide our first look at how the game's icon will appear on PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X and Series S menus.

The trailer, which only lasts for just over 30 seconds, ends with an official pre-order date reveal. We now know that they will start on June 25, 2026 "on digital storefronts and at other select retailers."

Unfortunately, there's no sign of a price anywhere, so it looks like we'll only learn that info when pre-orders officially begin next week.

The reveal comes just days after Take-Two Interactive CEO Strauss Zelnick once again confirmed that GTA 6 will release on November 19, 2026. He said that the wait has been so long because the team at Rockstar "seek to do something that’s never been done before."

Speaking with CNBC's Jim Cramer earlier this year, Zelnick confirmed that there are "marketing beats coming this summer" to promote GTA 6. "We don't spend money on marketing until we're pretty close to release," he said at the time.

This cover art reveal presumably signals the start of final marketing efforts as we near release, so I would keep your eyes peeled for further trailers and news soon.

An automotive parts and tuning company, Burger Motorsports, has released an internal notice stating that it will hold a temporary 'company-wide operational pause' on November 19, as several team members won't be available once GTA 6 launches.

It notes that several departments of the company, such as customer support, shipping, social media, and order processing, may experience delays, while all is expected to return to normal seemingly after the launch date, where it has stated 'once employees have completed their initial exploration, finished at least one mission, and returned to reality.'

Frankly, it's difficult to tell whether this is simply a joke with the company playing into the hype of gaming's biggest release in 2026, or if it genuinely intends to effectively push a company-wide shutdown — and if it's the latter, it shouldn't be a big surprise.

It goes without saying that GTA 6's launch is essentially a world-stopping moment, particularly for game enthusiasts, and it's no surprise that plenty of employees have already set their sights on November 19 as an off day. Regardless of whether this is indeed a joke, it wouldn't be a far-fetch to suggest that other companies could follow suit.

Fortunately, as it stands, GTA 6 is still very much locked in for launch on November 19, with Take-Two Interactive's CEO, Strauss Zelnick, recently reaffirming the date, and rumors from a reliable insider, Nate The Hate, stating the game will arrive in November, unless something 'unexpected and catastrophically' goes wrong.

It's certainly been a very long wait for GTA 6 to arrive, not only stemming from a long 13-year wait after GTA 5's release, but also since GTA 6's official 2022 announcement. We can only hope there aren't any more planned delays at this stage.

Notably, Zelnick previously expressed confidence that no further delays were on the cards, stating that Take-Two and Rockstar won't greenlight or spend money on marketing "until we're pretty close to release". With this in mind, it's pretty safe to assume that the November 19 launch date is set in stone once marketing kicks off.

In the earnings report, Zelnick said: "We believe Fiscal 2027 will establish new record levels of operating performance driven by the November 19th launch of Grand Theft Auto VI, along with strong execution across our portfolio."

Outside of the earnings call and report, Zelnick effectively insinuated that marketing for GTA 6 won't begin until late June (which is when summer officially starts in the US), stating: "So the next few weeks I don’t think it’ll be summertime yet, but when it’s summertime, Rockstar expects to start marketing GTA 6."

With both delay and marketing rumors addressed, fans can now settle, essentially now knowing when Rockstar Games will next make its move. Notably, this doesn't rule out the highly requested third trailer of GTA 6 appearing sooner than the purported late June, especially with Sony's PlayStation State of Play and Geoff Keighley's Summer Game Fest both in the first week of the month.

Regardless, there are likely plenty of huge announcements on other game IPs we can anticipate throughout June, and Rockstar Games' GTA 6 entering the fray at the end of the month is a perfect way to set the tone for the rest of 2026.

Speaking in a new interview with podcaster David Senra, Zelnick said that "most people believe" that GTA is "the most valuable entertainment IP ever created," and revealed that the total revenue from the latest instalment, GTA 5, is "a lot."

The game, released back in 2013, has sold more than 225 million copies and is frequently touted as one of the best-selling video games of all time. It still has tens of thousands of players today, often appearing among the most-played titles on popular PC gaming platform Steam.

Best Buy has reportedly leaked the pre-order date for GTA 6 via an affiliate email, first reported by content creator Frogboyx1Gaming. The email shows an affiliate campaign labelled 'GTA 6 Pre Order (Physical Game)' lasting from May 18 to May 21, strongly implying pre-orders will open on May 18.

The email has since been corroborated by leaker Tom Henderson and several users online and on Reddit, and with Take-Two Interactive's earnings call set for May 21, the timing does line up.

However, Rockstar has been rather unpredictable in its marketing for its games, particularly amid all the theories about when the next trailer will arrive.

There's a decent chance marketing could kick off much earlier (i.e., from May 18), but history tells us that proceedings may not go exactly as fans predict.

One thing is almost certain: an update on GTA 6 is likely imminent, as the earnings call edges closer, notably, on May 21, when the supposed affiliate campaign from Best Buy ends.

I'd love to eat my words if a third trailer does drop and the doors open for pre-orders, but perhaps it's better to be cautious on excitement levels for now.

"Because you wishlisted Grand Theft Auto 6...Grand Theft Auto 6 is on your wishlist. Get a PlayStation 5 today to be ready for when Grand Theft Auto 6 launches on 19th November, 2026," one message from Sony reads.

Some players are seemingly receiving messages in different formats, with one remarking how the user is a "top Grand Theft Auto 5 player!" before coaxing them to buy a PS5, while others are seeing them in the notification centre on their console.

Players are convinced this means marketing for the highly anticipated Rockstar Games title has finally begun following comments from Take-Two Interactive CEO Strauss Zelnick last month, and the game is on course for its November 19 release date.

It could also indicate that the game's marketing campaign could become more prominent in the coming weeks, which could mean new teasers, trailers, and official gameplay in the lead-up to the game's launch.

It also appears that GTA 6 has been rated 17+ Mature by the ESRB, the US ratings board.

According to screenshots provided by the same account, the game will contain everything you'd associate with a GTA game, including blood and gore, intense violence, mature humour, nudity, strong language, strong sexual content, and use of drugs and alcohol.

GTA 6 is possibly the most anticipated game of all time, and following the continued success of Rockstar Games' big hits, GTA 5 and Red Dead Redemption 2, along with two delays, there is huge pressure to deliver to the fans.

Speaking in an interview with Bloomberg at the Interactive Innovation Conference in Las Vegas last week, Strauss Zelnick still aims to deliver the best experience possible to players.

"I think here our goal is to deliver to consumers something that’s never been experienced before," the CEO said. "Being on the sidelines but pretty close to the front of the sidelines is very, very exciting. And terrifying. Because the expectations are so high."

GTA 6 is scheduled to launch on November 19, and industry analysts have previously predicted that the game could sell upwards of 25 million copies on day one and generate $7.6 billion in revenue in the first 60 Days of its launch.

It's also suggested that 10 million units would be a disaster for Take-Two, considering GTA 6 is one of the most expensive games ever made.

"At a lower level, that's true of Take-Two's entire business plan on the console side," Zelnick said. "Development costs have gone up and up. The other half is that Take-Two Interactive and Rockstar Games are fully aware that there are more sales on the table if they can push consumers to double-dip and buy the game again once a PC version launches.

It's a smart business move, but it's also frustrating for us PC players. Hopefully, the wait won't be too long.

GTA 6 absolutely needs cross-save functionality

Game developers and publishers such as Ubisoft, Larian Studios, and CD Projekt Red have all implemented cross-progression functionality in games, notably the likes of Assassin's Creed Shadows, Baldur's Gate 3, Cyberpunk 2077, and The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt.

Cross progression is integral to allowing players to pick up exactly where they left off, across both PC and console. For instance, if I own Cyberpunk 2077 on Steam and PS5, I can pick it up on a Steam Deck or Lenovo Legion Go handheld on the go and then dive back into my save on my TV when I get home.

This is incredibly convenient for gamers who play titles that are timed exclusives, as users can confidently progress on one platform and then dip into a more complete or graphically advanced version (usually a PC port) without having to start over when it arrives.

That's exactly why I want it for Rockstar's GTA 6. I would hate to buy the game on my PS5, spend hundreds of hours in the main story, and maybe even craft a personal online character (if online is available on day one), only to be locked out of it all when the game eventually comes to PC.

Ubisoft and other game developers have been doing this for years, and if Rockstar followed in the same footsteps, it would only encourage gamers on both PC and console to buy two copies of GTA 6.

I've been quite confused about why more game developers haven't included this for multiplatform games, as I can't think of a single way in which it would harm the developer or consumer.

While I imagine there are likely complications involved due to differences in file formats for saves between PC and console, I'd argue that avoiding cross-save functionality has the potential to actually hinder sales. Some PC owners are already hesitant to buy a console-exclusive game at launch if they think it will eventually come to PC, and have to start progression all over again.

One can only hope Rocktar is taking notes...

In an interview with online marketplace Eldorado, Klaitz, who played GTA 5's heist mastermind Lester Crest, was asked what he thought about a $100 GTA 6 and whether it would be a smarter move for Rockstar to set the price low and continue its investment in GTA Online.

"I think that would probably be the Lester way. I think that’d be the Lester move. Reel them in first, get them hooked," Klaitz said. "The Jay Klaitz move would probably be to keep prices at a level where the game is accessible to all players, but that’s the romantic in me. I also realize that’s not the reality of what will happen."

When asked if he himself would purchase GTA 6 for $100, or any game for that matter, Klaitz said, "No, I wouldn’t", explaining that it's difficult to find the time to play games as you get older, suggesting 100 bucks would be a waste.

"I’m chasing my two kids around. You know, I’m thrilled if even once a week I get to sit down and jam one evening, but not for an evening. I might only get an hour at a time. It’s hard as you get older, brother. It’s harder and harder to find time for this shit," the actor said.

"Screw it, I’ll download it and screw around for the 10 minutes of free time I get here and there if it’s 20 bucks, but the reality is I don’t have enough time to give a game to warrant dropping 100 bills on it."

Rumors about GTA 6 getting a $100 price tag have been circulating since the game's announcement, but analysts have suggested that a $70 price would generate more money for Rockstar.

The studio hasn't released any official pricing details yet; however, the game is predicted to hit a total revenue of $3.2 billion in its first 12 months. This would be around double what Grand Theft Auto 5 achieved in the same amount of time.

Speaking in an interview with online marketplace Eldorado, Klaitz said that he "wouldn't be surprised if a bit of the impact is taken out of GTA 6's initial landing" given the current political climate.

"Don’t get me wrong. It’s still f****** GTA. It’s going to be massive. People will lose their s***. It’s going to be huge, obviously," he continued. "But it’s a different world to the one 13 years ago when the last one came out. I mean, it’s a very different world than it was even a year ago."

