Prime Video and Jeremy Clarkson have released a social media video confirming that Clarkson's Farm season 6 is currently in production (which you can watch in full below).

The news comes after the show's bombshell season 5 finale, which revealed Clarkson had been diagnosed with prostate cancer. "If all goes well, I'll see you for season 6. If not, I won't," the star had signed off on at the end of last season.

"So... bit of a year," Jeremy said via the aforementioned TikTok. "But, I'm delighted to tell you that season 6 of Clarkson's Farm is currently in production. And, that's particularly good news for me because... well, if you know, you know."

Not only is this good news for fans — despite the show's Facebook page confirming production earlier in the year — but Jeremy has also given a positive update on his health in a separate Instagram reel.

'The doctors caught the prostate cancer early'

"The observant among you will have noticed that... well, I'm not dead," Jeremy said on his Instagram page. "And, I'm not just not dead, I'm perfectly fine... and the reason why I'm fine is because the doctors caught the prostate cancer early."

The Amazon star goes onto share the importance of getting tested, going on to tell The Times in an interview that he feels like "the world's luckiest man."

Speaking about being admitted to hospital in the season 5 finale, he added, "That was horrific and it was all my own fault. I’d been on drugs for heart issues and I had to come off them during the cancer treatment.

“Big mistake, huge. It [resulted in] a very big emergency in the middle of the night. I’m not even going to go into the treatment that was required as a result of that, because it was horrible. I didn’t ask a doctor, I just thought, ‘I’m sure it will be all right to go back on blood thinners’.”

Jeremy also confirmed that a Prostate-Specific Antigen (PSA) test in April 2026 showed no evidence of cancer.

In the same month, the Clarkson's Farm official Facebook page posted: "It’s now official — Clarkson’s Farm WILL RETURN for a sixth season, arriving a little later than usual in summer 2027.

"Filming has already faced a few hurdles along the way, including a break from production, positive TB [tuberculosis] testing, and relentless rain earlier this year."

If you watched the season finale of Clarkson's Farm season 5 and have been left wondering whether season 6 will actually happen, I'm not surprised.

This is all because of the shock reveal in episodes 7 and 8 that Jeremy has cancer. He took time away from the 2025 harvest to have surgery, which suddenly ended with worrying complications in the final scene of episode 8.

"If all goes well, I'll see you for season 6," he signs off with. "If not, I won't. Take care, everyone."

With this logic alone, we can guess that Clarkson's Farm season 6 actually happening is as much good news as we could ask for.

But what else do we know about the upcoming Prime Video series?

Thanks to the Clarkson's Farm Facebook page, we know that season 6 episodes will be hitting our screens in Summer 2027.

However, this doesn't necessarily mean that we'll pick Diddly Squat back up again this time next year. A summer release window could be as late as August, but we should know more closer to the time.

As you might expect, the immediate detail for Clarkson's Farm season 6 to address is Jeremy's health status. As of writing, Jeremy hasn't issued a public update as to where he is with his treatment, with season 5 scenes having been filmed from May to June 2025.

It's likely that we'll find out further plot details closer to release, but chaos is basically a given.

Will there be more seasons of Clarkson's Farm?

In short, we don't know. There are currently two conflicting rumors flying around social media: that season 6 will be the show's final-ever season, and that season 7 is already being teed up.

At this stage, neither of these rumors has any truth to it. The renewal of season 6 is as far as we've got, with any subsequent updates likely to be made public much closer to release.

Even though Clarkson's Farm season 5 episodes 7 and 8 dropped on Prime Video yesterday (June 17), I still can't get my head around what happened.

In true Jezza style, one thing after another went wrong, from struggling with the harvest to a TB (tuberculosis) outbreak among the cattle.

However, none of this trumped the shock announcement that Jeremy has been diagnosed with cancer, which he revealed to farm staff Kaleb and Charlie in the middle of episode 7.

Revealing that he will be away for a significant portion of the year's harvest, Jeremy describes the cancer as "aggressive" but "very early stages." He hopes to be "in and out" for an operation in July 2025, but has known about his health status since that May.

We know that season 6 has been in the process of filming throughout 2026, which I'd like to think means good news for Jeremy's health.

Even so, fans think they've spotted signs that this might not be the case, revealing they "sobbed multiple times" thanks to so many bad things happening at once.

'Absolutely brutal... gut punch after gut punch'

"That was a rough last two episodes," one fan posted on Reddit. "Goodness me, it was just bad news after bad news. Then to end off the episode with Jeremy back in the hospital right after he goes, 'well at least it can’t get any worse.' This was quite the season."

"I sobbed multiple times," another fan weighed in, with a third adding, "Absolutely brutal. Gut punch after gut punch."

It wasn't just the cancer diagnosis that got this reaction from fans, either. As one explained, "Really just a throat punch when they revealed that the pregnant cow they had to kill didn’t even have TB.

"That’s just really terrible, and I genuinely feel awful not just for Jeremy, but all other farmers who have to experience this. I’ve seriously never seen Jeremy so rightly p**sed off and confused."

Another said, "I think this season has been the most depressing and upsetting season, saying goodbye to the pigs, the s**t harvest, cancer, TB and the cows. What a horrible year it was for them all."

When Clarkson's Farm was first commissioned, Jeremy promised to show "warts and all" farming — and season 5 has easily gone above and beyond that. But all things considered, the show's staple sense of humor hasn't completely faded.

As one fan summed up, "I went from crying over both cows to dying laughing about Gerald's phone ringing in the middle of it all. The joy of watching Clarkson's Farm!"

Clarkson's Farm season 6 has been widely reported to be in production during the first half of 2026 — so if we combine this with Jeremy's season 5 sign-off above, we can assume that all is well (enough) when it comes to his health.

However, that doesn't mean that the new series has been without its troubles. In a post on the show's official Facebook page, its social team said: "Filming has already faced a few hurdles along the way, including a break from production, positive TB [tuberculosis] testing, and relentless rain earlier this year."

While we can assume that the production break was related to Jeremy's treatment, this hasn't been confirmed.

In May 2025, which would have been around the same time Jeremy found out about his diagnosis, he told The Times: “I’d do a sixth if there was a reason for doing it, like a bloody good story… Whatever happens we’ll definitely take a short break as the crews are all worn out.

"We’ve been filming here two or three days a week, every week, for five years. Everybody could do with a rest.”

Clarkson's Farm season 5 episodes 7 and 8 are set to drop on Prime Video this week, marking the end of the latest installment of Jeremy Clarkson's hit reality TV series.

In April, The Independent suggested that Clarkson's Farm season 6 was on the way, despite an official statement never coming from Amazon directly.

On the surface, this seems like a no-brainer. This season's four-episode premiere was estimated to have drawn in between 4 million and 4.5 million viewers, while season 4 was also reportedly the second most-watched TV series in the UK across streaming and linear channels in 2025.

However, in all of the excitement, we might have forgotten something important — and it might mean season 6's release window of summer 2027 is woolly, to say the least.

'The crew are all worn out'

Last May amid season 5's production, Clarkson confirmed that a filming break was scheduled to take place prior to any season 6 announcement.

Speaking to The Times, he said: “I’d do a sixth if there was a reason for doing it, like a bloody good story… Whatever happens we’ll definitely take a short break as the crews are all worn out. We’ve been filming here two or three days a week, every week, for five years. Everybody could do with a rest.”

This was made worse by the fact that Jeremy later confirmed in his Sunday Times column that filming for season 6 had been suspended due to various issues. In a post on the show's official Facebook page, its social team said: "Filming has already faced a few hurdles along the way, including a break from production, positive TB [tuberculosis] testing, and relentless rain earlier this year."

Clearly, a "bloody good story" has been found, which is fantastic news for fans. However, given the aforementioned delays, season 6's summer 2027 release window is likely to be months later than previous expected.

I'd put money on season 6 coming out next August, but the issues don't stop there. Season 6 could also be the final installment of the show, though season 7 rumors are already across social media.

"I think it’s coming to the end of its natural shelf life," one fan posted on Reddit, with a second weighing in to say: "Didn't they just file for their parking extension to be extended through 2030 because of on going filming with the show? I know only season 6 has officially been green lit, but it kind of looks like they are prepping in case 7, 8, [and] 9 also come through."

No decision has been decided on Diddly Squat's parking extension as of writing. The current deadline would mean Jeremy had to return the farm shop's "temporary" car park to its natural state by the end of the month. Whether this is indicative of future seasons being filmed, though, is unclear.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again: Prime Video is well-known for its impeccable track record of young adult dramas.

The Summer I Turned Pretty and Maxton Hall dominated 2025, with Off Campus knocking all expectations out of the park earlier this year. Surely, then, Amazon's new YA drama adaptation Every Year After will make it a clean content sweep.

A week after the new TV show, based on Carley Fortune's hit novel Every Summer After, was released, fan energy feels as though it has changed for the worse.

In case you haven't caught up yet, we follow Percy Fraser (Sadie Soverall) and Sam Florek (Matt Cornett) as they fall in love, and then join them one weekend, years later, as they come back together to confront a "heartbreaking mistake," as the show itself puts it.

Basically, it's One Day without the tragically hideous ending. But while the cast have been hoping for Every Year After season 2 to be greenlit following its very subtle cliffhanger, fans aren't sharing the same enthusiasm — and they've got a "laundry list" of complaints.

'This was cheap... there was no heart'

"Listen. I LOVE teen romance. I love romance period. Gay, straight, whatever. I eat it all up. Love is love. I want all of it. Give me the yearning in all shapes and forms. But this was not enjoyable," one fan muses on Reddit.

"Every character seemed to be cast wrong. The writing is weak. Even edits were bad. Example: Delilah getting ready to golf with Jordie. They literally cut her to being in the stance before she even set up. It was extremely jarring. So cheap."

Complaints from r/everyyearaftertvshow

Another had an ongoing list of complaints (which you can see above), including Soverall and Commett having "no chemistry" in their leading roles.

"Omg everything you just said is 100% my thoughts exactly!!!" another responded. "I’m on episode 3 and debating if I should continue or not. It’s so bad…"

Several other Reddit threads also commented on how "bad" they found the cast's acting, with Off Campus fans adding that the impact is "nowhere near" what they experienced watching Prime Video's ice hockey romance.

