Olympus 75mm lens

Of course it's difficult to fully evaluate a lens with only a brief shooting time available.

However, initial impressions of the lens are very promising, and we can see this one being very appealing to Micro Four Thirds photographers looking to get serious about their portrait work.

It's well-constructed, and offers a 150mm focal length, which means you don't need to get too close to your subject.

Images are rendered well, with the wide aperture providing creative effects as well as capabilities for lower light shooting.

An expensive proposition at around £800 (£1300), it's hardly likely to be a mass seller, but it's fantastic to see professional level lenses of this quality becoming available for cameras which aren't DSLRs.

What is a hands on review?

Hands on reviews' are a journalist's first impressions of a piece of kit based on spending some time with it. It may be just a few moments, or a few hours. The important thing is we have been able to play with it ourselves and can give you some sense of what it's like to use, even if it's only an embryonic view.