He went on to add that "What seemed so far-fetched and insane just a short while ago now feels like just another day" and reasoned that "maybe GTA 6 can’t make that same splash as previous games" as a result.

That said, he conceded that developer Rockstar Games still might be able to pull it off. "I know there will be plenty of commentary and satire woven into it," he said.

"The political spotlight often veers over toward Florida, and maybe for that reason, it’ll still sink its hooks into people, but what we see happening in the real world is definitely going to make it harder for a GTA game to work those angles."

The interview comes as many others that worked on past GTA games have speculated about Grand Theft Auto 6. Recently, Former GTA 5 audio designer Rob Carr said that he thinks the upcoming game will feature mechanics from previous titles like Red Dead Redemption 2 and that the studio has 'probably rebuilt the entirety of the RAGE engine' for it.

Former Rockstar Games developer Rob Carr believes that the studio will borrow mechanics from Red Dead Redemption 2 for Grand Theft Auto 6.

In a lengthy interview with the Kiwi Talkz podcast, Carr, who worked as an audio designer at the prolific studio for games like LA Noire and Grand Theft Auto 5, discussed GTA 6 and what he's interested in seeing, specifically the systems Rockstar will implement from previous games.

Carr recalls a mission from GTA 4, where all three characters connect in the middle for a mission, saying, "It's easy to see that that's the blueprint of the three-player system in GTA 5" with Trevor, Michael, and Franklin.

"I'm really, really quite keen to see what they do because there will be things in GTA 5 that they will have in GTA 6 that you look at and go, 'We should have seen that coming. That was, oh man, that's really clever,' because they're [Rockstar] very good at that, you know," Carr said.

He continued, saying, "There are things for sure I feel that they did in GTA 5 that they will definitely want to expand on and use as either a core mechanic or a main plot point in GTA 6. I'd be incredibly surprised if they don't do anything like that. I'd be very, very surprised."

Later in the podcast, Carr also pointed out Red Dead Redemption's Dead Eye system, which, if you recall, was used as a core combat feature for Michael in GTA 5 and was also featured in Red Dead Redemption 2.

"Even on GTA 5, they took the Dead Eye system," he said. "They used the Dead Eye as one of the perks for one of the characters. You've got the Dead Eye thing that Michael used, I think you've got the slow-mo driving thing for Franklin, and the basically berserker mode for Trevor."

According to Carr, these mechanics weren't simply thrown in at the last minute, but were intentional ways to expand each character's arsenal, so it's entirely possible they could make a return in some form in GTA 6.

"They're all things that, you know – key things have been used in previous titles that they wanted to expand upon," Carr explained. "So I'll be surprised if they don't use something from Red Dead 2."

GTA 6 was initially slated to launch next month, but will now release on November 19, 2026, for PS5, Xbox Series X, and Xbox Series S.

A fan has discovered what appears to be the early model for the main character for Rockstar Games' canceled project, Agent.

In 2023, the source code for GTA 5 was leaked, leading to all sorts of discoveries over the years, but this week, a fan shared a new discovery that shines some light on Rockstar's PS3 spy game Agent, which never saw the light of day.

User XanaBax shared their findings on the GTA Forum (thanks, Kotaku), which included assets and character models for an unknown character, suggesting that one in particular was the main character of Agent.

XanaBax explained that three of the four models were from GTA V and weren’t related to Agent, but suspects the fourth, which shows a man wearing army fatigues, wasn't a GTA 5 asset.

The dataminer claims the model was buried within a folder titled 'Jimmy', which was reportedly the codename for Agent and was also under the hierarchy list labeled 'Player', suggesting that this character was the playable protagonist.

The filename also included the mention of "NorthRig", which could be Rockstar North, the studio that was originally developing the game.

What's more, it appears that the character is a kind of remix of Grand Theft Auto 4's Niko Bellic. XanaBax explained that "some parts of the model are taken from/edited versions of Niko Bellic" and the head model "has more or less the same UV map (excluding the hairline)."

The boots pictured are Niko's boots, and the camo pants are an edited version of Niko's.

The model has never been used in GTA 5 or GTA Online, and XanaBax claims it has a 2009 date attached, which would be two years after Agent was first mentioned by Rockstar.

"Agent takes players on a paranoid journey into the world of counter-intelligence, espionage and political assassinations during the height of the Cold War at the end of the 1970s," Rockstar teased at the time.

The project was first teased at E3 2007 in partnership with Sony, but was officially announced at E3 2009. The game was slated to release in 2010, but after a long period of radio silence, the trademark finally expired, and in 2021, Agent‘s official website was taken down.

A former Rockstar developer shared that both Agent and GTA 5 were being developed simultaneously, but more resources and people were eventually moved onto GTA 5, leading to Agent's apparent cancellation.

User 'janmatant' shared their find on the GTA Forums fan website, revealing that they purchased the console from a boot sale in Edinburgh, Scotland, for £5 (roughly $7), the same city where developer Rockstar North is located.

Images posted on the forum show the thrifted white Xbox 360 with a sticker on the top that reads "Rockstar North Ltd" and features the Rockstar Games logo, but its the content 120GB hard drive that has GTA fans going wild.

"Something big has dropped," one user said in the comments of the post.

After some investigation, it was discovered that the hardware appears to contain a 2007 pre-release version of GTA 4, along with a treasure trove of unfinished and unreleased assets that have now been uploaded to the Internet Archive.

Alongside ferry assets that appear to have been cut from the main game but were used in cutscenes and trailers, fans have also uncovered different radio stations and songs that are different from the release version, as well as unused weapons like a revolver, a silenced pistol, unfinished animations, and beta versions of character models.

But the biggest discovery is what appears to be an unfinished zombies mode, which featured specific pickups and assets like bloody police bodies and a hospital gurney.

As Kotaku reports, Obbe Vermeij, a former Rockstar Games developer who worked on GTA 4, has since said that he doesn't remember much about a zombies mode in a post on X / Twitter, and suggested that it was an "experiment" by a team of artists and other devs "that didn't work out.

"There were a lot of those," Vermeij added.

It'll take fans a while to completely pick apart the 120GB worth of content, but at least they'll have something to keep them occupied while we wait for Grand Theft Auto 6, which launches on November 19, 2026, for PS5, Xbox Series X, and Xbox Series S.

How do we know? Well, we asked our readers via our TechRadar WhatsApp channel (available for the latest news and updates) whether the long-anticipated title will be worth the wait. This comes after two separate delays, with the latest one pushing the launch date further down the line to fall in 2026 (was previously set for May 26, 2026), along with rumors that more delays could be in the pipeline.

The overwhelming majority of votes (a major 59%) side with 'ask me in 2027', which suggests that many believe another delay may actually be in store. This isn't far-fetched either, since recent reports state that Rockstar Games plans to delay the physical edition of GTA 6 to prevent spoilers before all players can get their hands on.

While that isn't exactly a delay for the game itself, many consumers are intent on owning physical copies of games, and this measure might leave most without physical copies since gamers will want to be playing on day one.

Besides, Bloomberg's Jason Schreier recently reported that the last he heard from the hotly anticipated game is that it wasn't content-complete. It must be noted that this is considered a normal thing for Rockstar Games, which explains why the final product is often well polished, but it may not be enough to shake fans' worries of another delay.

While 22% of the voters believe GTA 6 will be worth the long wait, a fair amount also believe it won't – and based on the 59% of voters with delay concerns, it's enough to infer that Rockstar's (arguably) most anticipated game may not live up to the hype.

Opinion: another GTA 6 delay could be problematic

There's no doubt in my mind that Rockstar Games' Grand Theft Auto 6 will be an absolute blockbuster, selling millions of copies on its launch day. However, if another delay truly is in store (especially a lengthy one), more questions of whether what the game has to offer was really worth waiting so long for.

In other words, the longer this game continues to be delayed, there's a risk that Rockstar Games may miss the right time to capture and utilize the hype, no matter how good GTA 6 is.

That's pure speculation on my side: frankly, the game hasn't started its full marketing campaign yet, and my tone might change drastically once that time arrives. All it took for Rockstar Games to quell concerns and frustrations after the first delay was 2nd trailer and plenty of in-game screenshots to get the hype train up and running again.

I truly do hope the November 19, 2026 slate is final, and I'm sure everyone will be praying for a smooth sailing development journey for developers at Rockstar Games, so we can all enjoy what's been anticipated for a long 13 years.

According to the Polish site PPE.pl(via VGC), its "trusted" insider Graczdari, who handles physical game sales in Europe, told the publication that Take-Two has no current plans to release GTA 6 physically due to the possibility of story or gameplay leaks.

It's claimed that GTA 6 will launch digitally first, with a physical edition arriving later on. However, conflicting reports say it could be three to four weeks later, or as far as 2027, before players could get their hands on a physical copy.

"We're hearing more and more that the physical version won’t be released simultaneously with the digital version to prevent leaks," the source said.

"We’re getting conflicting reports – some say the physical version will arrive three to four weeks after the digital release, while others say it won’t happen until early 2027. More information will be available in mid-February."

We'd take this report with a grain of salt for now, since the idea of a digital-only GTA 6, one of the most highly anticipated games of all time, seems like it could have a massive effect on sales for the studio, especially considering the game won't be released on PC at launch.

However, it's worth mentioning that Graczdari has a track record for accurately reporting on the release dates for the Oblivion: Remastered physical edition, the PS5 version of Microsoft Flight Simulator, and the Nintendo Switch 2 port of Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds.

GTA 6 has been subject to leaks in the past, with its first trailer dropping online ahead of its official debut back in 2023, and then again later when some early animation work was flagged on Reddit.

GTA 6 was initially set to launch on May 26, 2026, but was delayed and will now arrive on November 19, 2026, for PS5, Xbox Series X, and Xbox Series S.

The creator of the Bully Online mod has announced that the project has permanently shut down, one month after launch.

The viral mod was released in December and turned Rockstar Games' 2006 game into a multiplayer experience; however, the project has now been completely scrubbed from the internet, including the source code.

"The Bully Online project is shutting down. Thank you all for playing," project lead 'Swegta' announced in an update on their official website (via GamesRadar).

Insider Gaming was able to find screenshots of messages from Swegta's Discord, which offered some more information.

"The Bully Online project is shutting down forever, which unfortunately means all the following is going to happen in 24 hours: our official Bully Online server (on swegta.com) will be shutdown, development of scripts for Bully Online will stop, the source code will be removed from swegta.com, all our webpages referring to it will be removed, the launcher downloads will taken down, and all Bully Online account data will be permanently deleted," reads one message," one message reads.

The team member also said that Swegta will be making a video with more details on the shutdown, writing, "know this was not something we wanted."