But what about season 2? "Honestly, no. I don’t think so. Their plan is backfiring, and I’m starting to think any glowing critic reviews are paid advertisements," one fan argues.

Another adds, "I didn’t even want to watch eight episodes of season 1 lol. Can’t imagine making it through four more seasons."

The biggest mystery on Clarkson's Farm season 5 — the whereabouts of beloved pig Richard Ham — has finally been solved.

While Jeremy has had pigs on his farm Diddly Squat since the first season of the hit Prime Video series, Richard Ham, named after Top Gear colleague Richard Hammond, was introduced in season 4.

With the first four episodes of season 5 airing last week, fans quickly became concerned that Richard Ham was nowhere to be seen. This was made worse by the fact that Jeremy decided to sell off all of his remaining pigs at the end of season 5 episode 4.

After his butcher revealed that Diddly Squat was making a loss through their pork farming, the end of the episode saw him making his emotional goodbyes to seemingly all the pigs left on the farm. While it was implied that the youngest were sent to an abattoir, the two mother pigs, Clumsy and Swizz, were rehomed at a nearby educational centre.

But where did this leave Richard Ham? Clarkson's Farm season 5 episode 5 finally reveals that he is alive and well... and has a brand-new connection to Jeremy's Top Gear past.

At the halfway point of Clarkson's Farm season 5 episode 5, Jeremy remarks how quiet the bottom of the fields are now that the pigs have all been sold off. But all has not been lost, as Richard Ham is now the lone pig resident of Diddly Squat... or so it seems.

"I couldn't let him go," Jeremy tells the camera. "He can't be a Fluffer anymore, because there's no pigs to fluff. He can't be eaten, because... well, we just can't.

"And we can't breed him, so he's just going to live here. But you can't leave one pig by himself," he adds.

This is where we cut to a separate enclosure behind him, revealing that another pig is now slowly being integrated into Richard Ham's space.

"So we've got another boy pig, so Richard Ham can have a friend. And who is Richard Hammond's best friend?" Jeremy continues.

"I can't have a pig called James May," he says to partner Lisa. "What about James Boar?" he adds as the pair burst into laughter.

In their Top Gear heyday, James May was given the nickname of 'Captain Boring' thanks to his signature style of explaining minute details in a very long-winded way. So James Bore = James Boar... you can see the obvious pun.

While Jeremy seems very happy with himself and his new pig name, we're yet to see how well Richard Ham and James Boar get on together. With two episodes of season 5 yet to be released, it's currently unconfirmed if the pigs will appear in them.

It's fair to say that Jeremy Clarkson has made a career out of being enthusiastic — yet completely hopeless — at anything he turns his hand to. Clarkson's Farm season 5 on Prime Video is solid proof of this, leaving us feeling like Clarkson has learned absolutely nothing during his five years working the land.

For most of the new episodes we've streamed so far, what you see is what you continue to get. Like clockwork, Jeremy is half-heartedly trying and failing to get his new flock of sheep herded, dealing with more complaints at the pub and generally making farm manager Kaleb's life unnecessarily difficult.

From that perspective, we're getting exactly what we wanted. But for me, there are two new edges to Clarkson's Farm season 5. On the one hand, the overarching tone has become a lot more serious, as Jeremy directly challenges the UK government's budget regulations that means British farmers are increasingly unable to turn over a healthy profit (he explains all this a lot better than I can).

But on the other hand, there's a subtle yet scathing critique aimed towards the very fans watching. Heading to the farm shop Diddly Squat or to Jeremy's pub The Farmer's Dog is now on the bucket lists of national and international fans alike... and you only need to see the near-constant queues outside to see how popular they are.

But doing all of this and putting it on global display via Amazon is now starting to have a real knock-on impact — and it speaks to how ignorantly fandoms can treat what they claim to love the most.

Clarkson's Farm season 5 theft statistics are astonishing — but we should be disappointed, not surprised

In episode 1 of Clarkson's Farm season 5, Jeremy stops by the pub and begins telling us that it's haemorrhaging money by hiring a generator as a power source because it's too expensive to get it fixed in the building permanently.

Ouch. But then he goes onto to share that paying out for the generator isn't even half of what the pub is having to pay out for regular thefts inside. The day before, a "fan" had stolen £200 worth of cooking oil from the kitchen, with Jeremy revealing that punters steal on average 400 pint glasses (yes, you read that correctly), a week.

But why are the numbers so high? Because if you go in and nobody's watching, a glass is effectively a free souvenir. You paid for your pint, and Jeremy is rolling around in big Amazon money, so who is it hurting?

To an extent, this is true, but combine these numbers with the fact that so few viewers seem to be bothered by what's happened after the episode aired (just check on social media), and the admission speaks to what's happening in wider fan culture.

The phrase "treat others how you want to be treated" might have gone out of the window for good, even if we are just talking about Jezza.

If the likes of Clarkson's Farm is telling us that fan culture is in the pits, then what does that mean in the wider picture? Can Diddly Squat and The Farmer's Dog continue to function if we're so intent on doing damage? And the question we've been asking ourselves since the beginning of time: can we let ourselves have anything nice?

There's currently no word on how long Clarkson's Farm will continue for, though Jeremy has previously claimed we'll get at least six seasons out of the Prime Video series. Perhaps we should heed what we've seen so far as a personal warning... keep this up and the antics will all be gone before we know it.

Hannah (Ella Bright) and Garrett (Belmont Cameli) took on the roles of our romantic leads, with fans quickly praising the pair for their "insane" on-screen chemistry.

But much like Bridgerton, we can expect each season of Off Campus to center on a different couple, meaning that the already renewed Off Campus season 2 will head in a slightly different direction.

Luckily for us, we've already got a handle on what that might look like. From a shock cast departure to who we think will take the limelight next, here's everything we know about Off Campus season 2 so far.

Off Campus season 2 release window predictions

As of right now, release date predictions for season 2 are sketchy. Production hasn't even started yet, and we've got no idea when this might change.

Based on this, we can assume that the earliest we'd see new episodes is mid 2027, but my hunch tells me that we might be waiting until 2028.

Off Campus season 2 trailer: is there one?

Don't be silly! It took us until the end of April 2026 to get one for season 1, so expect the first full trailer to arrive around four weeks before the second season does.

We're expecting the following main cast members to return for Off Campus season 2:

Sadly, we already know that Justin Kohl (Josh Heuston) won't be returning for new episodes.

In an interview with TV Guide, showrunner Louisa Levy was asked if Justin would return. "Not next season, but I love Josh and I would not write him off if I can find a way to bring Justin back at some point," she said.

"We never got a chance to meet Stella, who is the person he ends up with in the book. So maybe we'll find a way to fold him into a future season. We don't have him [available] next season, but never say never."

Off Campus season 2 plot predictions

If rumors are true, Off Campus season 2 will be adapting Kennedy's third novel in the series, The Score. Alongside online speculation, this comes from the trailer and the season 1 finale setup for Allie and Dean, as it's implied they will be the next romantic leads.

"I think more than anything, it's almost just a way to reset the clock a little bit," Abdalla told People Magazine. "We get so much Allie and Dean in the beginning, or in the first season, that is so fun and great and cool, but I think they're flying a little too close to the sun right now."

She continues, "insecurity that [Allie] had in the beginning of season 1 is doubled. "Both of these people's fears and insecurities have just been reinforced. And so when we do get to actually explore their relationship, we're starting from an even more damaged, closed-off place. Work needs to be done."

While Levy teased that which book being adapted will be confirmed "very soon," she also told TV Guide about the future of the show, "I have big plans, but I do have to take it one step at a time, one season at a time. Next season we do have the ability to really live in this ensemble world that's really fun."

"Happily ever afters are wonderful and so important for this genre of novel, but they're not that helpful for television because we have to keep telling stories. So part of that was my attempt to give [viewers] the Hannah and Garrett happily ever after that I wanted, that I know fans will want, but still leaving something hanging and some question going into Season 2 of, 'How is this going to be resolved, and how is this going to drive story forward?' I want people to tune in Season 2 and watch what we have in store."

Will there be more seasons of Off Campus?

Logically, the answer is yes. Kennedy's original book series comprises the following five books, each exploring a different romantic relationship at its core:

• The Deal (Garrett & Hannah)
• The Mistake (Logan & Grace)
• The Score (Dean & Allie)
• The Goal (Tucker & Sabrina)
• The Legacy (updates on all four couples)

Given that season 2 is set to skip over the second book in order to adapt the third, there's more than enough scope for Off Campus to be renewed for years to come.

Levy added in her TV Guide interview, "I don't have a number in mind. I certainly have plans for the first four [Off Campus books] to begin with, but, as we know, Hunter has his own book. There's some other books in the Briar U world that I would love to be able to do, but for now, I'm really focused on those first four books."

However, there's been no official update from Amazon just yet. It's likely that no further season renewals will happen until after season 2 has started airing, so watch this space.

Vought Rising is the next spin-off that'll continue to fly the flag for The Boys' live-action universe. Indeed, with the main show coming to an end after five seasons and its live-action Gen V offshoot being canceled after two installments, it'll be up to this Jensen Ackles-led series to keep fans engaged with Amazon's satirical superhero world.

Ahead of its 2027 launch, then, what do we know about The Boys' first prequel project? Below, I've rounded up the latest information on Vought Rising, including its confirmed cast and possible plot. Without further ado, then, here's everything we know so far about the Prime Video show.

Vought Rising release date prediction

Vought Rising's release date hasn't been publicly revealed. However, in April, Deadline reported that it'll drop on Prime Video, aka one of the best streaming services, sometime in 2027. That means it could arrive three years after it was officially announced in mid-2024.

When do I think it'll launch? That's hard to say. Many of Prime Video's remaining 2026 projects don't have release dates, let alone any scheduled to air next year. That said, with three of The Boys' five seasons coming out in June or July over the past seven years, I wouldn't bet against a June or July 2027 launch.

Vought Rising trailer

Following its unveiling at special theatrical screenings of The Boys season 5's last-ever episode — and, perhaps unsurprisingly, leaking online not long afterwards — Vought Rising's first teaser was officially unveiled on May 22.

There's not a lot we can deduce from this sizzle reel-style trailer. However, among other things, it gives us a first look at the cast of characters in the period superhero-crime-drama. Speaking of which...

