Modern laptops might've tried to kill off the built-in optical drive, but physical media is far from dead. Case in point: the Dell DW316 Slim external USB DVD-RW drive for $39 at Amazon.

Physical media is making a serious comeback (my hardware editor, with his massive library of films, games, and books, argues that it never went away). In fact, this Dell USB writer proved essential when I wanted to watch my wedding video from 20 years ago, which was locked on DVD.

If you need to rip CDs and DVDs, access archived files, or just kick back and watch a movie, the USB-powered Dell DW316 is an easy recommendation from me.

Why we recommend it

I put the Dell DW316 to good use myself this year when my wife and I celebrated our 20th wedding anniversary. As I mentioned, our wedding video is still on DVD and this gave us an easy way to watch it again.

Beyond digital nostalgia, it's a really practical upgrade to access older software, music, movies and other physical media that would otherwise be left gathering dust.

And unlike files stored on a computer, in the cloud or on a storage device, data burned to a write-once disc can't be accidentally deleted, overwritten or changed, giving you a permanent physical copy. Write-once media can create a physical copy of important documents, photos or other files that can be kept offline and separate from your computer.

The drive is just 14mm thick and weighs 200g. Power comes directly from your laptop's USB port, eliminating the need for a separate power adapter. It can also create discs using CyberLink Media Suite 12 which comes supplied free.

Price context & historical value

This drive has never been priced above $52 (at least, not since 2015), while its lowest price was $16 back in 2020. General trends show it more or less holds its price at around the $35 to $40 mark. For comparison, Dell's external disc drive is also available at the same price, $40 (was $50) at Best Buy.

Should you buy it?

✅ Buy the Dell DW316 if...

You occasionally need to access old CDs, DVDs or disc-based software, or want an inexpensive way to create physical copies of important files. The drive's small size means you can keep it tucked away until you actually need it.

❌ Skip the Dell DW316 if...

You need Blu-ray support or regularly work with large amounts of data. DVDs have limited capacity compared with modern storage devices, and this drive can't read or write Blu-rays.

The Catch: What to know before you buy

The DW316 connects over USB and is an older optical-drive design, so don't expect the transfer speeds you'd get from an external SSD or flash drive. Its purpose is accessing and creating optical media rather than moving large files quickly.

You'll also need compatible blank writable discs if you intend to use it for backups or archiving, adding a small additional cost on top of the $35 price.

The 2026 Apple September Event is today, and rumors suggest the tech giant will introduce its newest smartwatch, the Apple Watch Series 12.

While we can't comment on what new features the smartwatch will offer, we can recommend the excellent Garmin Venu 3, which I've spotted on sale for a record-low of $288 (originally $449.99) at Amazon. That's a whopping $161 discount and an incredible price for a smartwatch that's packed with health and fitness features.

The Garmin Venu 3 earned four and a half stars in our review, and we said it was a 'near-perfect balance of smartwatch and health tracker'.

Great for outdoor and fitness enthusiasts, the Venu 3 offers advanced GPS tracking, a water-resistant design, a dedicated LED flashlight, and up to 14 days of battery life. The smartwatch also tracks heart rate, respiration, blood oxygen saturation, sleep, and stress levels, and includes a speaker and microphone so you can take calls from your wrist.

While the newest Apple Watch will undoubtedly be packed with new technology and health insights, most people won't need these features, and it will likely start at $399.99 based on its predecessor. The Garmin Venu 3 is down to just $288, making it a fantastic smartwatch, especially for runners, cyclists, hikers, and swimmers.

Looking for the perfect compact everyday shooter for travel or street photography? The brand-new OM System PEN could be a fantastic option for you. Preorders are now open for this affordable new rangefinder-style camera ahead of an October 1st release date, and several retailers have already updated their sites with listings.

Probably the best option for preorder today is over at Adorama, where you can get yourself a free wrist strap alongside both the body-only and kit-lens options. The strap in question is a black Clever Supply Skinny Wrist Strap worth $54, so it's definitely a nice little freebie that should complement your new camera nicely.

If you're in the UK (or USA but would prefer to order a camera elsewhere), I've attached a roundup of other options below. Major retailers like B&H Photo, Wex Video Photo, and Park Cameras are all stocking the camera today, so there should (hopefully) be plenty of stock available for early adopters.

Note that the OM System Pen starts at $999.99 / £849 for the body, with additional kit lens options. The lens kit, meanwhile, with the new M.Zuiko 14-42mm f/3.5-5.6 III, is just an additional $100 / £100, which could be a better value option if you're new to the system, and looks like a particularly good option for travel photography. Not only is this kit a bargain, but the lens is also weather-sealed (unlike previous iterations).

Where to buy the OM System PEN

What's new with the PEN?

• 2.36-million-dot OLED EVF
• IPX1-rated dust-and-splash resistance
• BLS-7 battery with USB-C charging

Much of the PEN's spec sheet will seem familiar to fans of the brand. As with most releases from OM System, the PEN is essentially re-using a lot of pre-existing tech in a new body at a lower price. However, its combination of a retro compact body, built-in viewfinder, image stabilization, weather resistance and accessible price makes it an attractive entry-level mirrorless camera, particularly for smartphone users.

Unlike the previous Olympus EP-7, the PEN now features a 2.36-million-dot OLED electronic viewfinder as well as IPX1-rated dust-and-splash resistance. Internally, you're still getting the familiar 20.4MP Micro Four Thirds sensor with 5-axis image stabilisation rated to 5.5EV, but the 121-point phase-detection autofocus with subject detection is a key upgrade.

Other upgrades include OM System's latest computational photography features, namely Live ND, new color profiles, and two Cinema picture modes aimed at 4K video. Like the higher-end OM-3, the PEN is designed from the ground up for JPEG customization thanks to a new color/monochrome switch which provides quick access to film-inspired looks.

Finally, it's worth mentioning that the PEN debuts a new BLS-7 battery, rated for an impressive 410 shots per charge, as well as support for USB-C charging - another massive boon for travel photography.