Before the mod was released, Swegta said there were no concerns over Rockstar ordering a take-down of the mod since it required a legal copy of the game to work, "it competes with no Rockstar Games/Take-Two property" and "only modifies the game executable and loads content we made."

Swegta or his team didn't offer a reason as to why the mod was shut down, but this situation does seem like Rockstar likely sent a cease and desist to the creator, something the company is known to have done in the past.

Speaking of mods, Rockstar has now launched the Cfx Marketplace, a website dedicated to the buying and selling of GTA Online and Red Dead Online mods.

The Cfx Marketplace is officially live and is described as a "curated digital storefront where talented FiveM/RedM creators can share and sell their work" (via IGN).

"Made just for you. The official Rockstar modding UGC marketplace for RedM & FiveM. Discover assets, scripts and upload your own creations using the portal," the homepage reads.

The website is currently only available to a select group of creators, but players who enjoy modding can browse the storefront and purchase free and paid mods.

Some mods already uploaded include the likes of new maps, characters, outfits, vehicles, customizable features, scripts, and more that expand each game's world.

Creators can sell individual mods, as well as creator bundles that include several at once, and some already have thousands of downloads.

Rockstar and parent company Take-Two used to be very against modding, even accusing FiveM, the website that hosts GTA Online mods, of piracy a few years back.

However, the studio later went on to purchase Cfx.re, a popular GTA Online modding team, in 2023, which is probably why its latest Cfx Marketplace probably sounds so familiar.

At this time, Rockstar's new modding site is only for GTA 5 and Red Dead Redemption 2, but it could potentially host Grand Theft Auto 6 mods in the future, when the game eventually comes to PC, that is, or even the next iteration of GTA Online.

The game is expected to launch on November 19, 2026, for the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, and Xbox Series S.

Dataminer Amethxst on X spotted new symbols that indicate Sony could be preparing for a major PC crossover, with both symbols labelled 'Cross-Buy' and 'PS5/PC', which could mean owners of both a PC and a PS5 console will benefit from a 'play anywhere' setup.

The play anywhere suggestion may sound familiar, and that's because Microsoft has had its Xbox Play Anywhere feature implemented for nearly a decade, and has grown to work with new Xbox games like Indiana Jones and The Great Circle or Gears of War: Reloaded, which allows owners of a PC and an Xbox console to play purchased games (that are supported) between both platforms.

It's also worth noting that Sony previously had this Cross-Buy term active during the PS Vita handheld era, allowing purchased PS3 games to be played on the device at no extra cost.

Both Microsoft and Sony have stepped up efforts to bring exclusive games to other platforms besides the PS5 and Xbox Series X|S consoles, respectively. Microsoft has recently spearheaded that charge with years' worth of games on PC, and now, a growing library of games is moving over to what many would consider its rival, the PlayStation ecosystem.

While Sony hasn't been reciprocal about exclusive PlayStation games coming to Xbox consoles, it has made increasing efforts to bring these games to PC players, and there's now a large number of them available on Steam and the Epic Games Launcher. In that case, it might not come as a surprise to see an attempt to strengthen the PC crossover via this Cross-Buy method.

The question of whether this indicates a PlayStation PC launcher and store is on the way is at the forefront of speculation, and may be an attempt to rival Valve's Steam storefront. However, what is clear despite the skepticism online regarding the symbols and their legitimacy, is that it is seemingly real, as Amethxst validates in a further tweet (available above).

If this is indeed what the Cross-Buy name implies, then that will also raise reasonable speculation over Sony's potential plans for bringing its PlayStation exclusives to PC on day one, in the same manner as Xbox Game Pass titles launching on PC and Xbox simultaneously.

It will also be interesting to see if this will only impact PlayStation's first-party games, because if this is legitimate and third-party games are also included, then there's one on everyone's mind that would be the highlight of a major PS5 to PC crossover.

Now I know I'm not the only one who instantly thought of GTA 6 when seeing this Cross-Buy symbol. While I'm fully aware that it would most likely be for PlayStation games only, especially since that's how Xbox Play Anywhere works, Sony and Rockstar Games would be passing up on a great chance to collaborate on a Cross-Buy edition of GTA 6.

In theory, this would essentially allow PC players (who already own a PS5 console) to make a down payment for the PC edition (with single-player and online cross saves) that is highly likely to be set for launch in a few years, and further strengthen the incentive to buy the highly anticipated title on PS5.

It's a much more beneficial proposal than a double dip, as it's consumer-friendly, since some will be reluctant to buy the game again later on PC, or may be hesitant to buy on console to begin with, from fear of missing out.

I have no doubts that this would likely mean a Cross-Buy GTA 6 edition would come at an extra cost, but as a PS5 and PC owner, I'd have no qualms paying slightly more than usual, knowing that I won't have to worry about buying the game and starting all over again on PC when it launches.

Do I see this happening? Absolutely not, but it would be a great move from both Sony and Rockstar if it did.

In addition to co-founding Rockstar with his brother, Houser served as a writer for Grand Theft Auto 2, Grand Theft Auto 3, Grand Theft Auto 4, and Grand Theft Auto 5, in addition to both Red Dead Redemption games.

Speaking with podcaster Lex Fridman, Houser explained why the GTA games haven't returned to a setting like London, which previously appeared in the 1997 Grand Theft Auto expansion pack London 1969.

"We made a little thing in London 26 years ago," he said. "That was pretty cute and fun, as the first mission pack ever for [the first] PlayStation."

When it comes to the main games, however, Houser explained that "we always decided that there so much Americana inherent in the [franchise], it would be really hard to make it work in London or anywhere else."

"You needed guns, you needed these larger-than-life- characters," he added. "It just felt like the game was so much about America, possibly from an outsider's perspective [...] it wouldn't really have worked in the same way elsewhere."

Houser resigned from Rockstar in 2020, going on to found a new studio called Absurd Ventures.

It's currently unclear who is writing the next GTA game, Grand Theft Auto 6, which is set to launch in May next year for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X and Series S.

That's according to a new study from MIDiA Research (via IGN), which suggests that increasing the price of the highly anticipated game to $100 would deter people from buying it and "leave money on the table" for Rockstar.

"Our research suggests that GTA 6 will generate more revenue at a standard $69.99 price point than the much discussed $100," said Perry Gresham, co-author of the report and Head of Data at MIDiA Research. "A $100 price point would actually leave money on the table."

The study also suggests that increasing the game above $70, which would be an "optimum" price, would result in less revenue than the lost revenue from those who don't purchase GTA 6.

"Our research shows that 59% of consumers have some interest in purchasing GTA 6, highlighting the immense appeal and commercial potential of the game," said co-author and Games Analyst at MIDiA, Brandon Sutton.

"This notoriety also makes GTA 6 the perfect test case to understand consumer expectations around video games pricing. Our findings should serve as a caution to game developers looking to raise game prices in the future."

In the study's key findings that recorded survey results from over 2,000 US consumers, it was reported that 60% of people who expressed interest in GTA 6 said they would 'definitely' or 'probably' buy the game at $69.99, while 35% of consumers who expressed interest in GTA 6 would 'definitely' or ‘probably’ buy the game at $99.99.

It was also determined that just 16% of consumers would purchase the game at $149.99, compared to 79% who expressed interest in GTA 6, who said they would 'definitely' or 'probably' buy the game at $49.99.

Rockstar will likely reveal the game's price tag the closer we get to launch, which is scheduled for May 26, 2026. GTA 6 is confirmed for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, and Xbox Series S, but the game won't be coming to PC at launch.

A new leak suggests Grand Theft Auto 6 will feature parodies of real-life websites and mobile apps like Uber and WhatsApp.

According to Rockstar Games insider Tez2 on the GTA Forums, several domain names have been registered by Take-Two Interactive that will seemingly be used in the upcoming GTA game (via GamesRadar).

"I came across some domains all registered on May 27 under Take-Two's nameservers that seem to be VI-related," Tez2 explained. "These domains could be in-game sites that R* may redirect to VI's page later on, like what we've seen with IV and V. Or some could be completely unrelated instead."

The domains are exactly what you'd expect to find in a GTA game. They're named: what-up.app, rydeme.app, buckme.app, leonidagov.org, brianandbradley.com, hookers-galore.com, wipeoutcornskin.com, myboyhasacreepycorndog.com.

What-up.app, which has already been known from previous leaks, is likely to be a parody of WhatsApp, rydeme.app could be Uber or Lyft, and buckme.app could be Patreon and Only Fans combined, one commenter suggested.

None of these websites can be accessed at the moment, but according to a historical WhoIs lookup, as spotted by PC Gamer, they could have been tied to nameservers like ns03.vandalay-industries.net and dns2.p05.nsone.net, which are also tied to existing sites like Rockstar's own.

It also looks like the domain names got moved to new nameservers after fans spotted them and are now linked to nameservers of a software company called Mark Monitor.

Previous GTA games have also featured parody websites, so it wouldn't be unusual for the leak to have some validity.

GTA 6 is scheduled to release on May 26, 2026, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, and Xbox Series S. The game won't be coming to PC at launch.

According to reputable leaker Detective Seeds on X, GTA 6 will run at 60fps on PS5 Pro as Sony engineers are reportedly working closely with Rockstar to help achieve the performance target. This comes from the Oblivion remake leaker, so it's safe to say there's a level of credibility here.

Detective Seeds suggests that there will be multiple graphical settings, but will reportedly only be available on the PS5 Pro, and not the base configuration. It doesn't sound completely far-fetched either, as it's evident that Sony and Rockstar have maintained a strong marketing partnership over the years, and that's rumored to continue leading up to GTA 6's launch.

Based on the leak, there are clear hints that 60fps on the base PS5 isn't completely off the cards; rumors also hint at Sony and Rockstar optimizing other titles for 60fps as well, which rings a bell, surrounding Red Dead Redemption 2.

Fans have been requesting a 60fps patch for the critically acclaimed title, so it would be surprising if this wasn't aimed at the base PS5 (especially since it has already been achieved via console exploits). The visual fidelity in GTA 6 is arguably vastly superior to Red Dead Redemption 2's, but the two are still in similar ballparks – so, if the base PS5 gets a 60fps patch for the 2018 title, could that mean the same for GTA 6?

Analysis: 60fps or not, I'm not paying $700 for the PS5 Pro

Surely, I'm not the only one who doesn't really care whether or not GTA 6 runs at 60fps on console or not? I mean, don't get me wrong, I'd love to see it available in some capacity, and this isn't me saying '30fps is perfectly fine, stop complaining. ' However, you better believe I'm not paying $700 for a PS5 Pro just to achieve that performance target.

I'd argue that Rockstar Games' GTA 6 is one of the only titles where I'd happily settle with high-quality visuals at 4K 30fps over 60fps (only if optimization for 60fps wasn't possible) on console.