Vought Rising confirmed cast

Spoilers follow for Gen V season 2 and The Boys season 5.

Here's the confirmed cast for Vought Rising thus far:

• Jensen Ackles as Soldier Boy
• Aya Cash as Liberty
• Mason Dye as Bombsight
• Elizabeth Posey as Private Angel
• Will Hochman as Torpedo

Of the above quintet, we've met the first three before.

Ackles' Soldier Boy featured in The Boys' final three seasons (although his appearance in season 4 came by way of a post-credits cameo). Cash's Liberty, who we knew as Stormfront in The Boys, was a primary villain in that show's second season and then had a small role to play in season 3. Meanwhile, Dye's Bombsight played a very minor yet significant role in The Boys season 5 episode 6.

As for Posey and Hochman, they were confirmed as part of the cast in August 2025. We don't know what superpowers they'll possess, but considering Torpedo's name, I'd expect this Supe to have a water-based skillset like The Deep had in The Boys.

Given Vought Rising's place on The Boys' timeline — more on this shortly — I'd expect other characters we're familiar with to pop up at some point.

For one, Frederick Vought, aka the founder of Vought International and creator of the Supe-making serum known as Compound V, is a shoo-in to appear. He never showed up in The Boys, though, so we don't yet know which actor might play him.

Ethan Slater's Thomas Godolkin, who was eventually revealed as Gen V season 2's main villain, is also expected to appear. He was Vought's right-hand man, so he should also be a part of the proceedings.

Finally, if some of this offshoot is set in the present, aka after The Boys season 5 finale — again, I'll explain more in the plot section below — we may also see individuals like Giancarlo Esposito's Stan Edgar. Vought Rising story synopsis and rumors

Full spoilers follow for The Boys season 5.

Here's the incredibly brief plot synopsis for Vought Rising: "Set in the 1950s, the prequel series explores the twisted origins of Vought International."

Not much to go on, then, but there are certain things we already know about its story.

For starters, it'll be set in the 1950s, explore the origins of Vought International, and cover events surrounding the creation of Compound V and the first superhumans. Per Deadline, its narrative will revolve around a "twisted murder mystery", too.

Elaborating on its time period and whodunit premise, The Boys franchise overseer Eric Kripke told The Hollywood Reporter (THR): "We’re also trying to do a very gritty version of the 50s. Most people’s feeling, or sense memory, of the 50s is from movies, which are very sanitized. Even L.A. Confidential, as much as I love it, is, visually, a pretty clean movie. We wanted dirty and grimy. There would be heroin dens, gay bars, and this underbelly of popular culture at the time. So to explore all that is a blast, as well."

Little is known about how four of Vought Rising's five Supes, including Liberty, will factor into its story. Nonetheless, Ackles has dropped a hint about what we can expect to see from Soldier Boy. Speaking to Entertainment Tonight, Ackles said, "In The Boys, in modern times, [Soldier Boy is] a fish out of water. He’s an analog guy who’s trapped in a digital world. So now we see him in his element. We see … what made him who he was."

But will we see Soldier Boy in the present day, too? After all, he's still alive — albeit in cryosleep — at the end of The Boys' fifth and final season. And, with Vought International back under Edgar's control following the main show's conclusion, the Supe-manufacturing megacorporation is still operational. It's possible, then, that Vought Rising could have a double meaning — i.e., it'll relate to the company's founding in the 1950s, but it could also imply that we'll see Vought rise from the ashes after the events of The Boys 5.

Chatting to Deadline, Kripke replied "no comment" when asked if Vought Rising would take place across two timelines (the 50s and present day), but we all know that's usually code for "yes". So, don't be surprised if Soldier Boy is defrosted again and, at Edgar's request, helps him revive Vought's fortunes as the company's new poster boy.

Will Vought Rising get a second season?

Predictably, there's nothing official to report on this front just yet. For what it's worth, though, Ackles told Collider that the "intent is to have it be a multi-season show", so more seasons are presumably in the pipeline.

As with any TV show these days, especially ones made for the world's most popular streaming platforms, its future will be decided by viewers. If enough people tune in to watch Vought Rising's first installment, Amazon MGM Studios is more likely to greenlight another season than not. Struggle to make an impact, though, and it'll go the same way as Gen V and be axed ahead of time.

Prime Video has officially revealed the first teaser for Vought Rising — and The Boys spin-off already looks far more intriguing than its parent show's divisive final season.

The prequel series, which will come out sometime in 2027 and be fronted by Jensen Ackles (The Boys, Supernatural), will explore the origins of Vought International's founding and creation of Compound V, aka the Supe-creating serum. And, based on the Amazon TV Originals inaugural trailer, Vought Rising will be as much of a noir thriller as it is a satirical superhero show.

Alright, there's not much we can actually glean from this sizzle reel-style trailer. However, there are some important details we already know about the forthcoming show, including who'll star opposite Ackles, where it sits in relation to its parent show on The Boys timeline, and much more. Speaking of which...

Who's joining Jensen Ackles as part of Vought Rising's cast?

Ackles, who returns as fan-favorite The Boys character Soldier Boy, won't be the only familiar face we see in this offshoot.

Indeed, Aya Cash, who played Clara Vought/Stormfront in The Boys seasons 2 and 3, is back for more R-rated superhuman action and drama. At this point on The Boys timeline (more on this shortly), though, her individual superhero alias is Liberty, so don't expect to hear her Stormfront pseudonym used here. Mason Dye, who played Bombsight in The Boys season 5 episode 6, is also part of the cast.

As for the rest of the Prime Video show's roster, Elizabeth Posey (Heels, Euphoria) and Wil Hochman (Blue Bloods) are on board as two more of Vought's first generation of Supes. Posey will portray Private Angel, while Hochman is set to portray Torpedo.

Rounding out its ensemble in undisclosed roles are KiKi Layne (The Old Guard 2), Jorden Myrie (Bridgerton, Sherwood), Nicolo Pasetti (Industry), Ricky Staffieri (The Bear), and Brian J. Smith (Sense8, Stargate).

What is Vought Rising about?

Here's the official logline for Vought Rising: "Set in the 1950s, the prequel series explores the twisted origins of Vought International."

That's... really not much to go on, is it? Nonetheless, as I outlined earlier in this article, it'll show how Vought came to be in the wake of World War II, and how Compound V and the first Supes were created. Throw in a vast conspiracy that Soldier Boy and Liberty are likely to be at the heart of, and Vought Rising has all of the ingredients to be another hit for Prime Video, aka one of the world's best streaming services.

Of course, what Vought Rising's very brief story synopsis doesn't tell us if its narrative will take place across multiple time periods.

Indeed, with Soldier Boy surviving — albeit by way of a cryochamber — to the end of The Boys, it's possible that we could see him reawakened in the present as part of Vought Rising's overarching story. Speaking to Deadline recently, franchise overlord Eric Kripke replied "no comment" when asked if this prequel would take place in the past and present, which is ordinarily code for "yes". Don't be surprised, then, if The Boys' latest spin-off reunites us with Soldier Boy in modern-day America as well as the '50s.

Indeed, with the popular satirical superhero series drawing to a close, viewers had hoped The Boys would end in a satisfying manner. However, following the release of its final episode, titled 'Blood and Bone', large swathes of its fanbase have reacted with dismay and disbelief over its last hurrah.

Let's start with some of the more general negative comments that fans have left on various social media platforms and forums since the Prime Video show's finale premiered.

On ResetEra, Bor Gullet labeled it a "limp dick finale" that "chose the most cliche, cheapest, and unimaginative" ending. So incensed was Bor Gullet with 'Blood and Bone', they later slammed it for looking like it "was filmed on two soundstages" and having "no sense of scale or spectacle."

Running with the theme of Bor Gullet's second comment, fellow ResetEra user Narastel theorized that "something must have happened behind the scenes" to make 'Blood and Bone' feel like some "YouTube fan film stuff."

Similar sentiments have been expressed by users like Corncob, and Redditors including The_Swarm22, with some pointing out that earlier seasons had a higher production quality and then speculating on potential budget cuts for The Boys season 5's smaller-scale feel. Back on ResetEra, Nooblet summed things up as part of their message, which ended: "The whole thing felt... as if it was created by a scene generator bot."

Moving onto more specific plot threads — many of which are covered in the above Reddit post — fans had plenty to say about the finale's major showdown between Homelander and Butcher, with the latter being aided by Kimiko and Ryan in taking down the tyrannical Supe.

"Never in my wildest dreams did I think the 'scorched Earth' showdown would happen exclusively inside the Oval Office resulting in just some burned carpet and broken furniture," Redditor SectionMore lamented. Meanwhile, on X/Twitter, YesItsM1g3ul added: "7 years. 5 seasons. Homelander never went 'scorched Earth'. You gotta be f*****g kidding me."

"'Scorched Earth... *fights in a single room in the White House*... f**k off, [showrunner Eric] Kripke," Reddit user MattTheMLGPro also wrote, before IDKandfranklyIDC added: "They were literally blowing up buildings in season 2 and season 3. In the show's finale we get some broken tables."

As for Homelander's death, X/Twitter user ChappellTardis spoke for many by questioning the entire point of season 5's primary narrative. That being the storyline concerning V1, aka the very first version of the Supe-creating serum that also grants immortality to anyone who takes it. Indeed, with Homelander completely depowered and rendered mortal once more by Kimiko's nuclear blast ability, the aforementioned user angrily wrote: "The ENTIRE season V1 plotline meant NOTHING."

Fan frustration boiled over with other baffling narrative beats.

"No way, they just did a time skip from the White House straight to their house at night, casually celebrating what they did, JUST LIKE THAT??" Playful-Complaint-227 queried of the titular team walking away scot-free after killing Homelander. "No Supes protecting anything? The White House had ABSOLUTELY NO DEFENSES??"

"Starlight having to name her daughter after Hughie's dead ex is a WILD way to end both her character and the show," ResetEra user MadLaughter said of the pair's happy ending. "Imagine having a baby with your current wife and name the kid after your dead ex girlfriend," Redditor dirtyconsolepeasant7 agreed.

"I feel like Mother's Milk adopting Ryan was pretty nice, but I feel like Hughie should have recommended the Gen V cast for the task force," Redditor Nopeisawesome said of season 5 episode 8's epilogue in relation to Gen V's recent cancellation. "I mean it would slightly concluded Gen V’s plot point, which they completely wasted, but oh well."