Is the PEN worth preordering?

We haven't fully reviewed the OM System PEN yet, but my initial impression of the camera is positive. It's 'nothing new', so to speak, but the rock-bottom price that the brand is aiming for has the potential to make this one a crowd favorite.

For one, I don't think any other brand is offering a package quite like this for $1,000. With inflation and various tariffs, we've become accustomed to spiralling costs, so it's refreshing to see a brand-new camera with a viewfinder, weather sealing, and a stylish design for this price.

Perhaps the closest competitor to the OM System PEN is the Fujifilm X-M5 - one of our favorite entry-level cameras here at TechRadar. Both cameras share a stunning rangefinder-style design and enticing price point, but the PEN looks like the better choice for photographers, in my opinion. The X-M5 has far superior video specs, but it lacks image stabilization, a viewfinder, and weather sealing.

With such features, the PEN looks like a very, very compelling budget option compared to the likes of the Fujifilm X-E5. That's another one of our favorite rangefinder-style bodies, but it comes in at an eye-watering $1,799 / £1,399 for the body-only. In comparison, the PEN is a more entry-level body, but it's definitely a good option if you're happy with 20MP.

Proton's Unlimited plan has dropped $120, making now the cheapest time to ditch Google entirely, should you wish.

The plan includes everything you'd expect from Google's privacy-unfriendly suite: Docs, Drive, Calendar, Mail, Sheets, and so on. But, it also throws in extras such as Proton VPN, one of the best VPNs available, and Proton Pass, a premium password manager which includes the super-handy email aliasing feature.

Normally, the Proton Unlimited bundle costs $12.99 per month over two years, billed as $311.76.

This deal brings a 38% discount, making it $7.99/month. That saves $120, bringing the total 2-year cost to $191.76.

Unlike Google's suite, all of Proton's tools are end-to-end encrypted and ad-free. This means whatever you send, upload, or create is protected from snoopers looking to intercept your information to use maliciously or sell online.

This is the lowest Proton Unlimited price we've seen in 2026 but we don't know how long it'll last. So, if you're interested, sign up now to lock in the deal, and you can always make use of Proton's 30-day money-back guarantee if you change your mind.

While ditching Google entirely might seem scary, Proton is taking steps to make it as simple as possible.

Its 'Easy Switch' tool sits at the heart of this. It allows you to sign into your old email account, from which Proton automatically pulls information such as your emails, contacts, and calendar.

Files aren't quite so slick but Proton has guides for transferring from services such as Google Drive, OneDrive and more to help you get started.

I've used Proton's privacy suite for nearly two years now. Since the addition of Meet and Sheets (alongside Calendar, Docs, Drive, Mail, Pass and Wallet) it now feels more like Google Workspace than ever, and it's all far more secure.

All of the tools included can be signed up for separately. Most are pricey on their own but the Unlimited bundle makes it really good value.

DDR5 might be the memory standard for newer PCs, but it costs far more than DDR4, especially when you're shopping for faster or higher-capacity kits.

If you're upgrading a DDR4 system, I've found a terrific deal on the G.Skill 32GB Trident Z RGB for $215 (was $258) at Newegg when you use code LUYRF222.

For your money, you get two 16GB DDR4-3600 modules with CL18 timings, aluminum heat spreaders, customizable RGB lighting and Intel XMP 2.0 support.

Why we recommend it

32GB is enough memory for demanding multitasking, gaming and creative applications. The DDR4-3600 speed is also a good fit for compatible DDR4 systems, particularly if you're upgrading an older machine that's currently running slower or lower-capacity memory.

The two matched 16GB modules provide a dual-channel configuration, with timings of 18-22-22-42 at 1.35V.

G.Skill's Trident Z design adds aluminum heat spreaders and customizable RGB lighting, making this a good choice if your PC has a windowed case and you want your memory to complement other RGB components.

Price context & historical value

Newegg sells the 32GB Skill Trident Z RGB kit for $257.49, and it's currently available for $249.99. Using coupon code LUYRF222 brings the final price down to $214.99.

While that's a decent price in today's inflated memory market, it's worth remembering just how much cheaper DDR4 used to be. Newegg sold this exact G.Skill kit for just $69.99 in August 2023, less than a third of its current discounted price.

Unfortunately, it's unlikely to drop down to that level again, so the current deal is worth considering if you need to upgrade your DDR4 system now.

Should you buy it?

✅ Buy the 32GB G.Skill Trident Z RGB kit if...

You have a compatible DDR4 desktop and want to increase its memory capacity without replacing your motherboard and processor to move to DDR5. The combination of 32GB capacity and DDR4-3600 speed makes it a solid upgrade for an older system.

❌ Skip the 32GB G.Skill Trident Z RGB kit if...

You're building a completely new PC around a recent processor and motherboard. In that situation, I'd seriously consider DDR5 instead, as you'll be investing in the newer memory standard rather than spending more than $200 on DDR4 that you won't be able to carry over to a future platform.

The Catch: What to know before you buy

You'll need to enable XMP, DOCP or A-XMP in your BIOS to reach the kit's advertised DDR4-3600 speed on compatible hardware. Otherwise, the memory will initially run at its default SPD speed.

Compatibility is also important. G.Skill recommends checking its motherboard QVL, and it specifically warns against mixing separate memory kits, even when their specifications appear identical, as doing so can cause stability problems.

This is easily one of the best-value SIM deals I've seen right now - and it's a steal for data-guzzlers, regular travellers, and anyone who hates being locked into a monthly contract.

Unlimited data, calls, and text, and free European roaming data make this one of the best-value SIM deals around right now.

At £15 a month, rather than £35, you get EE's reliable network speeds with absolutely no contract to sign, so you can cancel any time.

The generous 25GB data roaming for Europe is ideal for frequent travellers (whether that's for work or pleasure). And it's more than enough data allowance for streaming, video calls, map navigation, and checking messages and emails when public or hotel Wi-Fi is slow.