Perhaps you could say that's my excitement for its eventual launch on PC speaking, since I know much higher frame rates will inevitably be available – but if I could play Final Fantasy XVI on PS5 on its quality graphics mode, a fast-paced action RPG game, without it ruining the experience, then I can easily do the same with the arguably the most anticipated game of all-time.

Again, I must stress that 60fps should become a priority for developers on console, but I don't think it will be the end of the world if that doesn't happen for GTA 6 on the base PS5.

Rockstar Games' Grand Theft Auto 6 is edging closer with a launch date set for May 26, 2026, on PS5 and Xbox Series X and S. However, recent rumors of the former console and its supposed hardware issues have left me slightly worried about whether PS5 systems will survive until then.

As reported by Wccftech, the founder of Alderon Games (an Indie game developer), Matthew Cassells, highlighted a recurring issue of PS5 shutdowns from both players and staff of the Path of Titans game. Notably, Cassells claims on Moore's Law Is Dead (via YouTube) that the game crashes stem from liquid metal overheating issues.

Many gamers held this suspicion about the PS5 over the last few years, with suggestions that positioning your console vertically would cause the liquid metal to escape and leave dry spots on the console's APU. This was debunked, but worries have now resurfaced, with more users now voicing frustrations about abrupt console shutdowns.

This is arguably the worst time for these reports to resurface, as GTA 6 is set for launch next year. That may seem like a long road ahead, but it'll arrive on consoles sooner than we expect, and if you own a PS5 like me, hearing about these issues again might leave you concerned.

GTA 6 isn't coming to PC (at least on launch), and isn't expected to come to the platform for a year or more. The only players in the clear (if these liquid metal problems are legitimate) are Xbox owners, and I'm not one of them. As much as I'm pumped for Rockstar's long-awaited title, it'd be hard to buy another PS5 console, especially with the recent price fluctuations.

Analysis: Just place your PS5 horizontally to be on a safe side...

Fortunately, I've not run into any issues with my PS5 since I bought it on launch day in 2020. I'll also note that I've never placed it vertically on any TV unit or desk, so if there is any legitimacy to the liquid metal problems, that's likely why my system has been safe.

There's also an added bonus of less dust buildup when placed horizontally, and I can attest to this as I've hardly spotted any dust in my PS5. So, my advice is to avoid leaving your console standing upright, just to be on the safe side.

I must note there's no guarantee that these reports of liquid metal issues are indeed accurate, but I'd rather proceed with caution, just in case. We've waited over a decade for GTA 6. It will have been 13 years by the time it launches, and I'd hate to see my console die out on me at arguably its most important phase.

GTA 6 (as of today) is the most anticipated game of all time in my books, so let's just hope our systems don't screw us over.

Rockstar Games' Grand Theft Auto 6 is now a year away from launch on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, and it's expected to reinvent the wheel within the franchise and the open-world genre. Fortunately, a new leak has backed up the theory that it will do just that.

According to GameRoll (via Discord message screenshots), who is a content creator and credible 'leaker', GTA 6 will feature hundreds of malls and over 700 enterable stores, which are all fully functional. This further suggests that the long-awaited entry will be the biggest in scale in the franchise's history, expanding the number of accessible interiors and taking realism to a new level.

It's also worth noting that the classic character switch from GTA 5 will reportedly make a return, but with a slight twist; GameRoll hints at an additional character switching mode, with Jason and Lucia together.

Essentially, this means players should be able to switch between the two characters even while they're with each other – supposedly during free roam and store robberies. This potentially opens the gateway for immersive and extensive interactions with other characters and NPCs, building upon Rockstar's most recent title, Red Dead Redemption 2.

GameRoll also mentioned that the source suggested that elevators will be present in certain skyscrapers, which implies interiors may have more depth and interactability than ever before.

Other elements that were previously spotted in Rockstar's massive data breach, like the ability to go prone and a dynamic cover system that was akin to The Last of Us Part 2's system, have reportedly been cut entirely.

It's best to take this supposed leak with a grain of salt, as there is no hard evidence on this occasion – at least not at the same level as the famous Slack leak, showcasing gameplay in a dev build.

However, there's a very good chance that this leak is accurate, since GameRoll (in what was labelled a "prediction") previously leaked info from an insider, which revealed both Lucia and Jason's full character names, long before the recent second trailer and website info dump.

The rumored new character switching mode is another point of credibility; the gameplay leak revealed Lucia and Jason during a restaurant robbery, with options to check in with the other. It's not clear whether this was a scripted sequence in a mission or free roam (and we don't know if it'll make it into the full game), but it's made these claims much more believable.

Analysis: GTA 6 is shaping up to be a trendsetter

The terms trendsetter and GTA 6 may not come as a surprise, as it will have been almost exactly a 13-year wait by the time it launches on May 26, 2026. If this leak is legitimate, which I honestly think it is, GTA 6 will have set an incredibly high standard for other open-world games.

Rockstar Games is known for its attention to detail in every facet and aspect of open-world games, and Red Dead Redemption 2 is a prime example of that – so much so, that gamers are still finding secrets in the game today after its 2018 release.

If we now carry that over into a modern-day setting based on Miami, in a Grand Theft Auto title, then I can only imagine just how much content and surprises we have in store. Developers have already made it clear that the second trailer's reveals were only just the tip of the iceberg, and I think the leak of over 700 stores is an example of that.

I'm still upset about a potential 2027 or even 2028 PC launch, but if Rockstar can deliver what these leaks suggest and more, my frustrations may be quickly forgotten...

Grand Theft Auto 4 is reportedly coming to PS5, Xbox Series X, and Xbox Series S later this year, followed by a possible Max Payne 3 remaster.

As reported by Eurogamer, this latest rumor comes from Rockstar insider 'Tez2', who shared on the GTA Forum that someone at Rockstar Games "hinted" at a GTA 4 port for modern consoles and "by now it should've gone up a year in development".

'Tez2' also said that "we may end up seeing it drop later this year" and that a port of the 2008 game is one of the reasons why the Liberty City Preservation Project, a fan-made GTA mod, was taken down by the studio earlier this year.

It's also claimed that Rockstar is developing a Max Payne 3 port that will potentially release after the GTA 4 port.

"If they still follow their plan laid out from the pandemic days, they'll do an MP3 port after IV. So that is an opportunity to do a bundle or a Definitive Edition. Max Payne 1 & 2 remakes, and a Max Payne 3 port," 'Tez2' posted.

Rockstar Games is notorious for keeping development projects quiet, and no announcements of a GTA 4 or Max Payne 3 remaster have been made at this time.

The studio released Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition back in 2021, which contained GTA 3, GTA: Vice City, and GTA: San Andreas, so it would make sense for it to want to port GTA 4 to modern consoles as well.

A GTA 4 remaster would tide fans over while we wait for Grand Theft Auto 6, which was recently delayed from its original 2025 release and is now slated to launch on May 26, 2026.

It was only a matter of time until Rockstar Games dropped a bombshell on us all with its second trailer for Grand Theft Auto 6, especially after the news of a delay pushing the game's release into 2026.

Featuring the most in-depth look yet, with action-packed sequences, plus incredibly realistic character animations and physics, I can say without a doubt that GTA 6 is the one and only game I've seen that truly looks 'next-gen'.

I only think this because, so far in the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X and Series S generation, there have been very few games that really seem like such a significant leap forward to me. Assassin's Creed Shadows, solely judging going by its visuals, has been the only game that has left me in awe so far - which makes sense as developer Ubisoft opted to ditch the last generation of consoles.

Despite this, Rockstar Games has once again proved that it's in a league of its own. From all the minor details of environments, the life-like character models, apparent ray-traced lighting effects, to even the impressive flow of beer in virtual bottles (if you've seen the trailer, you know what I'm talking about here), GTA 6 is set to be an absolute showstopper and could raise the bar for open-world games forever.

Even as a life-long PC gamer, after seeing trailer 2, I have to admit my gaming rig will be collecting dust for months when it releases on May 26, 2026.

I'm not waiting around

As a gamer who primarily plays on PC, it hurts to have a gaming rig that is an absolute powerhouse ready to tackle the most demanding triple-A games out there, and still feel the need to resort to using my PS5.

I've mentioned this previously as it's why I despise console exclusivity - because, let's be honest, GTA 6's console-only launch is likely a double-dip strategy that's intended to make people like me buy once on console, then again on PC.

GTA 6 will come to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X and Series S on May 26, 2026 (that is if it doesn't get delayed again), and there's just no way that I won't be rushing out to get my hands on it day one as the wait for a console release could be long. There's a strong chance that PC players may not be getting the game until at least 2027, at least based on Rockstar Games' previous PC ports.

Grand Theft Auto 5 is a prime example; it didn't make its way to PC until 2015, two years after it came to consoles in 2013. Red Dead Redemption 2 took a year to launch on PC after its console launch in 2018. I really hope I'm not jinxing this, but at worst, going off of the game's massive scale, budget, and development time, we might even see a wait until 2029 - when I'll almost be 30, just let that sink in!

That said, I am very lucky that I still own my PS5, because if you also want to play on day one and don't have one yet the situation is not looking so great with potential price increases on the way...

I don't need to dive deep into the topic of US tariffs to tell you that there's massive uncertainty with prices on all things tech. We've already seen Sony increase the price of the PS5 recently, and Microsoft put its Xbox Series X up to $599.99 (a ridiculously high price point, I may add).

With the issue of tariffs at hand, there's no time to speculate over whether there will be another price jump for the PS5 when the digital edition is still around for £429.99 in the UK and AU$749.95 in Australia. I'm not saying those are cheap prices, but the console could become much more expensive soon.

As I've already explained, I have a PS5, but if I wasn't in that position I would be rushing out to the store to get one well in advance of the GTA 6 release in order to dive in day one. It's an important consideration to make if you don't want to have to spend over the odds on a console in order to avoid having the GTA 6 experience spoiled by others online before getting to play on PC.

Rockstar Games has claimed that the latest Grand Theft Auto 6 trailer was watched almost half a billion times in its first day.

After delaying and announcing a new release date for GTA 6, the studio dropped the second trailer earlier this week, causing the internet to explode once again. It's perhaps the most anticipated game of all time, so it's not surprising that it brought in millions of views since its debut, but we're now learning that the latest trailer has broken a new record.

According to a new report from The Hollywood Reporter, Rockstar has revealed that the second trailer received 475 million views across all platforms within 24 hours of its release.

This staggering number of views has shattered some of the most-watched movie trailer launches, including Deadpool & Wolverine, which racked up 365 million in 24 hours, and Spider-Man: No Way Home at 355.5 million.