Perhaps most galling of all, especially for Kripke and company, though, is fans' suggesting that The Boys' final episode is not only one of the worst series finales of all time, but arguably weaker than Game of Thrones' universally panned ending — something that ResetEra forumite Policy Chonk opined for many.

There are viewers who enjoyed 'Blood and Bone' and the show's final season, including Redditor xziggy123x, as well as ResetEra users ratcliffja, SamualDude, and Kuroi the Black.

Nonetheless, the common consensus — in online circles, at least — is that The Boys dropped the ball with its last-ever installment. Like Stranger Things and countless shows before it, then, its finale will go down in history for all of the wrong reasons.

So, who lives to tell the tale? And who amongst The Boys' sizeable ensemble falls at the last hurdle? I'll provide answers to those questions, as well as others, from this point on. Does Homelander die in The Boys season 5 episode 8?

Yes, the show's primary villain is killed in The Boys season 5's last hurrah.

During a final confrontation with Billy Butcher and Kimiko in the Oval Office, Homelander has the upper hand on the pair despite his numerical disadvantage. However, the battle is turned on its head when his estranged son Ryan, who has an identical powerset to Homelander, who is Ryan's biological father, arrives on the scene to help the titular team to put an end to Homelander's autocracy.

Eventually, Ryan and Butcher manage to subdue Homelander long enough for Kimiko to use her nascent nuclear bomb-style superpower on him. That ability, which she acquired after Sister Sage and the recently deceased Frenchie successfully recreated the experiment that gave Soldier Boy a similar superhuman trait in the 1950s.

Anyway, after a vision of Frenchie helps Kimiko to focus all of her energies into unleashing her new superpower, the resulting blast not only hits Homelander, Butcher, and Ryan, but strips the Supe-creating Compound V serum from their bodies, thereby permanently depowering them.

Mortal once more — remember, Homelander took a dose of V1, which grants immortality to anyone it's administered to, in season 5 episode 6 — and stripped of his Superman-like abilities, Homelander pleads for his life. Predictably, his words fall on deaf ears with Butcher, who delivers a brutal beatdown of his archnemesis in retaliation for Frenchie's death in season 5's penultimate episode.

With a cowering and bloodied Homelander leaning against the US President's destroyed table in the Oval Office, Butcher prepares to deliver the final blow. Saying "this is for Becca", aka Butcher's wife who Homelander sexually assaulted years ago, Butcher thrusts a crowbar into Homelander's skull, before removing it with such force that it spills the latter's brains and blood all over the floor and aforementioned desk.

Does Billy Butcher die in The Boys season 5 finale?

Yes, Butcher also perishes in the TV show capper on one of the best streaming services.

Later that day as the eponymous group celebrate saving the world, Butcher sneaks off to have a quiet moment with Ryan. However, despite Butcher's attempts to make peace with his dead wife's only child, Ryan dismisses Butcher's suggestion to start a new life together, with Butcher as Ryan's legal guardian and leaves.

Upset over Ryan's rejection, Butcher soon learns that his dog Terror has also died. Angry over this emotional double-whammy, and believing that it's only a matter of time before another Homelander is made and hell-bent on bending humanity to his will, Butcher locates the Supe-killing virus and leaves without telling the rest of the group where he's going.

Luckily, Hughie not only learns that Butcher has left, but also sees him head off to Vought Tower. There, the duo reunite and Butcher tells Hughie that he's added the virus to the water that feeds the building's fire sprinkler system. When the Supes clock in for work at Vought the next day, he'll activate the system via remote trigger, which will kill those who can't escape. Meanwhile, the Supes that flee will spread the contagion across the world, thereby eradicating every superhuman on the planet — including Kimiko and Hughie's long-time girlfriend Starlight.

Hughie is unable to talk Butcher out of his genocidal plan so, unsurprisingly, a fight ensues — one that Butcher easily wins. However, as he prepares to activate the sprinklers earlier than expected to stop Hughie from, well, stopping him, Butcher mistakes Hughie for his dead brother Vinnie. The delay gives Hughie enough time to grab his handgun, which Butcher had disarmed him of, and shoot Butcher twice in the chest.

As Butcher collapses to the ground and begins to bleed out, Hughie apologizes profusely for doing what he did. Butcher, though, understands why he did it and, after Hughie comforts Butcher in his final moments, the latter takes his last breath before succumbing to his injuries.

Who else dies in The Boys' series finale?

The aforementioned pair and Terror notwithstanding, The Boys' season 5 finale only kills off two other characters: The Deep and Oh Father.

Where the former is concerned, he's killed by a giant squid after Starlight uses her powers to push him into the sea. Remember, the ocean's fauna accused The Deep of causing a giant oil pipe rupture, which killed billions of underwater creatures, in season 5 episode 6. It was Black Noir II, who The Deep murders in the aforementioned episode, who actually destroyed that pipeline but, despite The Deep's protests in season 5 episode 7, his former aquatic allies don't believe him. They also tell him that, if he ever steps foot in the ocean again, they'll kill him so, when Starlight uses her concussive blast to fire him into the sea, The Deep is quickly taken care of.

As for Oh Father, he perishes at Mother's Milk's hands. Indeed, the latter uses a titanium ball gag — one powerful enough to withstand Oh Father's sonic scream ability — on the corrupt Supe when he prepares to unleash it on Hughie. The scream is so powerful, though, that it reverberates back off the ball gag and causes Oh Father's head to explode.

What happens to everyone else in The Boys' last-ever episode?

They survive — and, for the most part, get their happy endings.

Indeed, in a montage-style epilogue, Hughie and Starlight have taken over the former's dad's old audio visual store, and are using it as a front for their own small 'Supe for Hire' company. It's revealed that they're expecting their first child, too, who'll be named Robin in honor of Hughie's ex who was killed by A-Train in The Boys' first-ever episode.

Meanwhile, Mother's Milk becomes Ryan's legal guardian and renews his marital vows with his life, Kimiko follows through on Frenchie's wish for them prior to his death by moving to Marseille and adopting the bernadoodle he showed her in season 5's penultimate chapter.

On the Vought side of things, Stan Edgar becomes the Supe corporation's temporary CEO, while Ashley Barratt is impeached as US Vice-President. Lastly, Sister Sage, whose powers were taken away by Kimiko's nuclear blast ability earlier in episode 8, heads off to start a new life as a normal human being.

What happens to Soldier Boy in The Boys season 5 episode 8?

He doesn't die, if that's what you're asking. In fact, Soldier Boy doesn't appear at all in The Boys' last-ever episode.

The reason? He was put back on ice by Homelander in season 5's second-to-last chapter. Remember, Homelander incapacitated Soldier Boy when the latter refused the former's request to help Homelander oversee his autocracy. For this and many other countless betrayals, then, Homelander put his dad back in his cryochamber, which is where Soldier Boys remains... for now.

Is there a mid- or post-credits scene in The Boys' season 5 finale?

No. Once the end credits of 'Blood and Bone' have run their course, there isn't an end credits scene to stick around with. So, don't expect to get any hints about future spin-offs that are in the works at Amazon. Speaking of which...

Are there any spin-offs of The Boys in development?

Yes, franchise overseer Eric Kripke has confirmed that at least two off-shoots are in active development.

The first, Vought Rising, is set to premiere on Prime Video sometime in 2027. Set in the 1950s, it'll reunite us with Soldier Boy, Stormfront, and Bombsight — all of whom appeared at various points throughout The Boys' five-season run — in the earlier years of Vought International and the era of superhumans.

As for the other untitled project, which is being referred to as The Boys: Mexico, it's reportedly set in — surprise surprise — Mexico. Little else is known about its story, cast of characters, and/or whether it'll take place in the past or present.

Finally, the only live-action spin-off that's come out so far — Gen V — won't be back for another season after it was cancelled earlier this year. Kripke has suggested that we could see Marie, Jordan, and the rest of the show's cast again in another production, but Gen V isn't getting a third outing itself.

That's right, the Amazon TV Original's fifth season — and the show itself — will draw to a close with this week's episode. Will there be a season 6 of The Boys?

If you've somehow skipped over all of the above: no, The Boys will end after its season 5 finale drops on Prime Video.

That said, the R-rated franchise will continue once its main show ends. Vought Rising, a prequel that'll star Jensen Ackles' Soldier Boy, is set to premiere sometime in 2027.

Meanwhile, franchise overlord Eric Kripke has said other spin-offs are in the works, including a present-day Mexico-set show. A third season of Gen V, which would've been set in a post-The Boys world, though, isn't on the agenda owing to its recent cancellation.

Reacher season 5 has been greenlit by Prime Video, so there'll be plenty more episodes of the hit action series to enjoy. It has been hugely successful, with Reacher season 3 becoming Prime Video's biggest returning show last year.

In fact, Reacher season 3 was so popular that it even beat Fallout season 1's record, which says a lot about how well-received the show has been.

Now, before Reacher season 4 has even been released, fans can rest easy knowing that it will return with episodes, and the future of the popular action series hasn't been left in limbo.

We're still eagerly waiting for a release date for season 4, but it is expected to arrive at some point in 2026.

What do we know about Reacher season 5?

So far, nothing! But we do know that season 4 will adapt Lee Child's 13th Reacher novel, Gone Tomorrow, where protagonist Jack Reacher investigates a suicide on a New York City subway.

Considering there are 30 Reacher novels at the time of writing, it's impossible to guess what storyline season 5 might choose to follow next. Season 1 followed the first one, but season 2 jumped all the way to the 11th, and Reacher season 3 went back and adapted the 7th novel. So the TV adaptation has taken a non-linear approach to the source material so far.

With that in mind, we'll just have to be patient until we hear more about where Reacher's story is set to go next. Wherever we end up, I'm sure it will continue to keep us on the edge of our seats.

For now, though, we can eagerly await further news on Reacher season 4 as it has been confirmed that it will arrive at some point this year.

In an interview with Collider back in March, lead actor Alan Ritchson confirmed the news, saying, “Well, we finished shooting Season 4 of Reacher. It’s by far the best season we’ve had yet, so it’s coming. It’ll be out this year.”