I haven't seen a similar cost with similar benefits from EE either on Amazon or direct from the network provider.

Price context & historical value

No two ways about it, £15 a month for unlimited data, calls, and text is an excellent price. For comparison, an Unlimited Rolling SIM plan without the 25GB European data roaming is priced at £25 a month at Amazon. Buying a monthly contract unlimited SIM with no free roaming data direct from EE is currently £23 a month.

✅ Buy the EE Unlimited Rolling SIM if...

You don't want to sign up to a monthly contract, use a lot of data at home, or you're often traveling to Europe for work.

❌ Skip the EE Unlimited Rolling SIM if...

You'd rather buy direct from EE to get the network provider's support and sign-up extras, or you need more than 25GB European data roaming.

As it's part of the EE network, make sure you get the service in your area. You can use EE's coverage checker here.

It's also worth pointing out that Scancom is also technically a B2B site, and you'll use the company for support, rather than EE's in-house team.

That doesn't mean you need to be a business to buy and use the SIM, and we've seen reports online that the company won't check for business credentials anyway. But that's its main purpose is for professionals.

If you’re truly serious about coffee in Australia and looking to introduce a coffee maker into your kitchen, then Breville is a brand you’re likely to consider.

It’s easy to see why — not only is Breville a regular feature in my guide to the best coffee machines in Australia, but it also makes reliable, easy-to-master machines that, most importantly, brew a great cuppa.

The Barista Express is one such machine, and while it is a few years old now, it’s still an easy recommendation, especially now that it’s available for AU$595 on Amazon.

The Breville Barista Express has all the necessities of a great coffee machine: an integrated grinder, adjustable settings — grind size, dosage and water volume — and a powerful steam wand for texturising milk, whether it’s dairy or non-dairy. There’s no assisted tamping as you’ll find in the Barista Express Impress, for example, but a manual tamper is provided, along with single-wall and double-wall baskets, along with a razor tool for levelling ground coffee in the portafilter.

However, while Breville might provide all the tools you need for a great coffee, our Breville Barista Express review does admit that it can take a bit of time to find the best settings for the beans you use and for your personal preference. This does mean you’ll need to sacrifice a few espresso shots, but the results are more than worth it.

What’s more, the Barista Express is a relatively compact coffee machine that should cause little issue in even smaller kitchens, and it’s eligible for Breville’s free Barista Gift Pack promotion, which includes a 1kg bag of coffee beans and a Bean Keeper canister to keep them fresher for longer.

The AU$595 price on Amazon only applies to the Charcoal model, while other colours cost at least AU$100 more. Do note that Amazon has a list price of AU$999, which was the case when the machine launched in 2022, but Breville has since revised it to AU$719.

Nintendo just gave us a closer look at the upcoming Switch 2 remake of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time in a special presentation to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the series, and at the same time, confirmed the release date.

The big news for collectors, though, is that the first run of the physical edition will feature special textured foil packaging, so here's where you can secure your sparkly copy with a preorder ahead of release on November 5.

The official store opened up preorders first in all regions, and now several other retailers also have them available. Incredibly, physical copies are starting to sell out in some places, so I'm keeping an eye on other stores now and will add them as soon as I spot any more availability.

And while it's extremely unlikely that it will completely sell out ahead of launch, given that the special cover is limited to this initial print run, it's best to be safe if you want to add a copy to your collection.

In his 4-star review, our expert Mark called the DH4300 Plus "great for homes and small businesses" and said it offered "an elegant design that delivers the basic functionality that most NAS users need at a price they can afford."

The four drive bays give you plenty of flexibility over how much storage you add, while RAID support lets you choose between maximizing capacity or adding redundancy.

Ugreen has done its best to make the software approachable for people buying their first NAS. Its apps support Windows, macOS, Android, iOS and web browsers, with remote access and automatic mobile photo backups.

He summed it up saying: "This NAS is designed to fit a specific niche: single or dual-purpose installations that require power efficiency and easy interfacing with other NAS hardware for backups. And, this NAS is perfectly poised to do those jobs without the need for the more exotic functionality that the DXP series already supports."

Price context & historical value

Amazon has cut the price of the Ugreen NAS DH4300 Plus from $439.99 to $373.98, giving you a saving of $66.01, or 15%. While this is a good reduction, it's not the cheapest the NAS has been. We saw it selling for between $305-$310 a little earlier in the year.

It's also worth noting the current price is for the diskless enclosure, so you'll still need to budget for compatible hard drives or SSDs. The total cost will depend on how much capacity you want.

Should you buy it?

✅ Buy the Ugreen NAS DH4300 Plus if...

You want to move away from recurring cloud-storage subscriptions and keep your photos, videos and documents under your own control. Four drive bays give you plenty of room to expand, and the relatively simple setup and mobile apps make this a more approachable option for NAS newcomers.

❌ Skip the Ugreen NAS DH4300 Plus if...

You need a more advanced NAS for running virtual machines or heavier server workloads. The DH4300 Plus supports Docker, but Ugreen specifically states that it doesn't support virtual machines, so a more powerful NAS will likely be a better fit for advanced users.

The Catch: What to know before you buy

No storage drives are included, despite the advertised maximum capacity, so the listed price is only the starting point. The maximum storage amount is based on compatible drives configured in RAID 0, which prioritizes capacity rather than redundancy.

There's also no Wi-Fi, so you'll need to connect the NAS to your router or network switch using Ethernet. Plex can be run through Docker, but the DH4300 Plus doesn't provide native virtual-machine support.

One of the absolute highlights of this week's Labor Day sales has been the excellent Sony WH-1000XM5 on sale for just $198 (was $399) at Amazon. It's been a while since these wireless headphones have hit this record-low price — and, quite frankly, it's one of the easiest recommendations we've made this week.

They only hit $198 once before, back in late June, so this is a great chance to grab some of the best headphones on the market for cheap.