The first trailer, which was exclusive to YouTube and debuted in December 2023, managed to accumulate 93 million views in its first day, compared to the second trailer, which currently sits at 85 million on the platform.

17 months since its release, the announcement trailer has been watched 255 million times on YouTube, so the second trailer will likely continue to grow in views as we wait for the next one.

Following its release, Rockstar confirmed that the second trailer was captured entirely on the PlayStation 5 and "comprised of equal parts gameplay and cutscenes".

Spotify streams of the song featured prominently in the latest Grand Theft Auto 6 trailer surged by 182,000% in the two hours after the trailer's release.

The second trailer for the highly anticipated GTA 6 dropped earlier this week, showing off more than two and a half minutes of gameplay and cutscenes captured entirely on PlayStation 5. The footage was accompanied by the 1986 song Hot Together by The Pointer Sisters.

The trailer is currently the number one trending video on YouTube, and has amassed more than 85 million views at the time of writing.

The catchy background tune seems to have been a hit with GTA fans, as Spotify streams of it increased by a staggering amount in the hours after the trailer dropped, compared to the same period one week prior.

Spotify Streams of Love Is a Long Road by Tom Petty, the song featured in the initial GTA 6 reveal, enjoyed a similar (though somewhat more modest) 37,000% increase when that trailer dropped back in 2023.

Spotify global head of editorial Sulinna Ong commented on the songs' massive surges in popularity, arguing that GTA “cuts through popular culture like almost nothing else. Music has been synonymous with the series since the very beginning, so it’s great to see fans both new and established connecting with an iconic track in this way.”

Rockstar Games has confirmed that the latest Grand Theft Auto 6 trailer was captured entirely on the PlayStation 5.

In case you missed it, the studio just dropped a brand new trailer for its anticipated game, which offered an in-depth look at the game's dual protagonists, Jason and Lucia, a fresh look at Vice City, and introductions to new characters.

It looks incredible, and much to everyone's surprise, the end of the trailer stated that it was captured on the PS5. That's right, the base PS5, not the PS5 Pro!

However, there was some discussion as to whether the footage shown was purely cinematics for the simple fact that it looks too damn good, with some parts of the trailer showing what appears to be ray-traced reflections in car mirrors and water.

Well, we now have an answer, as Rockstar has since revealed that the entire trailer was comprised of gameplay and cutscenes.

"Grand Theft Auto 6 Trailer 2 was captured entirely in-game from a PlayStation 5, comprised of equal parts gameplay and cutscenes," Rockstar said in a post on social media the following day.

GTA 6 was originally supposed to launch in late 2025, but Rockstar has delayed the game until May 26, 2026. According to Bloomberg reporter Jason Schreier, the studio decided to delay it by one more year to "avoid brutal crunch". Considering how good the game looks right now, there's a chance the GTA 6 will look even better on release.

The game is launching on PS5, Xbox Series X, and Xbox Series S, but there's no word on a PC release just yet.

The latest trailer for Grand Theft Auto 6 is here and it gives us a more than two minutes and thirty seconds worth a footage of the highly anticipated upcoming open-world game.

That might not sound like a lot, but it revealed loads of new details about the GTA 6's central characters, setting, plus dropped a wealth of story hints.

One of the most striking things about the trailer, however, is just how stunning everything looks. GTA 6 might be one of the most beautiful games that I've ever seen, with a level of photo-realism that looks leagues ahead of what other studios have achieved in this current console generation.

Developer Rockstar Games has always been a leader in the visual department, but GTA 6 seems set to take it all to a new level. A message at the end of the trailer reveals that it was all captured on PlayStation 5, which is incredibly promising.

The trailer released alongside a countless new screenshots uploaded to the Rockstar website, which really help showcase the extreme visual fidelity. It's got loads of shots of characters, including our protagonists Lucia and Jason, plus plenty of gorgeous environments.

Inspired by the Florida Keys, Leonida Keys is a beautiful but dangerous archipelago filled with all kinds of strange and unusual characters.

Grassrivers

The Grassrivers are moist and humid swamplands with no shortage of alligators or even more deadly locals.

Stop whatever you are doing right now, a new trailer for Grand Theft Auto 6 has literally just arrived.

Developed by Rockstar Games, GTA 6 is shaping up to be one of the most anticipated games of all time. The studio confirmed last week that the game will launch on May 26, 2026 - a delay on its previously announced 2025 release window.

"Grand Theft Auto 6 is now set to release on May 26, 2026," a statement released by the company read. "We are very sorry that this is later than you expected. The interest and excitement surrounding a new Grand Theft Auto has been truly humbling for our entire team. We want to thank you for your support and your patience as we work to finish the game."

It also provided a reason for the decision, stating that "With every game we have released, the goal has always been to try and exceed your expectations, and Grand Theft Auto 6 is no exception. We hope you understand that we need this extra time to deliver at the level of quality you expect and deserve."

This latest trailer came out of the blue, and is presumably an attempt to help maintain all that hype now that we know the game is some time away.

This is not a drill - the latest trailer for GTA 6 has arrived. It gives us an extended look at the upcoming open world game with loads of stunning in-engine footage.

Join me as I provide you with a steady stream of the latest updates surrounding this trailer drop, plus throw in some of my own analysis to explain some of the most interesting things that it shows.

The video's descriptions reveals details

The description of the new trailer provides some interesting insight, namely through a shot plot summary that gives you a rough idea of what to expect from the story this time around.

"Vice City, USA," it reads. "Jason and Lucia have always known the deck is stacked against them. But when an easy score goes wrong, they find themselves on the darkest side of the sunniest place in America, in the middle of a criminal conspiracy stretching across the state of Leonida — forced to rely on each other more than ever if they want to make it out alive."

This, alongside dialogue in the trailer, finally confirms that the name of Lucia's partner is indeed Jason, something that has been rumored for some time.

The Rockstar website is down

Unsurprisingly, it seems that the Rockstar Games website is experiencing heavy traffic right now. It appears to be down, which is pretty frustrating as it was just updated with lots of juicy GTA 6 info.

Luckily, we managed to collect most of it before the website crashed - so hang tight for the details!

Our two 'heroes' revealed

So, on to what we can glean from the Rockstar website. One of the first things on the page is an introduction to our two protagonists - Jason Duval and Lucia Caminos.

Jason is described as an ex army soldier working for a local drug cartel. Meeting Lucia, his lover, "could be the best or worst thing to ever happen to him." It seems safe to assume that their relationship is going to be a central part of the game's story.

As for Lucia, it seems like she's going to be a bit of a loose cannon. "Lucia's father taught her to fight as soon as she could walk," the site reads. She apparently just got out of prison and doesn't seem keen to return.

She's dreaming of a good life for her mother who, interestingly, hails from Liberty City - another prominent location in the Grand Theft Auto series.

The website says that she is "committed to her plan - no matter what it takes." What could this plan be? Presumably some kind of criminal enterprise. We'll just have to wait and see...

The game looks amazing on PS5

Here's one little thing you might have missed.

The new GTA 6 trailer ends with confirmation that it was "captured on PS5." Although the majority of the scenes shown look like in-game cutscenes, it seems safe to assume that they are rendered in engine given the presence of this text.

This is great news, as it suggests that the final game will have a similar level of graphical fidelity to this trailer. Given just how incredibly life-like the entire trailer looks, we might soon have one of the best looking games of all time on our hands.

Do I see a PS5?

This trailer may have been captured on PS5, but that apparently hasn't stopped Rockstar Games from poking some fun at Sony's platform.

What appears to be a PS5 parody console is visible in one of the trailer's interior shots. Don't quote me on this, but I do actually quite like the look - maybe a bit more so than the real life PS5 Slim.

Love the song in the trailer?

One of the things I like most about the trailer is its music, the 1986 song Hot Together from the album of the same name by the Pointer Sisters.

It doesn't take much imagination to figure out why this particular song was chosen - with the lyrics "we could be so hot together" presumably meant to reflect to the partnership between Jason and Lucia.

You don't need to whip out Shazam if you want to hear the full song, as I've found it on YouTube above.

Side characters detailed

The official website now also tells us about some of the side characters that we can expect to encounter in the game.

First up is Cal Hampton, a conspiracy theorist friend of Jason. From his description, it sounds like his laziness is going to be something of a contrast to Jason's own ambition.

We've also got Boobie Ike (yes that is really his name). He's apparently a prominent figure in Vice City, owning real estate, a strip club, and a recording studio.

He is working in partnership with a "young aspiring music mogul" named Dre'Quan in a ventured called Only Raw Records. The duo are seemingly searching for the next big hit, which might prove an important plot thread in the full game.

And now a little more on Dre'Quan Priest.

A drug dealer turns music producer, Dre'Quan is moving up in Vice City. He's just signed the Real Dimez, two young rappers that are massive on social media and could be his ticked to mainstream success.

The Real Dimez, Bae-Luxe and Roxy, are two long-time friends on the rise once again five years after their early hit single with a local rapper called DWNPLY.

The website also introduces us to Raul Bautista. An experienced bank robber, he is searching for new talent for some fresh bank jobs.

Raul could very well be part of the "plan" mentioned in Lucia's description. Will the story feature the pair robbing banks across Vice City for easy cash? It definitely seems likely, especially given the handful of shots showing what appears to be various robberies in the trailer.

The final character detailed on the website is Brian Heder, a "classic drug runner from the golden age of smuggling" currently living with his third wife Lori.

The site reveals that Brian is letting Jason live rent-free in exchange for helping with his local shakedowns. This explains one of the scenes we see early in the trailer, where Brian arrives at Jason's home to ask him to get him his checks - presumably cash from nearby businesses.

A fan favorite character returns?

Fans on social media are currently speculating that the trailer might give us our first glimpse at a fan-favorite returning character.

Phil Cassidy, a prominent character in Grand Theft Auto: Vice City and Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories might be coming back, as there is undeniably someone that looks an awful lot like him in the trailer.

We see a brief ad for a weapon store called Phil's Ammu-Nation, where the character is shown wearing a tank top with the store's logo on it.

Now this could, of course, be a completely unrelated Phil, but given how much Rockstar tends to bring back familiar faces in its games it seems safe to assume that it is a modern interpretation of Cassidy.

After briefly going back up, it looks like the Rockstar Website has buckled under the strain of eager fans booting it up to browse the latest details.

I'm currently seeing the following error message while trying to get it on screen:

"Access Denied You don't have permission to access "http://www.rockstargames.com/VI" on this server."

Hopefully the website will come back online soon!

The latest key art revealed

The trailer went live alongside two new pieces of key art for the game. Both show Jason and Lucia together and are follow that iconic Grand Theft Auto stylized aesthetic.