Fans have been patiently waiting for all eight episodes of teen hockey drama Off Campus to drop on Prime Video, but the new TV show might have been eclipsed by its upcoming rival at the last minute.

Based on the hit book series by Elle Kennedy, Off Campus follows an elite ice hockey team and the women in their lives, as they grapple with love, heartbreak, and self-discovery.

Episodes have already been praised for their careful balance of steamy scenes and wholesome love, with leads Ella Bright (Hannah) and Belmont Cameli (Garrett) applauded for their "insane chemistry."

But as quickly as episodes have landed, viewers are onto the next thing... and Prime Video hasn't helped matters. In the hours leading up to Off Campus' release, the streamer dropped the first-look trailer for its next teen drama binge, Every Year After.

Arriving on June 10, Every Year After shares two major similarities with Off Campus: both shows have eight episodes and are adapted from smash-hit novels, with Every Year After based on Every Summer After by Carley Fortune.

Let's dig into more of what we can expect from Every Year After. With its story spanning across six summers in Barry's Bay, Ontario, we'll follow Percy Fraser (Sadie Soverall) and Sam Florek (Matt Cornett) falling in love, and one weekend years later that brings them back together to confront a "heartbreaking mistake."

As Prime Video goes on to describe, the series will be "a slow-burn romance that shifts between the past and the present, exploring whether the intense, formative love between a 'big city girl' and a 'townie boy' can withstand years of silence and unresolved pain."

Frankly, it sounds like code for getting our hearts ripped out over an eight-hour period, but that seems to be what Amazon does best when it comes to its impressive back catalog of young adult drama, which includes The Summer I Turned Pretty and Maxton Hall.

"As soon as I read this book, I said it should be adapted, I am SO ready," one YouTube comment reads, with a second agreeing, "Well, I know what I'll be doing this summer... can't wait to see this."

Like Off Campus, all eight episodes of Every Year After will be released at the same time, so get ready to swap the ice rink for a lakeside summer in just a few weeks time.

Exclusive reports from Deadline confirmed that Aaron Paul will be added to the cast, where they noted that "Paul is no stranger to working with Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy from their time together on HBO’s Westworld."

Paul confirmed the news by sharing the Deadline story on his Instagram, where he was congratulated by new co-star Walton Goggins, who plays Cooper Howard, aka The Ghoul. He wrote: "THAT’S MY GUY!!!! I’ve got some Radaway waiting for you Cowboy!!!"

Do we know anything about Aaron Paul's Fallout season 3 role?

Right now, we don't know who Paul will be playing, but I'm hopeful that they've got a great character lined up for him. This isn't the first time that Fallout has been secretive about a new cast member, as we all spent a lot of time deliberating who Macaulay Culkin would play.

Culkin went on to play the formidable Lacerta Legate in Caesar's Legion, the antagonistic and totalitarian faction from Fallout: New Vegas that we all love to hate. Come on, we've all done a Legion run at least once because it's fun to be evil.

It'll be interesting to see what sort of role Paul steps into. I can't help but read into Goggins' words, the hint at Radaway could imply Paul will also be a ghoulified member of the Wastes, but that's pure speculation on my part.

Whatever role he does take on will no doubt be brilliant, and I'm eagerly awaiting more updates from Prime Video about the new season of Fallout.

Amazon has confirmed when The Rings of Power season 3 will debut on Prime Video.

During its 2026 Upfronts Presentation yesterday (May 11), Amazon announced its Lord of the Rings prequel will return to our screens on Wednesday, November 11. No other details were provided about its impending launch, such as how many episodes will drop on the aforementioned date. However, we've been treated to a glimpse at the show's next chapter via a new image, which you can view below:

We shouldn't be surprised that The Rings of Power will return before the end of the year. After all, filming wrapped on The Rings of Power season 3 last December, so a 12-month post-production cycle, even for a series of this scale, is ample time to ensure it would be ready to broadcast before 2027 arrives.

There's been plenty of other news surrounding one of the biggest Prime Video TV Originals over the past year, too.

For starters, Stranger Things' Jamie Campbell-Bower and Heartstopper's Eddie Marsan have joined The Rings of Power for season 3 in what's expected to be substantial roles. That pair was joined by three more cast additions for The Rings of Power 3 as filming got underway in June 2025.

As for what we know about its plot, The Lord of the Rings TV series will feature a big time jump following last season's finale. Per this season's official blurb, it "takes place at the height of the War of the Elves and Sauron, as the Dark Lord seeks to craft the One Ring that will give him the edge he needs to win the war, bind all peoples to his will — and at last rule all Middle-earth". Finally, then, we can expect The One Ring to be fashioned by Charlie Vickers' Big Bad.

What else does The Rings of Power season 3's first image tell us about its story?

Possible spoilers follow for The Rings of Power season 3.

Truthfully, not a lot. In fact, it only shows Vickers' Sauron standing in a dimly-lit room while wearing Morgoth's crown, which he acquired in season 2's final episode. To remind yourself what happened in that chapter, read my The Rings of Power season 2 ending explained piece.

Even though the image doesn't confirm much about this season's plot, we can still analyze it and speculate on what's happening here. My best guess? This is where Sauron finally forges The One Ring and/or the formidable, fear-inducing armor he wears during the climactic battle known as The Last Alliance of Men and Elves, which takes place at the end of Middle-earth's Second Age.

Admittedly, it's way too early in the timeline for that hugely significant conflict to take place in season 3. Nonetheless, with Prime Video already confirming that Sauron will forge the One Ring this season, and the above image appearing to show the Dark Lord in a location that looks close to Mount Doom, aka the place he makes his prized and magical trinket, the scene is being set for Sauron's attempts to try and tyrannically rule over Middle-earth.

The TikTokification of the best streaming services is officially happening, and Prime Video is the latest platform to hop on the vertical video feed bandwagon, following suit to Netflix and Disney+.

Launching to select users in the US on iOS, Android, and Fire tablets first, Clips (which is also the name of Netflix’s video feed) is Prime Video’s latest viewing experience for mobile, a short-form video feed that’s designed to give you recommendations for your next binge watch. Prime Video first rolled out Clips with NBA highlights, and now the platform is expanding it to movies and shows.

Just like the algorithm you get with TikTok, your Clips feed uses your viewing history as the basis for offering new entertainment suggestions, putting discovery at the forefront. With the magic of a simple tap, Clips will open in full-screen mode and from there the scrolling begins. Not only can you view snippets of movies and shows from Prime Video’s catalog, you can watch the full thing directly from Clips, rent and buy titles, save to your watchlist, and share with others via messaging platforms or social media.

While Clips isn’t a completely new feature for Prime Video, it’s still a huge addition to its mobile app, and one that the streaming giant is very excited about. “As a first-stop entertainment destination, Prime Video offers customers a vast selection of premium content, and we want to make it as easy and seamless as possible for them to discover what's most relevant," said Brian Griffin, director of global application experiences at Prime Video, who added the following:

"Clips gives customers a whole new way to browse with short, personalized snippets tailored to their interests. Whether they have a few minutes to scroll or are looking for something to watch when they have more time, entertainment is just a tap away”.

At least the platform is hopeful for its new mobile experience, but that said, it doesn’t mean that subscribers are going to embrace another vertical video feed taking over their streaming apps — and it all started with Netflix.

Back in May 2025, Netflix announced it was testing vertical video feeds for mobile, not because it wanted to become a social media app, but because short-form video is the most common form of video consumption among viewers today. Just last week the streaming service unveiled its own Clips feed, and not everyone is welcoming it with open arms.

When you think about it, it’s quite counterintuitive. Users revert to Netflix and other platforms to lose themselves in the drama of a good movie or show to escape doomscrolling, and now Netflix is putting that temptation right back into their hands. As a means of discovery I can see it having its benefits, especially if you’re an incredibly indecisive viewer, but at the same time it unlocks a new lethal rabbit hole for you to fall into — one Netflix subscriber on Reddit exasperatedly called to ‘kill it with fire’, while others jumped on to voice their dislike for the feature in the same thread.

Amazon has also shared that it’s already planning to expand Clips, and the video feed will become fully available across these devices later this summer.

There are only two — that's right, two! — episodes left of The Boys. And, while its fifth and final season has drawn fierce criticism from some sections of its fanbase, it'll still be a sad day when one of the best Amazon TV Original's end credits roll for the last time.

If you're a millennial woman in her thirties like me, there's a good chance that you know the script and story of Legally Blonde better than you know your own life.

Released in 2001, the movie starred Reese Witherspoon as Elle Woods, the ditzy but lovable Delta Nu sorority president who swapped lounging by the pool for Harvard Law School in the hope of winning back her jerk boyfriend Warner (Matthew Davis).

Naturally, Elle experienced some serious character growth, becoming a freshly qualified lawyer at the top of her game by the time the movie ends. However, the new Prime Video prequel series Elle looks set to upend the story, if the new teaser trailer is anything to go by.

Set in 1995, the series follows a younger version of Elle (Lexi Minetree) as she navigates high school. In the trailer — which you can catch up with below — Elle’s parents announce that the family is moving from their home in Southern California to Seattle, and she’ll have to leave behind her picture-perfect Golden State life for the quirky, unique grunge of life in Washington state.

But hang on... isn't this exactly the same So-Cal life we see Elle living at the beginning of Legally Blonde? Prime Video has re-created the movie's most iconic moments down to a tee, but for no good reason.

Elle Woods' new backstory is at odds with Legally Blonde's character progression

From Bruiser the dog to the manicured lawn of her parents' house, Elle has all the superficial trappings that are identifiable from the first movie. But here's where the new Seattle storyline already makes no sense.

We're now expected to believe that Elle moved, experienced character growth at a Washington State high school, moved back, regressed to who she was before, then began her Harvard Law School journey. Oh, all while her parents' house looks exactly the same in both projects... even though they supposedly moved states in the interim.

In short, there's a lot of belief suspension required in order to fully get into Elle, and that's a great deal of unnecessary work. Even Bruiser having a starring role in the prequel makes no sense: he's a young whippersnapper in Legally Blonde, but if he was around during Elle's high school years, he'd have been an old man by the time he hit the halls of Harvard.

What has made Elle an enduringly popular character for the last two decades is how meaningful her personal development is. She defies all odds and expectations, applies herself to her work and moves through her fears of not being good enough, all the while never losing the charm and positivity that makes her so unique.