As an overview, the Sony WH-1000XM5 combines a stylish and comfortable design with some of the best noise cancellation on the market. They're perfect for everyday use, a busy office, or commuting on public transport. They also sound fantastic, with rich and detailed sound for all types of genres.

With today's price on Amazon, you're getting them for a fantastic price, considering these are only one generation away from the latest Sony model. The Sony WH-1000XM6 has superseded the Mark 5, but they're currently sitting at $398 at the retailer, while offering similar performance.

The Sony WH-1000XM5 are a few years old now, but our initial five-star rating from when these headphones were released still stands. At the time, we called them "the best headphones in the world thanks to their class-leading noise-canceling features and well-balanced audio.” There is a newer version now (the Mark 6), but those are significantly more expensive, as I've already stated.

Compared with the sixth-generation model, the fifth-generation model is a little less portable because it lacks folding hinges, but otherwise performance is quite similar. If you're not desperate for the folding mechanism, then it's definitely a good idea to save some cash and go with the Sony WH-1000XM5 over the newer model.

This has to be one of the best laptop deals I've spotted on a 16-inch machine with a high-resolution display and plenty of memory. As part of its back-to-school sale, the Asus Vivobook S 16 is now $1300 (was $1600) at Newegg.

And this one is packed with awesome specs. On top of the 16-inch 2880 x 1800 OLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate, it has an Intel Core Ultra 7 255H processor, 32GB of LPDDR5X memory and a 1TB PCIe 4.0 SSD.

The deal also includes Intel's Gamer Days Bundle 2026 with two upcoming games valued at $119.98, plus an Intel AI Software Bundle worth more than $400.

Why we recommend it

The 3K OLED screen is well suited to creative work, combining a high resolution with 100% DCI-P3 coverage for working with photos, video and other visual content. The 120Hz refresh rate also provides smoother movement and scrolling than a conventional 60Hz laptop display.

There's enough processing power and memory capacity here for demanding productivity and multitasking, and the integrated Intel Arc graphics provide some welcome graphics capability.

Newegg has slashed the price of the Asus Vivobook S 16 from $1,599.99 to $1,299.99, saving you $300, or almost 19%. It has been considerably cheaper in the past, however, dropping as low as $1,100 earlier this year, so this isn't the best price we've seen.

That said, it currently comes with Intel's Gamer Days Bundle 2026, which means you'll get Star Wars: Galactic Racer and Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis games worth a combined $119.98 for free. You also get Intel's AI Software Bundle 2026 which includes more than $400 worth of software.

You want a large-screen laptop for creative work, productivity and heavy multitasking without stepping up to a bulkier workstation. The hardware on offer makes it particularly well equipped for demanding everyday tasks.

❌ Skip the Asus Vivobook S 16 if...

You primarily want a laptop for serious gaming or GPU-intensive 3D work. Intel Arc integrated graphics are considerably more capable than basic integrated graphics, but there's no discrete GPU, so a laptop with dedicated Nvidia or AMD graphics would be a better choice.

The Catch: What to know before you buy

The 16-inch OLED panel has plenty going for it, but it's a glossy non-touch display, which might not be ideal if you tend to work in bright environments. Its 400-nit peak HDR brightness is also relatively modest compared with other premium OLED laptops.

The bundled games aren't available immediately, either. Star Wars: Galactic Racer will be released on October 6, 2026, and Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis is set to arrive on February 12, 2027. You'll need to redeem the Gamer Days offer by October 31, 2026.

You don't need to spend hundreds of dollars on a printer for occasional home or home office use. I've picked out three Amazon inkjet printer deals that bring capable all-in-one models comfortably below $100. All three can print, scan and copy in color, with wireless connectivity for printing from your computer or mobile devices.

My top recommendation here is the Canon Pixma TS6520 is down to $81 (was $141 thanks to the quickest print speeds of the three, and the inclusion of automatic two-sided printing.

A good alternative is the HP Envy 6155 costs $90 (was $160). However, for the cheapest printer, check out the HP DeskJet 2955 at just $60 (was $90), making it the ideal price for back-to-school students and casual home printing.

Why we recommend them

All three cover the essentials for a home office without taking you over $100. The $59.99 HP DeskJet 2955 is the obvious budget choice if your printing requirements are fairly basic.

Spending another $20.49 on the Canon Pixma model gets you considerably faster print speeds, automatic duplex printing and a small OLED display. It's a great middle-ground, with more features and quickest print speeds.

At $89.99, the HP Envy 6155 costs the most of the three, but it adds a larger 100-sheet input tray and 2.4-inch color touchscreen alongside automatic two-sided printing, which is better for a home office setup.

Both HP models also include a three-month trial of Instant Ink.

The largest saving is on the HP Envy 6155, which has fallen from $159.99 to $89.99, knocking $70 off the price. The HP DeskJet 2955 drops from $89.99 to $59.99, saving you $30. Both HP printers are the cheapest we've seen them to date on Amazon.

The Canon Pixma TS6520 has been reduced from $140.99 to $80.48, saving you $60.51. This isn't the cheapest it's ever been as it was priced at $59.25 earlier this year.

Should you buy it?

✅ Buy one of these printers if...

You need an inexpensive all-in-one for relatively light home or home office duties. All three handle printing, scanning and copying without requiring much desk space. Wireless connectivity means you aren't restricted to printing from a computer connected by USB.

❌ Skip one of these printers if...

You regularly print dozens or hundreds of pages at a time. These are home inkjet printers designed for relatively modest workloads, so a faster printer with a larger paper capacity and lower running costs would make more sense for a busy office. I would personally consider buying an ink tank printer instead.

The Catch: What to know before you buy

Ink costs are worth considering before choosing any inexpensive inkjet printer, as the purchase price is only part of the long-term expense. The two HP printers include three months of Instant Ink, but you'll be charged a monthly subscription fee if you continue the service after the trial.