Of the two, the one with both characters at a dock is definitely my favorite. It's bright, colorful, and really highlights the iconic summery vibe of the Vice City setting.

The Rockstar website is back!

Great news everyone! After a shaky start, it looks like the Rockstar website is back online.

It's got a wealth of screenshots to browse, so I'd recommend heading over there now.

Five things we learned

From our first hints at what the story could be about to a cast of officially confirmed characters, the trailer (and corresponding update to the Rockstar website) taught us an awful lot about GTA 6.

There are now 70 new GTA 6 screenshots available on the Rockstar Games website. They're spread throughout the page, with some buried in sub-menus.

I've painstakingly downloaded every single one and put them all in one place for you to see.

With screenshots of everything from the massive open world to the entire cast of characters that we know about so far, this isn't something that you will want to miss.

Developer Rockstar Games has finally given us an official release date for Grand Theft Auto 6, though simultaneously revealed that the game has been delayed.

As confirmed in a recent press release, the highly anticipated open-world crime game will now release on "May 26, 2026" - a year after its previously announced 2025 release window.

"Hi everyone," the press release begins. "Grand Theft Auto 6 is now set to release on May 26, 2026."

It goes on to apologize for the delay: "We are very sorry that this is later than you expected. The interest and excitement surrounding a new Grand Theft Auto has been truly humbling for our entire team. We want to thank you for your support and your patience as we work to finish the game."

It also provides a reason for the decision, stating that "With every game we have released, the goal has always been to try and exceed your expectations, and Grand Theft Auto 6 is no exception. We hope you understand that we need this extra time to deliver at the level of quality you expect and deserve."

It concludes by saying that more information will be shared "soon".

The first trailer for Grand Theft Auto 6 was released back in December 4, 2023, and has now been viewed more than 251 million times on YouTube.

The game will take place in the fictionalized US state of Leonida, home of the the iconic Vice City featured in previous games. It follows new protagonist Lucia and her partner as they go on the run from the law.

Industry analysts predict that the game's release will be "one of the biggest entertainment launches in history" and that it could potentially generate more than $1 billion in pre-order sales alone.

It will be available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, and Xbox Series S.

Take-Two has confirmed that it won't be announcing the release date for Grand Theft Auto 6 until we're "relatively" close to launch.

Speaking in a recent interview with Bloomberg TV's Wall St. Week, Take-Two boss Strauss Zelnick was asked about the highly-anticipated release of Rockstar Games' upcoming GTA title and why the publisher is being so secretive about its release date (via GameSpot).

Zelnick explained that Take-Two likes to hold back from revealing the date too soon in favor of sharing marketing materials closer to release to maintain excitement around the game.

"The anticipation for [GTA 6] may be the greatest anticipation I've ever seen for an entertainment property, and I've been around the block a few times. And I've been in every entertainment business there is," Zelnick said.

"We want to maintain the anticipation and the excitement. We have competitors who will describe their release schedule for years in advance. We've found the better thing to do is to provide marketing materials relatively close to the release window in order to create that excitement, and balance the excitement with unmet expectation. We don't always get it right. But that's what we're trying to do."

Zelnick went on to discuss why it's taken Rockstar over a decade to make the follow-up to its massively successful GTA 5, saying that Take-Two's team's "set an intention" of letting some franchises rest to build hype and that it simply "takes a long time" to make a game as big as GTA 6.

"Rockstar Games seeks perfection in what they do. Perfection is a pretty high bar. It takes a long time," he added.

Grand Theft Auto 6 was finally announced in December 2023 alongside the first trailer teasing the game's Vice City setting and dual protagonists Lucia and Jason.

It's slated to release in Fall 2025 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, and Xbox Series S, and despite the lack of updates throughout 2024, Take-Two has reaffirmed that the game will be launching on time.

We're edging closer to finally welcoming the arrival of arguably the most anticipated game of all time, Grand Theft Auto 6, which will launch on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S sometime in late 2025, but there's one big problem I have.

Just like many other big AAA titles, it won't be making its way to PC at launch - and probably won't for quite a while, reminding me once again of just how much I dislike console exclusivity as a PC gamer.

I made it clear in a previous article that waiting for a title like GTA 6 with PC as my primary platform is painful. I do indeed have the opportunity to buy it on my PS5 first and play on PC later down the line, but it's not an easy choice when the PC port will more than likely be the superior product - it also doesn't help that there are discussions that the game will cost more than the already egregious $70 / £70 / around AU$110 industry-standard asking price (don't even get me started on that).

Now, I must highlight a key difference - exclusivity for first-party Sony games (while still very annoying) is a bit more reasonable, especially since many of them have made their way to PC recently and will continue to do so. However, timed exclusivity - particularly in this case, since Rockstar Games is not owned by a console manufacturer like Sony or Microsoft - is downright infuriating.

PC ports may need extra time to be optimized, but that's not always the case...

PC ports of console games do need extra time to optimize, and while I'm fully aware of that (especially with all the dreadful recent ports), there are multiple games that launch on both PC and console on the same date and are well-optimized.

A prime example of this is the recent launch of Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 from Warhorse Studios - now before I am hunted down for using this as a reference, I am very cognizant that Rockstar Games' standard when it comes to open-world games is far above most other developers in terms of scale, so it will take extra time for attention to detail. But Warhorse's title has launched on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC simultaneously, and is currently being lauded for its immersive open-world experience, along with great optimization and hardly any performance issues.

By this metric, games like GTA 6 should only launch once it's ready for all platforms instead of consoles alone - yes, that means even if it has to be delayed for optimization sake, but I beg to differ that this is the reason why it won't come to PC day one.

I fully believe that Rockstar's blockbuster titles could be released on consoles and PC on the same date if its parent company, Take-Two Interactive, sanctioned it - but a staggered release will tempt PC players like myself to buy the game on console from fear of missing out, and then potentially wait more than a year to buy it again on the desired platform.

This is the strategy Take-Two Interactive has adopted for years, dating back to GTA 4's PC launch several months after consoles - it's obvious that this will boost sales, and it reiterates the reasons of why I hate console exclusivity (I'm looking at you Sony).

Timed exclusives need to be eliminated, for good

Microsoft's new approach is that gamers should be able to play all games regardless of the platform - we've seen Xbox games announced for PS5 recently (with a large majority already on PC), but the same can't be said on Sony's end.

Sony may not be obliged to follow the same sentiment as its rival (regarding first-party exclusives) which is fair, but not so much so for its timed exclusives. Final Fantasy 16 from Square Enix (who also isn't owned by Sony), released on PS5 in 2023 and launched on PC a year later. Resident Evil 4 (remake) VR Mode is still exclusive to Sony's PSVR2, despite Capcom being a third-party partner. Death Stranding released on PS4 in 2019, and launched on PC in 2020. Do you see where I'm going with this?

In my opinion, it's completely unfair and unjust for third-party games to be held as an exclusive to one platform - there may indeed be cases where titles need more time in the oven for PC, but I certainly don't think it's always the case.

PC (and even in some cases Xbox) owners should not have to wait years for a port due to timed exclusivity - and in this case regarding GTA 6, there will be PC gamers (who don't own any consoles) that may feel forced to buy a PS5 or Xbox Series X to avoid spoilers and dive into the highly anticipated game right away.

It's unlikely that this will change any time soon: my biggest compromise has always been cross-saves being a prerequisite for timed exclusives, as this will at least give gamers a guarantee of picking up where they left off on another platform. Will this happen though? Honestly, I doubt it - and that is why change must start soon.

Rockstar Games has acquired Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy - The Definitive Edition developer Video Games Deluxe.

The news comes from a recent press release where it was announced that Rockstar had officially purchased the Sydney-based studio and has now renamed it Rockstar Australia.

The developer has worked with Rockstar on several titles in the past, including the 2017 re-releases of L.A. Noire and L.A. Noire: The VR Case Files, as well as the 2021 iOS, Android, Netflix, and console upgrades for Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy -The Definitive Edition.

"After working together closely over many years, we are excited to have Video Games Deluxe join the team as Rockstar Australia," said Rockstar Games head of publishing, Jennifer Kolbe.

Video Games Deluxe was founded in 2013 by Brendan McNamara, but Rockstar's relationship originally began with McNamara's former studio Team Bondi and the development of L.A. Noire, which first launched in 2011.

"It’s been an honor to work closely with Rockstar Games this past decade," said McNamara. "We are thrilled to be a part of Rockstar Games and to continue our efforts to make the best games possible."

This acquisition comes ahead of the release of Grand Theft Auto 6, which is scheduled to be released in Fall 2025 for PS5, Xbox Series X, and Xbox Series S. We don't have a specific launch date just yet, but Take-Two has reaffirmed the game won't be delayed and will arrive this year.

In the meantime, Rockstar has announced a free PC upgrade for Grand Theft Auto 5, which is set to arrive today and includes upgrades previously only available on console.

Rockstar Games has announced that a free PC upgrade for Grand Theft Auto 5 will be released next month that will add PS5, Xbox Series X, and Xbox Series S features.

The studio shared the details in a new blog post confirming that the update will be available on March 4 and have features previously only available in the console versions of GTA Online.

These include the latest vehicles and performance upgrades at Hao's Special Works, animal encounters, GTA+ Membership access, as well as improved graphics, ray-tracing features, faster loading times, DualSense Wireless Controller support, and more.

The upgraded version of the game will also feature the most recent player improvements for GTA Online, which include kernel-based anti-cheat protection and proactive voice chat moderation.

Players who download the free upgrade will also be given the ability to migrate their Story Mode and Online progress.

With the addition of features like ambient occlusion, global illumination, ray-traced shadows and reflections, as well as Nvidia DLSS 3, AMD FSR1, and FSR3 support, the new and improved version of GTA 5 also means PC specifications are changing.

You can take a look at the minimum and recommended specs below to make sure your PC can handle the new upgrade.

Rockstar confirmed that support for the previous version of GTA 5 will continue for players whose hardware doesn't fulfill the minimum requirements.

However, for the original version of GTA Online, players who remain on that previous version will not be able to play in online sessions with those with the upgraded patch.

"PC Players who want to play with each other will need to ensure they’re playing the same version of the game," Rockstar said. "Both versions will be available to everyone who upgrades - and first-time purchasers will get access to both versions as well."

The upcoming patch comes as we eagerly await the release of Grand Theft Auto 6, which is scheduled to be released in Fall 2025 for PS5, Xbox Series X, and Xbox Series S. Unfortunately, much like the GTA 5, a PC version will arrive later; reportedly in early 2026.

Take-Two Interactive CEO Strauss Zelnick expects to see a rise in PS5 and Xbox Series X sales ahead of the release of Grand Theft Auto 6 later this year.