There's the separate argument that Witherspoon is so synonymous with the character of Elle that only she can play her, but I'm not going to get into that. My expectations were already low for Elle, but somehow, they've now sunk even lower.

Like the people of the internet say, let's invest our hopes in a Legally Blonde 3 movie instead, and see Elle as the Supreme Court Justice hero we know she deserves to be.

The Boys' showrunner has defended its fifth and final season's plot amid growing fan complaints that it's full of "filler episodes".

Speaking to TV Guide, Eric Kripke suggested that some viewers were "watching the wrong show" if they held that opinion, and/or believed that the Prime Video program's last hurrah would include "a huge battle scene [in] every episode."

Kripke's comments come in the wake of increasing fan frustration over The Boys season 5. Indeed, since its debut in early April, sections of its fanbase have responded negatively to its plot pacing, the introduction of new characters who are superfluous to the narrative and then killed off not long after their arrival, and tedious adult humor.

Such reactions have littered threads on the ResetEra forums, The Boys' Reddit page — including in its season 5 episode 6 post-discussion thread — and other social media platforms, such as X/Twitter, since the Amazon TV Original returned. And, while these individuals only represent a small portion of the show's global audience, it's their feedback to each chapter that Kripke sees first.

With the satirical superhero franchise's main show set to end after its next two episodes, it's little surprise that a clearly frustrated Kripke has chosen to reply to those who are aggrieved over how The Boys' final season is unfolding — and he doesn't hold back in his criticism of their criticism.

"None of the things that happen in the last few episodes will matter if you don't flesh out the characters," Kripke responded when asked about the aforementioned fan hostility.

"I'm getting a lot of online dissatisfaction, to put it politely, and I'm like, 'What are you expecting? Are you expecting a huge battle scene every episode?' One, I can't afford that. And two, it would be so empty and dull, and it would just be about shapes moving without having any import."

"It was important, for example, to really wrap out where Firecracker was," he said of the alt-right Supe before her demise in episode 5. "It was important to evolve Soldier Boy and Homelander's relationship and to hear how hopeless M.M (Mother's Milk) feels in episode 4. It was important to see that The Boys are fracturing between people who are gathering around Butcher and people who are gathering around Hughie.

"At no point during the writing of it was I like, 'Oh yeah, we're making filler episodes. So who cares?' We all thought at the time we're really getting these important character details. We have something like 14 characters, maybe 15. And, I owe it to all of them — in that television is the character business — I owe it to all of them to flesh them out and humanize them and their stories.

"It's just sometimes it's a giant character movement," Kripke added. "But, apparently, just because it's not plot, you're like, 'Nothing happened!' I'm like, 'Nothing happened, what?' The craziest, biggest moves happened. It just wasn't someone shooting someone else and going, pew, pew, pew. And if that's what you want, you're just watching the wrong show."

Before the interview ended, Kripke also offered his thoughts on why he felt some fans thought season 5 had largely spun its wheels in its first six episodes.

"Another thing I'll say that's interesting is, it might be — you can tell I've thought a lot about it, because I'm not obsessively online looking at people mad at me, you are! — but I think it might be a by-product of a weekly release," he mused.

"For as much as I love the weekly release — because we should take time to have people talking and arguing about the show — my guess is if you were bingeing it or watching it all at once, you would have a very different experience than watching one episode a week that you might find slow or slower than usual, and then you have to wait a whole other week for the next piece. I think that aggravates people, probably.

"To be clear, I'm a proponent for this release schedule," he said before adding, "But, I've been wondering if that was one of the side effects."

Invincible season 5 is officially a-go. The critically acclaimed Amazon TV Original will return for at least one more outing — but, judging by how much story is left to tell from its comic book namesake, I imagine there'll be a few more seasons to come.

I'm getting ahead of myself, though. You want to know all there is to know about Invincible 5 — and I'm here to give you those details. From its release window and confirmed cast, to its story specifics and the adult animated show's future, here's everything you should be aware of heading into Invincible's fifth season.

Invincible season 5 release date: what we know so far

Amazon confirmed Invincible season 5 was in development last July.

In the months since that reveal, we've learned when it could be released. Speaking to comicbook.com ahead of Invincible season 4's debut in March, co-creator Robert Kirkman indicated that its follow-up should be ready to go in early 2027. That means it could drop any time between January and April next year.

With all but one of Invincible's previous seasons airing in February or March, one of these months makes the most sense from a release candidate viewpoint. My guess? We'll see Invincible 5 sometime in March 2027.

Invincible season 5 trailer: is there one?

No — and, if past years are anything to go by, we'll have to wait for New York Comic-Con (NYCC) 2026 for one. Previous installments of NYCC have been the stage for amusing Burger Mart-set teasers for the last three seasons, so it makes sense that our first look at Invincible season 5 should come at NYCC 2026 in mid-October.

As for an official trailer, don't expect to see one before January or February 2027. Whenever some footage from the forthcoming season makes its way online, I'll update this section.

The above list isn't an exhaustive one. Depending on which comics season 5's plot — more on this in the next section — will draw from, villainous characters including Angstrom Levy, the Technicians, Doc Seismic, Omnipotus, Furnace, Kursk, Volcanikka, Universa, and Giant could re-join its already stacked ensemble.

New additions could be made to Invincible season 5's cast, too, but I'd really be getting into major spoiler territory for the graphic novels if I discuss them. For viewers who haven't read the source material, I'll refrain from ruining those surprises here.

Invincible season 5 story speculation

Major spoilers follow for Invincible, up to including season 4's final chapter.

Invincible season 5's story synopsis hasn't been revealed yet. However, last season's eighth and final episode indicated where things will go next. You can remind yourself of what happened in that chapter via my Invincible season 4 ending explained article.

Long-time fans of the graphic novels already know how the overarching narrative and supporting storylines will play out from this point on. I'm going to discuss a couple of key ones below, so this is your one and only warning: full spoilers immediately follow for the Invincible comics.

One of the most important plot threads that Invincible 5 needs to pick up concerns Thragg and the remaining Viltrumites. After their home world was destroyed, and much to Mark's chagrin, they not only took up residence on Earth but threatened to decimate the third rock from the Sun if anyone tried to stop them from co-existing here.

Even though Mark agreed to let them stay — really, what choice did he have? — will he end up telling anyone that Thragg and company are already planetside? From what I remember, he doesn't in the source material, and, even though Invincible's TV adaptation has occasionally deviated from the comics, I don't expect that to change.

Regardless, Mark's decision to let the Viltrumites remain on Earth will come back to bite him. No spoilers for what's in store for the eponymous hero, but let's just say there's an incredibly controversial moment in the graphic novels that, if it plays out in the same way in this show, will almost certainly stun viewers who haven't read the comics.

Meanwhile, on Talescria, Allen — who's now the Coalition of Planets' leader following Thaedus' death — has to make a choice about using the perfected form of the Scourge Virus or not. Do so, and he'll not only kill Thragg and company, but also Mark, Nolan, and Oliver — the latter trio being close friends of his. Decisions, decisions...

There are plenty of other major subplots that need to be revisited and/or resolved, too.

Nolan and Debbie's fractured relationship requires further examination, and we need to see if Oliver will be okay after the explosive events of Invincible season 4 episode 7. Additionally, we should check back in with the Guardians of the Globe, learn the fate of Rudy 'Rex' Connors/Robot and Amanda/Monster Girl after they were trapped on the Flaxans' home planet, and get the latest installment of The Order's ongoing civil war.

On top of all of that, there's the small matter of continuing the wholly original Damien Darkblood storyline that last season introduced, and myriad other new plot threads that Invincible season 5 will serve up. Strap in, folks, because things are only going to get dramatic from here on out.

Has Invincible season 6 been announced yet?

No, but I'll be stunned if Invincible season 6 isn't officially confirmed in the months ahead.

In recent years, new seasons of the critically acclaimed R-rated TV series have been announced at San Diego Comic-Con (SDCC). With this year's edition of the world's biggest comic book convention set to take place once more this July, I'd suggest keeping an eye out for a season 6 renewal around that time.

Our patient waiting has finally paid off — Prime Video has dropped the first full trailer for Off Campus, which you can watch below.

The series heads to the Amazon streamer on May 13, with all episodes launching in one go.

Based on the hit book series by Elle Kennedy, the series is set to follow "an elite ice hockey team, and the women in their lives, as they grapple with love, heartbreak, and self-discovery—forging deep friendships and enduring bonds while navigating the complexities that come with transitioning into adulthood," as the streamer explains.

"Season 1 follows the sexy and fun 'opposites attract' romance between quiet songwriter, Hannah (Ella Bright), and Briar University’s all-star hockey athlete, Garrett (Belmont Cameli)."

While fans have already applauded the "100% accuracy" of the trailer, fans think one scene between Dean (Stephen Kalyn) and Allie (Mika Abdalla) has already cemented a second season.

'Looks like Dean and Allie are next season and Grace and Logan are after'

The Off Campus trailer has only been out for a few hours as of writing, but the YouTube comment section is already a treasure trove of fan theories.

"'Being in love with someone who does not see you. AND IT CUTS TO DEAN WATCHING ALLIE??? OH NO WE'RE GETTING THEM IN SEASON 2 I'M AFRAID," one comment reads.

A second agrees, "Looks like Dean and Allie are next season and Grace and Logan are after", with a third adding, "Dean! The accuracy is 100%."

While some are concerned that the Prime Video series seems to deviate from the books in one key area — Garrett is famously not a fan of Halloween — the overwhelming excitement for the show's launch date proves a second season would certainly be a worthwhile investment for the streamer.

"Can't believe it's actually happening! I'M ACTUALLY CRYING," one fan screams, with another adding, "I AM SAT (giggling and kicking my feet)".

Invincible season 4 episode 8 has landed on Prime Video — and, hoo boy, if Mark Grayson thought he had it bad already, nothing can prepare him (or you, for that matter) for what's to come after that decision he's just made.

If you're here, I'm guessing you've seen the Amazon TV Original's latest finale and have big questions about what you just watched. Luckily for you, I'm a huge Invincible nerd, so I'm perfectly placed to answer them.

Haven't watched this chapter, titled 'Don't Leave Me Hanging Here', but somehow stumbled upon this article? Consider this your one and only warning: full spoilers immediately follow for Invincible season 4's finale.