The HP models are also designed to work with cartridges containing original HP chips or circuitry, which limits your options for using cheaper third-party cartridges. If automatic two-sided printing is important, bear in mind that it's offered by the Envy 6155 and Canon Pixma TS6520 but isn't listed among the DeskJet 2955's features.

Large-format 3D printers give you far more freedom over what you can create, and the higher build volume make them ideal for small businesses and online crafting stores. So, this 3D printer deal caught my eye, with the Anycubic Kobra 3 Max V2 Combo now down to $569 (was $899) at Anycubic, saving you a massive $330.

The package combines the large-format Kobra 3 Max V2 3D printer with the ACE 2 Pro, that delivers a huge 420 x 420 x 500mm build volume alongside four-color printing as standard and support for up to eight colors with additional hardware.

It can print at speeds up to 600mm/s, and includes features like automatic bed leveling, filament detection and AI spaghetti detection to make even more ambitious prints easier to manage. In the UK, the early bird price for the Kobra 3 Max V2 Combo is now £519 (was £849).

Why we recommend it

At 420 x 420 x 500mm, the Kobra 3 Max V2 Combo offers enough room for large models that would typically need to be divided into multiple sections on a smaller printer. You also have the option of filling the bed with a number of smaller objects.

The included ACE 2 Pro adds multicolor printing and can actively dry filament at temperatures up to 65°C. Four-color printing is supported out of the box, with the system expandable to eight colors if you buy the necessary additional hardware.

LeviQ 3.0 handles automatic leveling and Z-offset adjustment, while filament detection, automatic resume, entanglement detection and AI spaghetti detection can stop failed prints from wasting large amounts of filament.

You want to create large models or multicolor prints that would be awkward on a conventional 3D printer. Its 420 x 420 x 500mm build volume gives you considerably more room to work with, while the included ACE 2 Pro provides four-color printing.

❌ Skip the Anycubic Kobra 3 Max V2 Combo if...

You mostly print relatively small, single-color objects. The huge build area and ACE 2 Pro are key parts of the appeal here, so buying such a large machine makes little sense if you aren't going to take advantage of either.

The Catch: What to know before you buy

You'll need plenty of physical space as the Kobra 3 Max V2 itself measures 706 x 640 x 753mm (27.8 x 25.2 x 29.6 inches) and weighs around 18kg (39.7 pounds), while the separate ACE 2 Pro measures 368 x 291.5 x 236.5mm (14.5 x 11.5 x 9.3 inches) and weighs another 3.7kg (8.2 pounds).

Eight-color printing also isn't available from the standard Combo alone. It supports four colors out of the box, but expanding to eight requires additional hardware. The 3D printer that can handle that would usually set you back $1,228, but it's currently priced at $788.

Buying a gaming laptop in 2026 can be a bit of a nightmare, thanks to the global memory shortage that has sent prices sky-high. Gaming laptops have been hit particularly hard, and that's made trying to find one for a sensible price that still offers enough power to play modern games increasingly difficult... but not impossible.

While super-high-end gaming laptops featuring flagship GPUs like the Nvidia RTX 5090 have become extremely expensive, and therefore out of reach for most people, gaming laptops with Nvidia's budget RTX 5050 GPU have remained far more affordable, especially around events like Labor Day, which can bring some decent price cuts.

In fact, if you're looking for a gaming laptop for under $1,000, it'll very likely come with an RTX 5050. However, before you buy, there are some important considerations you need to be aware of.

The pros and cons of buying an RTX 5050 gaming laptop

The most important thing to do when buying a gaming laptop with a GPU like the RTX 5050 is to keep your expectations in check.

The Nvidia RTX 5050 laptop GPU comes with 8GB of GDDR7 memory and a 128-bit memory bus. This is the absolute minimum I'd recommend in 2026, and it does mean you'll need to make some compromises when gaming.

Because of the limited amount of memory, ultra-high definition resolutions of 4K (3840 x 2160) and even 1440p (2560 x 1440) will be too taxing, but Full HD/1080p (1920 x 1080) will be the sweet spot. So, there's little point in getting an RTX 5050-equipped gaming laptop with a screen with a higher resolution than 1080p, as more often than not, you'd be paying extra for a resolution you can't take advantage of when gaming (non-gaming tasks, such as browsing the web and creating documents will benefit from the higher resolution, of course).

The good news is that this shouldn't be much of an issue, as it'll be rare to find an RTX 5050 gaming laptop with a screen that's higher resolution than 1080p, as it's a good way for laptop makers to keep costs down.

Still, even at 1080p, you're likely going to need to lower certain graphical settings, and stuff like ray tracing will be completely out of the question, due to how intensive the realistic lighting tech is.

This might sound all very negative, and if you're looking for a laptop to play graphically-demanding games at 4K at 60fps frame rates or higher, an RTX 5050 laptop is not going to be right for you.

However, one of the best things about PC gaming is its scalability, and if you don't mind tweaking certain settings, you'll be able to eke out some decent performance from the laptop. That might be as simple as setting all graphics settings to 'medium', lowering the resolution or capping framerates at 30fps. With a bit of patience, you should find a good balance where the game runs well, and doesn't look bad either.

For games that aren't graphically intensive, such as indie games, retro titles or esports games, this is less of an issue, and most people should be pretty happy with an RTX 5050.

In benchmark and real-world tests, the RTX 5050 offers a similar level of performance as the older RTX 4060 GPU. This is noteworthy, as for a long time the RTX 4060 was one of, if not the, most popular GPUs on the Steam Hardware survey, and for good reason: it allowed gamers who couldn't afford high-end hardware to be still able to play modern games, and the RTX 5050 continues that.

As the RTX 5050 is part of Nvidia's current 'Blackwell' series of GPUs, it also means that, despite its budget origins, it can make use of Nvidia's latest tech, such as DLSS 4, which uses AI to upscale games, which can bring big performance benefits, especially for entry-level GPUs like the RTX 5050.