Speaking to IGN around the company's recent financial results, Zelnick was asked if the lack of a PC release day-and-date with console for the highly-anticipated game could be a mistake.

Zelnick mentioned that, historically, Rockstar hasn't released previous games, like Grand Theft Auto 5 and Red Dead Redemption 2, on multiple platforms and has primarily always focused on launching on console first.

He also acknowledged that PC is becoming a "more important part of what used to be a console business" and he "wouldn't be surprised to see that trend continue".

Sony and Microsoft haven't announced their next-gen consoles just yet, and although there has been a recent decline in PlayStation and Xbox hardware sales, the Take-Two boss isn't worried about GTA 6 performing poorly at launch on current gen. He thinks there will be an uptick in sales due to the excitement surrounding Rockstar's next game and thinks fans will make the jump to PS5 and Xbox Series X because of it.

"When you have a big title in the market and we have many of them coming, historically that has sold consoles. And I think that will happen this year," Zelnick said.

"I don't think tariffs are going to be our friend, but I think there will be a meaningful uptick in console sales in calendar 25 because of the release schedule, not just coming from us, but coming from others. So I'm not concerned about that [console sales falling]. I think the trend that you'd want to focus on is this increasing share of the market that is reflected in PC."

GTA 6 is currently scheduled to launch in the Fall of 2025, but it's unclear when the potential PC version could be released.

A former Rockstar developer has said Grand Theft Auto 6 will be locked at 30FPS on PS5, Xbox Series X, and Xbox Series S.

In a now-deleted Kiwi Talkz podcast episode, Mike York, who previously worked on Grand Theft Auto 5 and Red Dead Redemption 2 as an animator, shared his thoughts on the next GTA entry and expects the game to run at 30FPS on console (thanks, GamesRadar).

"I don't know if they'll be able to pull off 60fps," York said. "I don't think so. I think they're gonna be shooting for 30fps – and a locked 30fps, meaning it never dips below that.

"They're gonna try to optimize as much as they can to where it never goes below 30. But it can be bumped up to 40, 41, 52, whatever, and I bet you, like, later, once it's on PC, it'll probably get super optimized and changed and new graphics cards that come out and you'll be able to run it at 60fps probably at that time."

When GTA 5 first launched in 2013, the game ran at 30FPS on PS3 and Xbox 360 but later received a 60FPS upgrade when the game eventually came to PS5 and Xbox Series X. If GTA 6 launches locked at 30FPS, we'll likely see a similar boost in performance next-gen.

"I don't think [at the] initial release it'll come out at 60fps unless it's getting those 60fps by [using] an AI upscaler thing like the PlayStation is doing, unless something is coming in and helping it get those 60fps," York added. "I don't think it'll get the 60fps raw out the gate on a base console. PS5, for instance. Maybe PS5 Pro, or whatever, but I still don't think so.

"I don't know what they're doing over there. I don't know how massive this is going to be. But from my experience, they're going to squeeze every little freaking thing they can out of it and then optimize later for 60 frames because it's not as important as just making the game amazing at 30 frames."

GTA 6 is expected to launch in the Fall of 2025, but it's unclear when the potential PC version will be released.

An analyst has claimed that there are those in the games industry who are hoping Grand Theft Auto 6 will cost up to $100,

That's according to Epyllion's Matthew Ball (via IGN), who recently released his State of Video Gaming in 2025 report. In it, he said that there are some developers and publishers in the industry that "hope" Take-Two will raise GTA 6's price from the current standard of $70 to between $80 and $100.

Ball reported that if Take-Two were to break the "$70 barrier", $50 games could "move up to $60, $60 to do $70, $70 to $80 etc."

AAA video games are already quite pricey nowadays, but the analyst says that a $70 GTA 6 would be the "cheapest" Grand Theft Auto game ever released.

"Packaged game prices have never been lower in real terms than they are today - even though budgets are at all-time highs and player growth is stalled," Ball explained. "GTA 6 could re-establish packed video game prices after decades of deflation despite rampant cost growth."

Following the publishing of the report, Michael Douse, publishing director at Larian Studios, responded by saying, "You’re not supposed to say this out loud!"

"A good company raises salaries in line with inflation so that their staff don’t die or something, but games prices haven’t risen with inflation," Douse added.

"This isn’t the reason the industry is in the sh*t for now, but it is an uncomfortable truth. On the other hand, the responsibility for a game developer is to make sure that the game they show lives up to that promise, and that investment from the player."

Regardless of the price point, GTA 6, which is expected to launch in Fall 2025, is predicted to hit a total revenue of $3.2 billion in its first 12 months, which is around double what Grand Theft Auto 5 achieved in the same amount of time.

The latest financial results from Rockstar owner Take-Two Interactive, which were released yesterday November 6, have confirmed that the highly-anticipated Grand Theft Auto 6 is still on track for a 'fall 2025' release.

The first trailer for Grand Theft Auto 6 debuted in December last year, confirming a 2025 release window. This was later narrowed down to “fall of calendar 2025” in a similar Take-Two financial report in May this year.

If you had any doubts that the game was on track to release at that time, then it looks like you can put those worries to rest for now. A newly revealed slide from the recent Q2 2025 Take-Two Interactive earnings call reaffirmed that the game is still “planned to release in fall of Calendar 2025” - in other words, towards the end of next year.

Cops and robbers

The same slide also explains that Grand Theft Auto 5, first launched in 2013, has sold over 205 million units to date. According to the company, it also “reached $1 billion in retail sales faster than any entertainment release in history.” Whether its sequel will be able to match these lofty sales figures has yet to be seen, but it wouldn’t be too surprising given the level of anticipation surrounding the title.

Little is currently known about the plot of Grand Theft Auto 6, though the reveal trailer points to a return to the fan-favorite locale of Vice City which has been featured in previous games. According to recent leaks, it will follow dual protagonists as they go head to head with the law.

Expect the same satirical tone as other entries, plus plenty of references to politics and modern culture. We also know that the game is coming to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, and Xbox Series S, with a PC version yet to be confirmed.

A former Grand Theft Auto developer has said the past Grand Theft Auto 6 leaks are unimportant and only happen due to Rockstar's secrecy.

Speaking in a recent interview with San In Play (via GamesRadar) Grand Theft Auto 3 and GTA: San Andreas developer Obbe Vermeij was asked to comment on the GTA 6 leaks that occurred in September 2022. 

According to Vermeij, he was aware of the video that was shared online, but he didn't follow the news closely at the time simply because "the leaks are usually not as important as people think."

"It's just because there are millions of people waiting for any news, and Rockstar doesn't give them any news," Vermeij explained. 

The developer continues, saying that he understands why studios keep quiet about projects: "because whenever a big company says anything, whether it's Rockstar or EA or Ubisoft of whatever, it gets analyzed and it often gets run negatively. It turns into a negative thing."

He added: "From their point of view, their best bet is just to be quiet. That's what they're doing. It's a shame it's gone that way, but it's not just their fault."

Following the game's official reveal in December 2023, which confirmed long-time rumors that the game will feature two playable protagonists, Lucia and Jason, publisher Take-Two Interactive said that it is "highly-confident" in the game's fall 2025 release date. 

Grand Theft Auto 6 is set to launch on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, and Xbox Series S, but there's no word on a potential PC release just yet.

Although we've only received a single cinematic trailer, we do know that the next major title in the GTA series will be set in the state of Leonida, which will see players returning to Vice City, which Rockstar describes as "the biggest, most immersive evolution of the Grand Theft Auto series yet".

Grand Theft Auto 6 publisher Take-Two Interactive is "highly-confident" in the game's autumn 2025 release window. 

Last week (May 17), it was revealed in Take-Two's most recent financial report that the next major Grand Theft Auto title will be launching in late 2025 despite earlier reports of delays as Rockstar Games urged staff to return to the office. 

Speaking in recent interview CNCB that was spotted by Eurogamer, Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick has reaffirmed the game's 2025 release date, but acknowledges that there is "slippage in the industry".

"We are not immune from that," Zelnick said, "However, we narrowed the timing because we are highly confident in that time."

When asked what determines a game's release date, the CEO explained that it generally comes down to things like "the number of bugs" but for GTA 6, it's also about "creating an experience that no one has seen before".

"Every one of us will make sure we have as few bugs in a title as possible before we launch," Zelnick said. "However, in the case of an extraordinary title for which there are extraordinary expectations, it's not really about bugs, it's about creating an experience that no one has seen before.

"And Rockstar Games seeks perfection in what they do. Perfection is indeed hard to measure, it really is more subjective than objective."

Voice actor Troy Baker has set the record straight on Grand Theft Auto 6 casting, confirming that he will not be playing the male protagonist.

In a recent interview with The Movie Dweeb (via IGN), the actor - known for his roles in The Last of Us, Far Cry 4, Uncharted 4: A Thief's End, and more - was asked if he was aware of the ongoing fan theories that he is the voice behind Jason, GTA 6's male protagonist. 

The character is featured in the official reveal trailer, which quickly broke the record for YouTube's most-viewed trailer launch of all time, alongside the female protagonist Lucia, and can be heard saying only one line: "Trust."

Naturally, GTA fans were quick to pick apart the trailer in its entirety, while speculation grew over the cast of the game, with some comparing Jason's voice to Baker's. 

"That 'trust' said in the trailer by Jason is either the sweet voice of Joel Miller acted by Troy Baker, or someone is doing a pretty spot on impersonation of him," said one user on the GTA 6 subreddit. 

However, Baker has finally laid the rumors to bed and confirmed that it's not him.

"He says one word," Baker said in response. "I want that guy, whoever it is, to get credit for his work because I'm sure it's going to be great, and I know many people who worked for Rockstar - Roger Clark [Red Dead Redemption 2's Arthur Morgan] and Ned Luke [Grand Theft Auto 5's Michael De Santa] - and that's a grind.

"Those guys pour themselves into those characters and they deserve all the credit for their work. Not me."

It's uncertain when GTA 6 will launch, but Rockstar Games has given fans a tentative 2025 release window for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, with no word on a potential PC release. The next entry in the GTA series will take place in the fictional state of Leonida, which encompasses Vice City and beyond and will feature a much bigger map than GTA 5.

Alongside the company’s latest earnings report, Take-Two Interactive CEO Strauss Zelnick has been reflecting on the effects of the recent Grand Theft Auto 6 trailer leak.

If you’ve somehow already forgotten, the trailer for the upcoming entry in the Grand Theft Auto series suddenly appeared on Twitter / X on the day before its planned reveal. This prompted developer Rockstar Games to officially post the trailer hours before its intended release, sending gaming news writers everywhere into a panicked frenzy.

In a new interview with IGN in advance of the earnings call, Zelnick described the trailer leak as “disappointing”. Even so, he went on to say that he does not believe that the leak has harmed the company in any significant way.