Do Thragg and his fellow Viltrumites go to Earth in the Invincible season 4 finale?

In short: yes — but the revelation that they're now secretly living among Earth's population is withheld until this episode's final minutes.

Initially, it seems they've arrived on Earth with the sole intention of doing what Mark and the Coalition of Planets (CoP) did to the Viltrumites' home world — that being, completely destroying it. You can remind yourself about that in my Invincible season 4 episode 7 ending explainer.

Anyway, season 4 episode 8 opens with a cataclysmic event that sees Thragg and the remaining Viltrumites attack Earth, leaving countless dead and wanton destruction in their wake.

It's soon revealed, though, to be a misdirect. Indeed, said scenario is just a nightmarish vision that a traumatized Mark creates in his own mind aboard the interstellar starship he's travelling home on. He imagines similar incidents throughout this episode, too, including Thragg killing his mom Debbie, girlfriend Eve, and Global Defence Agency (GDA) chief Cecil Stedman. All of these contribute to him having panic attacks and, eventually, seeking therapy through the GDA.

But I digress. Upon the space vessel's arrival near Earth, Mark's dad Nolan and Zoe/Tech Jacket start to formulate a plan in case Thragg and his forces are present on Earth. However, fearing for his mom and Eve, Mark impulsively leaves the ship and heads planetside alone. One quick but fear-fueled recon mission later, though, and it appears that the Viltrumites haven't traveled to Mark's home planet. Or so we're led to believe...

Why does Mark let Thragg and the Viltrumites stay on Earth in Invincible season 4's finale?

In the final minutes of the Prime Video show's latest finale, Eve persuades Mark to take a flight to clear his head.

However, upon said excursion, he's stopped in his tracks by what he thinks is a hallucination of Thragg. Closing his eyes, Mark takes some deep breaths to compose himself but, upon opening them again, realizes Thragg isn't a figment of his imagination — he's really there.

Mark launches himself at Thragg, but, just as in Invincible season 4 episode 7, his punches do no damage. Thragg soon starts dodging Mark's increasingly wild attacks with ease before effortlessly pushing him away.

Mark lines up another strike, but Thragg bellows at him to stop, which Mark does. In the incredibly tense chat that follows, Thragg informs Mark that he hasn't done anything to Earth... yet. Mark angrily asks what Thragg wants, to which the Viltrumites' Grand Regent replies that, upon his coronation, he was tasked with leading his people out of the darkness to thrive among the stars — a mission that, still clearly weighing heavy on Thragg, he admits hasn't been easy.

Then comes the kicker. Thragg reveals that only 37 Viltrumites remain, but even that minuscule number would be enough to "tear Earth apart" and be "fair payment" for Viltrum's own destruction.

Continuing, Thragg gives Mark an ultimatum. In a voiceover accompanying scenes of Luccan, Anissa, and Krieg secretly living among humanity, Thragg tells Mark to let the remaining Viltrumites stay and breed with humans to prevent the Viltrumite race's extinction. Do so, and Earth and its inhabitants won't be harmed. However, if Mark or the CoP get in their way, billions will die and those who survive will be forced to eke out a miserable existence under Thragg's authoritarian rule.

An indignant Mark starts to say he'll never accept Thragg's truce but, as the previously mentioned hallucinations, plus a soul-calming memory of Eve smiling at him, flash before his eyes, he reluctantly agrees to Thragg's proposal.

Surprised, Thragg admits it's strange how the universe works, adding that, "willing or not," he didn't expect Mark to be his species' savior. As Thragg prepares to leave, Mark says to himself "what have I done?". Thragg hears him and, turning back to Mark, says "you just saved the lives of every person on this planet". Thragg departs, leaving a despairing Mark floating alone in the sky.

Did Eve get an abortion in Invincible season 4?

Yes, but not straight away — and there's an emotionally devastating addendum to this storyline.

After visiting Debbie to tell her that the severely injured Oliver is being treated back on Talescria, Mark leaves to see Eve, who tearfully greets him because she'd started to think he'd died. It's been months since he left to take part in the Viltrumite War, so I don't blame her.

Anyway, following some long-overdue, erm, lovemaking, Eve mentions that, as Mark (and, by proxy, viewers) can see, she's put on some weight. She blames that on living with her parents and overeating in his absence, and Mark replies that he couldn't care less about her weight gain. Eve also reveals that her powers have miraculously returned, though she's constantly worried that they'll stop working again.

Later when the pair are sitting on the Grayson household's roof, though, Eve comes clean. She tells him that she knows why she lost her matter manipulation abilities — it was, as we learned in season 4 episode 3, that she'd fallen pregnant. Tearing up, she adds that, without Mark around, she felt so alone and, if he had died, she'd have been scared about potentially raising a child on her own. Long story short: she had an abortion.

Visibly moved, Mark tries to process everything Eve's just told him. However, upon realizing that she's had to carry this burden alone for months, he quickly turns his attentions to Eve and, while crying himself, hugs his clearly distraught girlfriend to reassure her that everything will be okay.

Does Debbie forgive Nolan in Invincible's season 4 finale? And why does she go to space?

Let's start with the first question: no, but there's a clear hint that her stance has started to soften and that she might one day forgive Nolan.

Before Nolan heads back to Talescria to be with Oliver and aid the CoP's efforts to find the remaining Viltrumites, he visits Debbie again. He tells her how brave Oliver was, and that he and Mark did her proud. Replying, Debbie, rebukes Nolan for letting Oliver get hurt before chastizing him once more for trying to make amends for what he did in Invincible's season 1 finale.

As she prepares to head back into her home, Nolan flies in front of her. Re-expressing his deep regret for the devastation he caused in season 1 episode 8, he also reiterates that he's trying to change, and begs Debbie to let him show her that he deserves a second chance — something she's long believed everyone is entitled to. Somewhat taken aback, Debbie re-composes herself, tells Nolan he can't stay in the same house as her, and walks away.

Later, Debbie complains to Paul who, it's revealed, she's no longer romantically involved with. Despite the pair's separation, he surprisingly advises her to go with Nolan to Talescria to be with Oliver, adding that this world of superheroes, villains, and extraterrestrial worlds is her life as much as Mark, Nolan, and Oliver's — she just "doesn't see it yet."

Fast-forward to Nolan's departure, and Debbie shocks him, Mark, and Eve by saying she's decided to follow Paul's advice to be at Oliver's side. She tells Nolan to call down the spaceship, but he informs her that it can't land anywhere. Reclutantly, Debbie agrees to let Nolan fly her to said space vessel where they share a tender moment looking out over planet Earth. D'aww!

Invincible season 4 episode 8's mid-credits scene: what does it tell us about the Scourge Virus?

In this episode's one and only post-credits scene, Telia hands Allen, who's now the CoP's leader, a tablet with a posthumous video message from Thaedus. In the event of the latter's death, said footage was to be passed on to Allen, so he hits play.

He's probably wishing he didn't. As the recording progresses, Thaedus shockingly reveals that he created a perfected form of the Scourge Virus. That's the pathogen he made to wipe out the Viltrumites decades ago but which, while it killed billions, didn't eradicate them all

With the tyrannical species surviving the Viltrumite War, Thaedus gives Allen a single mission: no matter the cost, use the far deadlier strain to kill every single living Viltrumite. Unfortunately for Allen, that would include Mark, Nolan, and Oliver, who've allied themselves with the CoP, and who he considers close friends.

Not exactly the dilemma that Allen likely wanted as he tries to get his feet under the leadership table, but will he go through with it? We'll have to wait until next season to find out. Speaking of which...

Has Invincible season 5 been announced yet?

Yes. Amazon renewed Invincible for a fifth season last July, so we'll see how all of these events, plus many more, pan out in less than a year's time.

Oh, haven't you heard? Invincible season 5 is expected to be released sometime in early 2027, with co-creator Robert Kirkman indicating that it could drop between February and April next year. Invincible season 2 part 1 is the only one that hasn't been released around that time — it came out in November 2023 — so I don't expect Invincible 5 to follow in its footsteps. In short: keep an eye out for the latter around next March.

Invincible season 4 will draw to a close with its eighth and final episode shortly. And, even though last week's explosive and highly emotional chapter means this week's entry might not be as action-packed and destructive, don't expect the Prime Video show's latest season to go out with a whimper before its now customary annual hiatus.

The Boys season 5 episode 3 is out now on Prime Video — and its fanbase has been left divided over a key moment in the Amazon TV show's latest entry.

Indeed, this week's installment, titled 'Every One You Sons of Bitches', nearly sees another Supe lose their life at Homelander's hands. And, while some viewers are glad that the series' Big Bad doesn't go through with killing said individual, others argue that Homelander should have dealt the final blow for, well, reasons I'll get into shortly.

This is your one and only warning: full spoilers immediately follow for season 5 episode 3. Turn back now if you haven't seen it yet.

Is Ryan dead in The Boys season 5?

No. Ryan, who is the son of Homelander and Billy Butcher's dead wife Becca, survives the near-fatal encounter with his unhinged and incredibly powerful father.

Towards the end of the Prime Video show's latest installment, Ryan meets with his estranged dad after the former has yet another falling out with Billy. Earlier in the episode, Billy and Ryan had agreed that the latter would use the Supe-killing virus on Homelander to bump him off and end his reign of terror. However, Billy shelves the plan when Doctor Sameer, who had been helping the titular team create more doses of said virus, abandons his post after being reunited with his daughter Zoey. Furious about the delay, Ryan storms out.

Seething over Billy's decision and, having learned that Homelander sexually assaulted Becca many years earlier — a traumatic incident that led to Ryan's conception — in The Boys season 4 finale, an incensed Ryan finally confronts Homelander alone.

Ryan manages to keep a lid on his anger as the pair chat. However, when Homelander mentions that he's found a way to achieve immortality via V1, aka the Supe-creating serum that was first given to Homelander's dad Soldier Boy, Ryan loses it and attacks Homelander. The latter tries to calm his son down but, eventually, Homelander loses his own cool and uses his own superhuman abilities to overpower Ryan and almost pummel him to death.

Fortunately for Ryan, Homelander doesn't inflict the final blow as, in a moment of mercy from the usually impulsive Supe, he simply decides to leave. Not long after, Billy finds a severely injured Ryan where Homelander left him — and, thankfully, Ryan is still breathing. The wait continues, then, for the The Boys season 5 to claim its next victim.