On paper, it should also be able to support Multi Frame Generation (MFG), which uses AI generate and insert frames inbetween frames rendered by the GPU, potentially increasing frame rates and making games feel smoother and more responsive to play. However, the 8GB memory limit of the RTX 5050 means MFG (which is memory-intensive) can struggle.

Still, you have plenty of tools to make any RTX 5050 gaming laptop punch above its weight, and as long as you keep your expectations in check and don't mind a bit of playing around with graphical settings, you should be pretty happy with your purchase.

That's especially true this Labor Day, as I've found several RTX 5050 gaming laptop deals that offer excellent value for money for any PC gamer who can't, or won't, pay the hugely inflated prices that have plagued 2026 so far. I've highlighted the best ones below.

As TechRadar's homes editor, I test a lot of coffee makers — over a dozen each year — and I'm always surprised by how many automatic espresso machines struggle with the essential task of foaming milk. Your milk will be foamed to perfection and poured directly into your cup, then when you've finished making your drink, the carafe detaches and disassembles into just three pieces of hard plastic. All of these are safe to wash in the top rack of your dishwasher.

Naturally, all coffee makers in the Philips LatteGo series make excellent espresso as well, handling all the complex parts of brewing for you, so you can just add beans and water, pick a drink, and start enjoying it within a couple of minutes.

This particular model has a relatively small menu of four different drinks, but in my opinion that's no bad thing — some other coffee makers can overwhelm you with choices, whereas the 2300 Series focuses on doing the essentials well. You can still customize your drinks, choosing the volume and strength, but you won't need to spend ages scrolling through endless options.

If you've been thinking about picking up one of Samsung's recent TVs, then you could be in serious luck this week thanks to the official Samsung Store's Labor Day sale. The retailer is currently hosting a number of record-low prices on Samsung's latest 2026 lineup.

As with most brands, Samsung releases its annual crop of TVs earlier in the year, and you usually have to wait a while for serious price cuts to appear. We've had minor discounts up until now, but these are arguably the first real deals on these premium displays. You can currently get up to $1,100 off premium models like the S90H, S95H, and R85H — some of the best TVs you can buy right now.

One example is this deal on the stunning 75-inch R85H for $1,999 (was $2,799) at Samsung today. Dell is running a surprisingly small Labor Day sale this year with hardly any laptop deals in it. However, there is one offer that rises above the rest and is really the only one that matters if you're shopping for a new device in today's sales: it's this Dell XPS 13 for $699.99 (was $999).

If you're looking for the ultimate upgrade to your TV's sound, then the Samsung HW-Q990F is one of my top picks, and it's available for a near record-low price of $999 at Best Buy right now.

The Q990F has 11.1.4 channels and packs 23 speakers across the four units, consisting of a front soundbar, two rear speakers, and a subwoofer. It supports both Dolby Atmos and DTS:X formats, so you're well covered.

It's one of the best soundbars that I've tested in the last few years, and even though it's from last year, it's rare to see its price drop below $1,000.

Phenomenal Dolby Atmos performance

Samsung's flagship soundbar systems have solidified their place at the top of the market over the last few years, balancing performance and features with bang-for-your-buck value. The Q990F continued that trend when it was released last year.

The biggest change between the Q990F and its predecessor wasn't its sound, but rather a redesigned compact subwoofer. While I worried that this would affect the Q990F's bass performance, I was happily proven wrong.

The Q990F's smaller subwoofer still delivers plenty of punch that, when cranked up, can shake a room. But it still manages to offer precise bass that can pick out individual details, as I found when the Batmobile's crunchy gear changes happened in The Batman.

Elsewhere, the Q990F still offers superb, accurate detail, as I found when watching Star Wars: A New Hope. As TIE Fighter laser bolts flew past, the sound trajectory was mapped to the soundbar with real precision. Even the score and the X-Wing's engines were well mapped to the rear channels. Overhead flight was a perfect demonstration of the Q990F's Atmos abilities too.

The Q990F also offers plenty of useful features, particularly for gaming. Its built-in HDMI 2.1 ports, which support 4K 120Hz, can be helpful to those with multiple consoles. And having tried the ports out, they produce top-notch gaming performance too.

Having reviewed multiple iterations, the Geekom A5 has remained one of our favorite mini PCs for work and study for a long time now. If you're looking for a well-built compact desktop, there's a lot we like about this little machine.

And right now, the Geekom A5 is down to $419 (was $719) at Best Buy. That's cheaper than it is at Amazon, where it's priced at $479. But you'll need to act fast, because the clock is ticking on this deal, which ends in a few hours.

The mini PC is powered by the AMD Ryzen 5 7430U, with 16GB upgradeable RAM and 1TB SSD. In our own tests, we found it has enough performance for everyday office work and multitasking, and remains impressively quiet even under sustained use.

Why we recommend it

The Ryzen 5 7430U has six cores and 12 threads, with boost speeds up to 4.3GHz. Combined with 16GB of RAM and a 1TB SSD, that's a solid specification for office work, browsing and everyday multitasking.

In our four-star review, Windows 11 ran smoothly and the A5 performed better than mini PCs based on lower-end Intel N100, N150 and N300 processors.

There's an impressive selection of connections for such a small PC, too. You get two HDMI 2.0 ports, two USB-C 3.2 ports, four USB-A connections and 2.5GbE Ethernet, alongside Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.2.

It's also easy to get inside the A5 if you want to upgrade it at a later date. The two DDR4 SODIMM slots support up to 64GB of RAM, giving you plenty of scope to add more memory if your needs grow.

Price context & historical value

Best Buy has reduced the Geekom A5 from $719 to $419, saving you a substantial $300. That's almost 42% off the regular price and means you can pick up a 16GB/1TB Windows 11 Pro mini PC for comfortably below the $500 mark.

You'll need to move quickly if you want it at this price, however, as the offer will end very soon.

Should you buy it?

✅ Buy the Geekom A5 if...