"It's amazing when the trailer announcement is huge news, and then we were very gratified when the trailer broke the internet,” he explained. "In terms of the leak, that's always disappointing for the team, but ultimately, I don't think it hurt us."

The trailer has already racked up a jaw-dropping 174 million views on YouTube. It also broke the record for the most-viewed trailer launch of all time on the platform, which is an impressive achievement. You can see the GTA 6 trailer for yourself below:

Although it’s impossible to know what would have happened without the trailer leak, these massive numbers could suggest that the leak might not have had much of an impact on the number of people interested in the trailer for GTA 6.

On the other hand, it’s also easy to imagine that the trailer would have performed similarly well either way given the massive cultural icon that its predecessor, Grand Theft Auto 5, has become.

Set for release some time in 2025, GTA 6 is easily one of the most exciting and anticipated upcoming games right now. Set in the classic fan-favorite locale of Vice City, we’re very much looking forward to getting to grips with its world and characters.

GTA 6 release date

GTA 6 will launch May 26, 2026 on Xbox Series X|S and PS5. This was revealed on May 2, 2025, delaying the game into 2026. We'll have to wait for more info. In terms of a GTA 6 PC release, an ex-Rockstar dev has explained why GTA 6 won't come to PC at launch: 'This stuff is very complicated'.

Interestingly, GTA 6 will be able to make use of the extra power provided by the PS5 Pro at launch. Nothing has been confirmed yet, but unless Xbox launches a competitor, the best place to play GTA 6 could be Sony's most powerful console. We expect there to be a dedicated PS5 enhanced version of GTA 6, but we'll have to wait and see what Rockstar announces.

In terms of when to expect a PC port, you might not have to wait long for GTA 6. This is according to Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick, who had this to say in a recent interview with IGN:

"In an interview with IGN ahead of the company's recent financial results, Zelnick was asked whether the lack of a PC release is a mistake given the platform's prevalence.

"With Civ 7 it's available on console and PC and Switch right away,” he replied, referencing the recent multi-platform release of Sid Meier's Civilization 7. “With regard to others in our lineup, we don't always go across all platforms simultaneously. Historically, Rockstar [Games] has started with some platforms and then historically moved to other platforms.”

It's expected that GTA 6 will be a colossal hit, with Take-Two boss Strauss Zelnick recently predicting sales of current generation consoles to rise.

When was GTA 6 announced?

GTA 6 was announced on February 4, 2022 via the Tweet embedded above. Ultimately, this was just confirmation that Rockstar was indeed working on GTA 6, and no other details were given aside from the fact that the game was in active development.

There's been two GTA 6 trailers revealed so far. The latest was released on May 6, 2025, and focused more on Jason. He picks Lucia up from prison, and then we're introduced to a bunch of new main characters. Check it out, embedded above.

The first Grand Theft Auto 6 trailer was revealed by Rockstar on December 4, 2023, after it leaked online. The trailer was initially scheduled for release the following day, but timelines were shifted. You can check it out above, in all its sun-drenched glory. It's 91 seconds long, and introduces us to Lucia, one of GTA 6's main protagonists. You'll also get some gorgeous shots of Vice City beaches, bars, and even an alligator.

GTA 6 is set in Vice City

We now know that GTA 6 will be set in the state of Leonida, which encompasses Vice City and beyond. In a newswire post, published just after the trailer, Rockstar describes the area as 'the biggest, most immersive evolution of the Grand Theft Auto series yet'. We see a fair few shots of Vice City in the debut trailer, and loads of screenshots on the main website. GTA 6 will feature Vice City, Leonida Keys, Grassrivers, Port Gellhorn, Ambrosia and Mount Galaha as its main areas.

A Bloomberg report published in 2022 claims that GTA 6's map was much bigger to begin with, encompassing areas based on both North and South America. This was apparently cut back during development, with Rockstar Games shifting and narrowing its focus to Vice City and the surrounding areas. These are likely the swamps and bridges we see in the trailer, based loosely on the Florida Keys.

While this smaller launch map may sound disappointing at first, it's worth digging into other parts of the aforementioned report. Specifically, the fact that GTA 6's map may not remain static post-launch. Apparently, Rockstar plans to update the map with more cities and interior locations after release, mainly to give developers more breathing room and to cut down on overtime while GTA 6 is being worked on. According to Bloomberg, there will be new missions and new map areas added "on a regular basis".

GTA 6 story and playable characters

Rockstar Games revealed the first trailer for GTA 6 on December 4, 2023. In it, we're introduced to Lucia Caminos, one of the main protagonists of GTA 6. Then the following trailer focused more on Jason Duval who is ex-army, and currently working as a small-time drug smuggler around The Keys.

In terms of the story, GTA 6 looks set to follow the couple as they attempt to pull off a big score. Aside from that, we know that it'll take place in and around Vice City, and that Lucia has been incarcerated after a fight gone wrong. We'll need to wait to hear more on whether GTA 6 will indeed allow players to control Lucia and her partner, but for now, it looks like the two share the main role.

Plenty of side characters have been revealed so far, likely the ones that'll be handing out missions in-game. The first is Boobie Ike, a Vice City legend with an empire spanning strip clubs, bars and a recording studio. Then there's Cal Hampton, an internet conspiracy nut who's a friend of Jason's.

It was rumored at one point that The Last of Us actor Troy Baker might be playing the male protagonist in GTA 6. Since then, we now know that no, Troy Baker isn't playing Grand Theft Auto 6's male protagonist, with the voice actor saying: "I want that guy, whoever it is, to get credit for his work".

Analyst says there are those in the gaming industry who ‘hope’ GTA 6 will cost up to $100
An analyst has claimed that there are those in the games industry who are hoping Grand Theft Auto 6 will cost up to $100.

That's according to Epyllion's Matthew Ball (via IGN), who recently released his State of Video Gaming in 2025 report. In it, he said that there are some developers and publishers in the industry that "hope" Take-Two will raise GTA6's price from the current standard of $70 to between $80 and $100.

GTA 6 is predicted to be “one of the biggest entertainment launches in history"
This comes from market research firm DFC Intelligence (via the Financial Times), which states that it is likely to generate more than $1 billion in pre-orders alone. DFC Intelligence predicts that the game will hit a total revenue of $3.2 billion in its first 12 months, which is roughly double what its predecessor Grand Theft Auto 5 achieved in the same time period.

Publishers are reportedly not announcing firm release dates to dodge GTA 6 launch
A recent Bloomberg article states that "anticipation is so high” for GTA 6 that “some competing game publishers are waiting as long as possible to commit to their release dates for the fall”. This is reportedly so that the publishers can know whether GTA 6 will actually hit its current release window and “keep their own games far, far away" if it does.

GTA 6 is being described as one of the most important games in history
In an interview with GI.biz (via IGN), industry analyst Mat Piscatella commented that GTA 6 will be an extremely important release, not just for Rockstar, but the industry as a whole: 'There's probably never been a more important thing to ever release in the industry, so no pressure.'

Rockstar addresses GTA 6 leak
Rockstar Games formally confirmed that the GTA 6 leak that occurred in September 2022 was real. Releasing a statement via Twitter, the team advised this included "early development footage for the next Grand Theft Auto." While they didn't comment on particular details spotted in the leak, the team said it's "extremely disappointed to have any details of our next game shared this way."

Crucially, Rockstar's statement advised that the leak shouldn't cause any delays, stating "we do not anticipate any disruption to our live game services nor any long-term effect on the development of our ongoing projects." Promising an official update to this next game "when it is ready."

The hacker behind the Grand Theft Auto 6 leaks which appeared online in September 2022 has been sentenced to an indefinite hospital order.

As the BBC reports, Arion Kurtaj, 18, from Oxford, was involved with the hacking group Lapsus$, which previously attacked Nvidia and Uber. Although Kurtaj was deemed unfit to stand trial, a mental health assessment reportedly concluded that he “continued to express the intent to return to cyber-crime as soon as possible.”

A judge stated that Kurtaj is a high risk to the public due to his intent to commit more cyber-crimes, as well as his skills that could enable him to do so. Furthermore, the court was told that he had been violent while in custody, and that there had been dozens of reports of property damage and injury. He will stay in a secure hospital indefinitely, unless he’s later considered to be harmless by doctors. 

Kurtaj carried out the hack on Rockstar Games while under police protection in a hotel, while on bail for separate cyber-crimes, the jury was told. He reportedly used his mobile phone, hotel TV and an Amazon Fire Stick to carry out the crime, which Rockstar Games told the court cost the company $5 million, as well as thousands of hours to recover from. 

At the time of the hack, Rockstar Games had not yet released any footage of GTA 6, nor had the game’s title been revealed. It was simply known that “active development for the next entry in the Grand Theft Auto series is well underway.” 

Shortly after the hack took place, Rockstar Games released a public statement in which it announced that it had “suffered a network intrusion in which an unauthorized third-party illegally accessed and downloaded confidential information from our systems.” It added: “We are extremely disappointed to have any details of our next game shared with you all in this way.”

GTA 6 has now been officially unveiled, and is one of the most highly anticipated upcoming games on the horizon.

A former developer at Rockstar has shone a light on why Grand Theft Auto 6 (GTA 6) will be launching on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S before any potential PC release in the future.

Speaking on his YouTube channel, ex-Rockstar developer Mike York, who now works at Highwire Games, reveals that part of the reasoning behind the game's initial console-only release window of 2025 could well be sales-driven (via IGN). 

“The reason why a PC port comes later and not the first thing that comes out, is because they want to prioritize what sells,” said York. "Most of the time, especially in the past, PlayStation was the big seller. PlayStation was the console to have. It sold more than any other console for the most part."

However, a possible skew towards sales on PlayStation isn't the only reason that the PC version lacks a release window of its own, at least according to York. 

"One of the main reasons why a PC port will take so long is because [PCs have] different architecture and different components,” added York. "On a PlayStation and an Xbox, each one of those has one graphics card, and [...] it’s the same architecture inside the box as every single PlayStation that’s shipped to millions of people. But when it comes to a PC, every single person has a different PC."

In practice, this means that a lot more testing is required to ensure that GTA 6 has a stable PC version. "When you’re doing the PC port you have to test things on multiple different hardware [setups], different GPUs. Not just one or two, but 10 or 20," continued York. 

It's reassuring to have an explanation as to why GTA 6's releases might be staggered in this way. However, it's worth bearing in mind that none of this is official word from Rockstar. 

Given the extreme cultural cache of GTA, it's important to remember that Rockstar is a developer like any other, and must deal with the same technical challenges as everyone else. As for us at TechRadar Gaming, we can't wait to see more of the game.
