Watch the Cheltenham Festival 2026 as the biggest multi-day meeting in the National Hunt racing calendar again descends on the heart of the Cotswolds. Running from Tuesday, March 10-13, it's full of Grade 1 races over the jumps of Prestbury Park, with the Champion Hurdle and Gold Cup among the highest profile races of any horse racing season.

The biggest story of the festival is who isn't going to be there. Constitution Hill will only compete in the flat this season, meaning Tuesday's Champion Hurdle could be anyone's. As it turned out, favorite Lossiemouth dominated the race and won at Cheltenham for the fourth time, albeit in the biggest race. Some 57,242 came through the gate, meaning the best day in year's for the festival, too.

On Day 2, Il Etait Temps won the Queen Mother Champion Chase on Wednesday as heavy favorite Majborough failed to get into the race. On Day 3, Thursday, the action moved to the New Course at Cheltenham, with the Stayers' Hurdle. It was a good day for the bookies, too, as 33-1 shot Home by the Lee held off Kabral Du Mathan, and Ballyburn to take the day's big race.

Today, Friday March 13, is Gold Cup day, the biggest race of the meeting and arguably the racing calendar. Former football manager Harry Redknapp has The Jukebox Man, who won the King George at Kempton Park on Boxing Day, in the race that includes reigning champion Inothewayurthinkin, owned by JP McManus. Gaelic Warrior and Jango Baie came in third and fourth at Kempton and will go well.

Mostly, though, the Cheltenham Festival is all about the stunning scenery at the bottom of Cleeve Hill, the atmosphere and the thousands of racing fans from Ireland that will descend on the Cotswolds for four days' elite racing.

One of the biggest events of the National Hunt season is here, as Boxing Day horse racing takes place all over the country.

The big race of the day is the King George VI Chase (2:30pm GMT) at Kempton Park. Gaelic Warrior and Fact To File headline the main event as they rematch following the former’s narrow win at Punchestown in November. Don’t discount Nicky Henderson’s Jango Baie either, who is expected to be strong in the market.

Elsewhere, one of the major talking points comes in the Christmas Hurdle (1:55pm GMT), as Sir Gino makes his eagerly anticipated return. The five-year-old hasn’t featured since defeating Ballyburn at Kempton last Christmas and will be aiming to overcome a relatively weak field this Friday.

The Kauto Star Novices’ Chase (1:20pm GMT), headed by Coral Cup winner Jimmy Du Seuil, and the Formby Novices’ Hurdle (1:05pm GMT) are two other big races to keep an eye on.

The first major fixture of the jump campaign begins this weekend with the Cheltenham November meeting, running from Friday 14th to Sunday 16th November.

Friday's countryside day was full of excitement, with the going was deteriorating throughout the day with the ground going from good to soft to soft in places. The highlight of the day was undoubtedly the Grade 2 Shloer Chase which saw L'Eau Du Sud produce a dominant display, drawing clear of the returning Jonbon.

Jonbon was the favorite for the race, seeking his third straight win in this race but was let down with his jumping in the later hurdles. Trainer, Nicky Henderson, was optimistic however, claiming that it was a useful appearance for Jonbon and will help with his targets later in the season.

The rain continued through to Saturday, with the ground going heavy, soft in places and due to waterlog, the second-last fence of the chase course was omitted and the bend into the home straight was re-configured for safety. The highlight of the day was the Paddy Power Gold Cup, which saw Dan Skelton's Panic Attack the victory after 280 days out of action.

On Sunday, expect even more high-quality racing with the Greatwood Hurdle taking place where fans can look forward to seeing one of the tastiest two-mile handicaps on the calendar.

Now in its 103rd year, the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe is a horse race like no other. The blue riband event in the flat season, this is where the world's finest middle-distance horses come to become immortal, and scoop over half a sizeable €5million prize pot. 

Ace Impact, last year's winner, has been retired to stud, so there will be a new victor in 2024. Look De Vega and Sosie started as favorites over the 12-furlong course, the latter winning the Prix Niel last month, finishing ahead of the former in a career-first defeat. Look De Vega has gone way out in the late betting, though, after an unimpressive morning trot.

One further horse in the running could be Shin Emperor, who returns to the country of his birth following a sale to Japan. The colt is a brother to 2020 Arc winner Sottsass and could go well at the longer distance after finishing strongly at the recent Irish Champion Stakes.

It's a damp and chilly day in Paris today, with the possibility of rain for the big race itself. That means the going is likely to be fairly soft, after a relatively wet week in the French capital, and could result in an open race with an unexpected winner.

Japanese stalker Ushba Tesoro, who won the prestigious 1.25-mile Dubai World Cup in March, will start the Classic from No.8, while White Abarrio, fresh from his breakthrough at the Whitney Stakes in August and carrying Eclipse Award winner Irad Ortiz Jr. on his back, has been drawn into stall No.3.

One of the highlights of the British sporting summer calendar is underway, as the world's best flat race horses descend on Berkshire this week for Royal Ascot. 

It's day five, and the final races, with Highfield Princess (14-2) tipped to win the Platinum Jubilee Stakes at 3.40pm BST today.

The historic two-and-a-half mile endurance test coincides with Ladies Day, the meeting's traditional display of high fashion and millinery masterpieces from racegoers. 

This year's Gold Cup favourite is six-year-old Coltrane, with the Andrew Balding trained winner of last year's Ascot Stakes leading the betting ahead of last year’s St Leger winner Eldar Eldarov.

There'll be plenty of eyes on Arrest too, which starts from stall No.13 and will be ridden by two-time Derby winner Frankie Dettori, on what's set to be his final outing here, 31 years after his first. The Frankie farewell tour has some way to go yet, but nothing's going to top a flying dismount at Epsom Downs.

It's been an uncommonly glorious week in the UK, weather-wise, so the official going is good, good to firm (in places). Just bear in mind that because of the FA Cup final, the race starts much earlier than usual.

It's race day in Indianapolis and the experts are picking between Pato O'Ward, Alex Palou and Scott Dixo for the win but there are plenty of other name's in the ring including last year's winner who'll be looking to become only the sixth ever driver to get back-to-back wins at the Indy 500.

The Greatest Spectacle in Racing is one heck of a slogan to live up to, but the 2023 Indy 500 has been given a worthy buildup, with Alex Palou, Rinus VeeKay and Felix Rosenqvist forming the fastest front row in the history of this 112-year-old event.

Just 0.006mph separated Chip Ganassi Racing's Palou from Ed Carpenter Racing's VeeKay, while all three drivers on the front row beat the previous pole speed record – set by Scott Dixon a year ago.

The reigning champion, Marcus Ericsson, was only quick enough for the 10th slot on the grid, back in the fourth row. It's certainly not an ideal starting position, though he took victory from eighth a year ago, and has at least got the inside line this time around. 

The drivers occupying the four places immediately in front of him are also fellow former Indy 500 winners, with Dixon in ninth, followed by Alexander Rossi, Takuma Sato and Tony Kanaan. In the 11th slot is 24-year-old Dane Benjamin Pedersen, the highest-placed rookie, while Katherine Legge, the only woman to qualify, starts in 30th.