You want a small Windows PC for working from home, studying or general everyday computing without having to cope with entry-level processor. We found the Ryzen 5 7430U to be more than capable of handling most everyday tasks, and the 16GB of RAM and 1TB SSD provide plenty of headroom.

❌ Skip the Geekom A5 if...

You need a mini PC for demanding creative applications or serious gaming. Performance is comfortably above many entry-level mini PCs, but the older Ryzen 5 7430U and integrated Radeon Vega graphics are well behind newer AMD platforms with DDR5 memory and more powerful integrated GPUs.

The Catch: What to know before you buy

Despite its Ryzen 7000-series name, the Ryzen 5 7430U is based on AMD's older Zen 3 architecture and uses Radeon Vega graphics rather than the newer integrated GPUs found in some other Ryzen mini PCs.

It has enough performance for everyday office work and multitasking though, while remaining impressively quiet even under sustained use.

Most desktop chargers are purely functional, but the robot-shaped Ugreen Uno manages to make something as mundane as powering your devices surprisingly fun.

Right now, the Ugreen Uno 100W GaN fast-charging block is now $60 (was $80) at Amazon. It's one of our favorite quirky gadgets for the office, scoring the full 5 stars in our review.

The Uno has a small TFT display that shows different facial expressions depending on its charging status, and its removable magnetic feet complete the little desktop robot design. In the UK, Ugreen's 100W charging block is now £40 (was £56) at Amazon.

Why we recommend it

In his rave five-star review of the Uno, our expert Harry said: "With an impressive power output, quad-port design and quirky robot form, the UGreen Uno Charger 100W establishes itself as one of the best wall chargers on the market. It’s modestly priced against competitors, delivers super-fast charging and displays entertaining emojis, making it the ideal charging companion."

The Uno is a desk accessory that can add some personality to a home office without loosing practicality. Its display cycles through expressions including smiling, blushing and even an eating animation while charging, with a suitably cool expression appearing when charging completes.

More importantly, there's a capable 100W GaN charger inside that lets you power four devices simultaneously, The top two USB-C ports can each deliver up to 100W when used individually, making it suitable for more demanding devices such as laptops.

The port placement on top also makes sense when it's sitting on a desk, while its compact 2.05 x 1.93 x 3.23-inch dimensions are impressive considering the number of ports and power available.

Price context & historical value

Amazon has reduced the price of Ugreen's Uno 100W charger from $79.99 to $59.99, knocking $20 off the usual price. You're inevitably paying something for the unusual design, but you're getting four charging ports and enough output to handle many USB-C laptops.

This isn't the cheapest I've seen it though. It was on sale for $45 towards the end of last year. Even so, I think this is still a great deal and one I'd recommend snapping up.

Should you buy it?

✅ Buy the Ugreen Uno 100W charger if...

You want to replace several chargers with one device that also adds some personality to your home office. With three USB-C ports, USB-A and up to 100W of power, it can handle your laptop, phone, tablet and headphones simultaneously while taking up little desk space.

❌ Skip the Ugreen Uno 100W charger if...

You only need a charger for your phone or another low-powered device. The Uno is overkill for that job, and you can find considerably cheaper single-port chargers if you don't need its 100W output, four ports or quirky display.

The Catch: What to know before you buy

The 100W figure is the maximum available output rather than 100W from every port simultaneously. Power is shared when you're charging multiple devices, although the top two USB-C ports can each provide up to 100W when used individually.

It doesn't come with any charging cables, either, so you'll need to provide those yourself. The display also isn't particularly bright, which can make its expressions harder to see from some angles.

On the lookout for your next gaming laptop? Today is a good time to consider picking one up, as most big specialist retailers are currently hosting Labor Day sales with decent price cuts. Price cuts that help offset the spiralling costs of components and PCs, at least.

I've been looking through various retailers like Amazon, Best Buy, Walmart, Dell, and a few others to try and find the best deals. While the annual Labor Day sales are usually associated with grills or appliances, I've actually found some great discounts that can save you some serious cash today. Check out my full list just below.

Highlights include these Gigabyte A16 laptops for $1,159 (was $1,299) and $1,518 (was $1,849) at Best Buy and Walmart, respectively. Both of these are very, very strong contenders right now if you're looking for outright value, as you get 32GB of RAM right out of the box alongside one of the latest RTX 5000 series graphics cards.

Another great, albeit high-end option, is this Acer Predator Helios Neo 16S for $1,899 (was $2,199) at Best Buy. It's pricey, but you get 32GB of RAM, a high-end RTX 5070 Ti graphics card, and a 240Hz OLED display, which really justifies the hefty price tag. If you want a no-compromise machine for playing all the latest titles smoothly, then this is a great option.

This week's best Labor Day gaming laptop deals

When I receive an Earfun product to check out, I can usually count on it being way better quality than its price would suggest. And with the brand's gadgets seeing some solid discounts in the Labor Day deals, you can get an opportunity to enjoy them too.

In particular two of the brand's devices, both of which I've reviewed, have seen some discounts that you can't miss. And they're both pairs I'd consider buying if I were looking for something in the sales.

If you want a pair of over-ear headphones, then the Earfun Wave Pro is calling out for you. It's now available from Amazon for $59.99, down from $79.99, and we gave these cans an almost-perfect 4.5/5 review back when they launched in 2024. A new model called the Wave Pro X just launched, but they're pricier, so these older headphones are still easy to recommend.

People who'd rather use in-ear earbuds should look to the Earfun Air Pro 4, as you can get the white model for $68.37 at Amazon, which is 24% off from their $89.99 asking price. These earbuds were feature-packed (perhaps too much, as I said in my review), but they're great value for money. The newer Air Pro 4 Plus are better, but they haven't seen a discount, so I'd be happy settling for the non-Plus models.

DDR5 might be the obvious choice for a new PC, but DDR4 remains a great, affordable upgrade. And I've found a fantastic deal on the 32GB Kingston Fury Beast DDR4-3200 kit for $280 (was $350) at Newegg.

You get two 16GB DDR4-3200 modules with CL16 latency, 16-20-20 timings, Intel XMP 2.0 support and low-profile heat spreaders. That's absolutely on the money for most everyday workloads, and even gaming on the huge number of systems that still support DDR4 memory.

Why we recommend it

32GB provides plenty of memory for everyday tasks, and the two 16GB modules let you take advantage of a motherboard's dual-channel memory configuration.

DDR4-3200 with CL16 timings also offers a good combination of speed and latency for compatible DDR4 systems. Intel XMP 2.0 support makes it easy to apply the advertised 3200MT/s profile on a supported motherboard rather than manually configuring the timings.

The modules run at 1.35V and include aluminum heat spreaders. The understated black design should fit easily into builds where you don't want or need RGB lighting.

Price context & historical value

Newegg has already slashed the price of the Kingston Fury Beast kit from $349.99 to $249.99, saving you $100, but applying code LDSF224 reduces the price by another $70 to $179.99.

That means you're paying $170 less than the usual $349.99, which is nearly half price, and a great deal at a time when memory prices are typically sky high.

Should you buy it?

✅ Buy the 32GB Kingston Fury Beast DDR4-3200 kit if...

Your desktop uses DDR4 and you're currently struggling with 8GB or 16GB of memory. Moving to 32GB gives you considerably more headroom for running demanding applications without replacing the rest of your system.

❌ Skip the 32GB Kingston Fury Beast DDR4-3200 kit if...

You're building a completely new PC around a modern platform that supports DDR5. DDR4 and DDR5 aren't interchangeable, so buying this kit will restrict your motherboard and processor choices rather than providing an upgrade path for the future.

The Catch: What to know before you buy

You'll need to enter the coupon code at checkout to get the RAM for just $179.99. You should also check your motherboard's memory specifications and compatibility. The kit supports Intel XMP 2.0 and is listed for AMD and Intel systems, but achieving its top DDR4-3200 speed depends on the capabilities and configuration of your system.

6K monitors give creative professionals an enormous amount of detail and working space, but they've traditionally been prohibitively expensive. I've found the LG UltraFine Evo 32U990A-S for $1,099 at Amazon.

That's not just its lowest ever price - it's the cheapest 6K monitor I've ever seen. For your money, you get a 32-inch Nano IPS Black display with a 6144 x 3456 resolution, DisplayHDR 600, Thunderbolt 5, 96W power delivery and extensive Mac and Windows connectivity.

It's aimed squarely at creative professionals, with the resolution, color accuracy and connectivity needed for photo editing, video production, design and other demanding visual work.

Why we recommend it

The 6K resolution packs more than 21 million pixels into the 32-inch panel and delivers a 224 PPI density. It offers up to 99.5% Adobe RGB and 98% DCI-P3 coverage, real 10-bit color and a 2000:1 contrast ratio. That combination is ideal for photography, video editing, color grading, design and other work where image accuracy matters.

In his review, our expert Jeremy said: "Thanks to its native 6K resolution, the LG UltraFine Evo 32U990A cranks out an astonishingly sharp image. It has great connectivity, too, including Thunderbolt 5."

He went on to explain: "If you think more pixels makes for a better PC monitor, you're going to love the new LG UltraFine Evo 32U990A. This 6K monster of a monitor has over 21 million of them. For context, a 4K display has just eight million. It's a massive step up."

Price context & historical value

6K tends to sit at the top end of the professional monitor market, but at $1,099, the LG UltraFine Evo 32U990A-S is at the lowest price I've seen. It's also the cheapest 6K monitor I've found to date.

That said, you can buy excellent 4K monitors, including OLED models with better contrast and responsiveness, for similar or less money, so the value here really depends on how much you'll benefit from the additional resolution.

Should you buy it?

✅ Buy the LG UltraFine Evo 32U990A if...

You work with high-resolution photos, 6K video, detailed graphics or other visual content and can make practical use of the monitor's enormous resolution. Its combination of 224 PPI, wide color coverage and Thunderbolt 5 makes good sense as the centerpiece of a high-end creative workstation.

❌ Skip the LG UltraFine Evo 32U990A if...

You'd rather have the superior contrast, black levels and responsiveness of an OLED display. Our reviewer found the LG's IPS Black panel looked somewhat washed out alongside modern OLED monitors, while its 60Hz refresh rate and 5ms response time are relatively slow for such a top-end display.

The Catch: What to know before you buy

The 6K resolution is exceptional, but the rest of the display technology isn't quite as impressive. DisplayHDR 600 relies on edge-lit backlighting rather than full-array local dimming, and our reviewer found its HDR performance and black levels couldn't compete with OLED.

There are some physical compromises as well. The mix of plastic and metal doesn't have the premium build quality you might expect at this level, while the large external power brick makes for a less tidy setup. The matte anti-glare coating can also introduce a slight visible sparkle.

The Labor Day sales can sometimes feel like an awkward time to buy a phone. Not only are the sales traditionally more associated with grills and appliances, but Apple also usually debuts its next generation of devices in early to mid-September. Surprisingly, however, several retailers have some of the best deals I've seen in recent months today.

For example, if you've been thinking about picking up one of the new Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 devices, then you can currently get an impressive upfront discount of up to $300 at the official Samsung Store on these excellent foldable devices. That's actually $100 better than the initial deal offered when these devices were available for preorder a few months ago.

Another really fantastic discount is on the new Google Pixel 11 series. Right now, you can get $450 off across the range when you pick up a device with a new plan at Mint Mobile. Unlike similar discounts at major carriers, you don't need to trade in to be eligible for this discount. You also get a full year of unlimited data for just $180 (half the usual price).

The best Labor Day phone deals today

My TechRadar colleagues and I have said multiple times that good sound quality doesn’t always have to cost the earth. As my guide to the best wireless earbuds in Australia proves, there is excellent value to be found up and down the budget spectrum, and you can get a great audio experience for little outlay.