Why The Boys' fanbase can't agree on whether Homelander should have killed Ryan

In the wake of The Boys' latest episode airing on one of the world's best streaming services, its fanbase has been unable to agree on whether it was the right decision to let Ryan live.

On the surface, the argument from those who say Homelander ought to have killed him might shock you, but they have their reasons.

On Reddit, user ztoff27 wrote: "Feel like they should have went through with it and killed Ryan here. Would really hammer it down that there’s nothing holding Homelander back anymore."

Able_Contribution407 agreed, saying: "Yeah, same. Would have been a big moment. Hopefully they have something cool for Ryan later to justify not doing it". Meanwhile, over on the ResetEra forums, user Stavo opined: "I wish they'd commit to Homelander killing Ryan because Butcher f****d up."

Other viewers breathed a sigh of relief that Ryan had lived to tell the tale.

"I really thought Homelander was about to crush Ryan’s skull," Redditor Quinn_Maeve wrote. "Me too. I was scared too look when butcher showed up," jalapenopizza_ replied. "I thought he was going to be dead and the next plot point would be Marie reviving him," Nice_Reading5272 added.

Of course, like every Supe who populates this universe, Ryan's fate is yet to be determined. Will he perish alongside everyone else with a version of Compound V flowing through their veins, or will he miraculously make it out alive?

"I knew he wasn't going to die, but still, the way the plot is progressing, he, Butcher, and Homelander are all going to die together. The whole reason the writer had Ryan kill those Russians was so that no one would feel bad for him," cganimater mused, to which EdgyBoi79 responded: "I genuinely doubt Ryan will end up dying. I feel like the show needs to end up in hopeful note for both Supes and non-Supes, and Ryan being the Superman of this show is too good of a hopeful Supe ending to pass up."

"I've really grown to like the theory that Ryan will become the true Superman in this universe after all the heinous shit Vought has wrecked [sic]," vcmac surmised. "The idea of him becoming better and doing it in spite of the machine, rather than because of it, would make for an optimistic ending after what's going to likely be a bloodbath. I never cared much for his character but this episode really sold me on him. Accepting his own death and going up against his dad is what a real superhero would do."

He mentions in the episode that he hurts everyone he knows, and while he does outright say it its all because of his status and powers. With less than one minute on the clock in overtime of a tight Heat vs Hornets NBA game, Amazon Prime Video’s stream cut off, leaving viewers staring at a technical difficulties message for close to two minutes.

At arguably the worst time for an outage to happen, basketball fans watching from home missed Charlotte extend its lead, but thankfully were able to tune in before the game concluded — to see Charlotte’s team eliminate Miami’s from the play-in event, blocking them from entry to the postseason playoffs tournament.

As you might expect, the outage infuriated viewers. Social media threads like this one are full of complaints that “Streaming sucks,” and another exclaims, “It shouldn’t be this hard to watch games.”

Even LeBron James was angered by the issues, “Tell me the game didn’t just cut off?!!? Am I trippin?? WTH.”

For many, the outage, plus other frustrations like commentator audio being slightly ahead of the video, and the loss of the ability to pause or quickly rewind on streaming, confirmed their fear that Amazon would be inferior to the old home viewing experience.

It also follows other live streaming woes from Netflix and its Skyscraper Live event, another example of a platform proving that its VOD doesn’t necessarily translate to a premium real-time viewing experience.

As for what caused the NBA game outage, a spokesperson for Prime Video said the problem was due to “a hardware failure in our production truck,” and that it’s conducting a “thorough internal review” into the outage.

We’ll have to wait and see if the streaming situation continues for Amazon, but hopefully, this is simply an early teething problem to resolve.

With season 1 currently streaming on Channel 4, Sky TV and Prime Video (US), we're thrust back into the chaotic friendship between unhinged Maggie (Nicola Coughlan) and burned-out Eddie (Lydia West).

Fed up with having to bail Maggie out of her wild decisions, Eddie tries to distance herself while Maggie gets her act together. It's all too relatable, horrifying and beautiful if you're a woman in her thirties like me.

If anything, Big Mood season 2 might be even better than the show's first outing. The guest stars are more jaw-dropping, the drama is more deranged, and the emotional vulnerability strikes even more of a nerve.

The more I watch, the more I feel as though Maggie and Eddie's friendship deserves the same sort of fan treatment that Coughlan gets from being in Bridgerton. I'm talking intense TikTok edits, fanfiction on Wattpad, the lot.

After talking to Coughlan about the new episodes, I'm doubling down on this. She is the first to admit that there's romance to this platonic bond — and her life advice for women watching is absolutely beautiful.

'You can like a lot of people, but to truly love someone... that's special'

"People just love seeing themselves represented," Coughlan begins. And when I watched Girls and Broad City, I was like, 'God, this really reminds me of me and my friends.'

"There is a romance to platonic love, which I know is contradictory, but there is. I think that the way that Maggie and Eddie love one another is very romantic in many ways. They truly adore one another. Yes, it does get incredibly codependent and maybe not the healthiest, but there's definitely a romance to it.

She's not wrong. Even though I know I'd be absolutely sick to the back teeth of a friendship like Maggie and Eddie's, I also can't help but yearn for it. Perhaps, that's because of what Coughlan says next.

"All of the close relationships in your life should be treasured absolutely as much as you can, because true connection with people is rare. You can like a lot of people, but to really love someone... that's very special."

Invincible season 4 episode 7 has made its Prime Video debut — and I imagine you've got plenty of questions after what we just witnessed.

The critically-acclaimed Amazon TV Original's latest chapter, titled 'Don't Do Anything Rash', has been hailed as this season's best entry. In the hours since it was released and amid the praise it's received, though, fans have been desperately searching for answers about the episode's biggest talking points.

Luckily for you, I'm here to provide them — but, be warned: full spoilers immediately follow for Invincible's latest installment. Leave this page now if you haven't watched it yet.

Does Oliver die in Invincible season 4 episode 7?

No. Okay, he gets his ass handed to him by Grand Regent Thragg, aka the de-facto leader of the Viltrum Empire and Big Bad of the entire Prime Video show, but Oliver lives to fight another day.

Despite his older step-brother Mark Grayson's warning not to attack Thragg on his own earlier on in this week's episode, Oliver ends up doing just that. However, Thragg, who I'll chat about more later, makes light work of Oliver — the incredibly powerful Viltrumite severing Oliver's lower jaw, ripping off his left arm from the elbow down, and leaving him for dead.

As I said, though, Invincible season 4's penultimate episode isn't the end of the road for Mark's half-Viltumite, half-Thraxan younger step sibling.

In the final minutes of 'Don't Do Anything Rash', it's revealed that Oliver's body was recovered by the Coalition of Planets. Back on Talescria, aka the freedom fighters' planetary headquarters, its surgeons replace his dismembered body parts with cybernetic prosthetics, and place him in a medically-induced coma inside a stasis chamber to aid his recovery.

Is Nolan dead in Invincible season 4 episode 7?

No, Mark and Oliver's father also survives. That's in spite of him getting disemboweled by Thragg after Nolan, Mark, and Thaedus, with a little help from Space Racer's supremely powerful Infinity Gun, destroy the Viltrumites' home world.

Like Oliver, though, 'Don't Do Anything Rash' confirms that Nolan is still alive and kicking. After Mark comes around after his own beatdown at Thragg's hands, he's informed by Allen that Nolan didn't succumb to his life-threatening injuries. Moments later, we see Mark reunite with his dad in the room where Oliver's stasis chamber is based, which further confirms Nolan is okay.

Does Thaedus die in Invincible season 4 episode 7?

Unlike the aforementioned individuals, the Coalition of Planets' commander-in-chief is killed in this season's seventh chapter. Indeed, he's beheaded by Thragg after Viltrum's destruction.

It's something of an ironic death, too. Earlier in 'Don't Do Anything Rash', we get to see the moment before Thaedus murders Argall, i.e. the Viltrum Empire's former leader. Following Argall's demise, Thragg keeps the former's skull as a reminder of not only the autocratic values that are instilled in the Viltrumites from birth, but also of Thaedus' betrayal and Thragg's desire to get revenge on the man responsible for Argall's death. The fact that Thragg kills Thaedus by decapitating him, then, brings Thaedus' journey full circle.

Why does Thragg spare Mark and Nolan in Invincible season 4 episode 7?

Because there are literally only a handful of Viltrumites left. Thragg wants those who remain to rebuild the near-extinct race, so killing off two of his kin in Mark and Nolan wouldn't be in Thragg's or the Viltrumite species' best interests.

That's one answer, anyway. The other lies in the final line uttered by Mark before the screen cuts to black and this episode's end credits begin — that being, that Thragg and those loyal to him have headed to Earth.

Is Thragg about to lay waste to Mark's home planet? I'm not going to spoil what happens next but, if Thragg is seeking retribution after what just happened to his own world, keeping Mark and Nolan alive to witness Earth's own potential destruction would be a major reason why. You'll have to find out if that's what happens when episode 8 airs next week.

What is the Great Purge in Invincible?

Following Argall's death, Thragg assumes control of the Viltrum Empire — and one of his first decrees actually sets his race on a potential collision course with mass extinction.

In the comics and its adult animated adaptation on one of the best streaming services, Thragg calls on his fellow Viltrumites to weed out the weakest of their kind. Thus began a brief but no less catastrophic civil war where it was every male, female, and child for themselves as Viltrumites turned on each other to eliminate all but the strongest among them.

By the end of the conflict that became known as the Great Purge, those who survived rebuilt Viltrum and repopulated their now-significantly reduced numbers. While a hugely devastating event, it's an idea that, for a time, seemed to be to Viltrum's benefit because only the hardest and most formidable members of its species remained.

That was the case, anyway, until the Viltrumite betrayer known as Thaedus released the Scourge Virus — a microorganism designed specifically to kill Viltrumites — on his home world and decimated its population. Would this have happened if the Great Purge hadn't played out and, by proxy, the Viltrumites' gene pool had been significantly bigger? It's a question that Invincible's source material doesn't answer, but it's an interesting thing to ponder.

Why is Thragg so strong in Invincible?

This question is answered in 'Don't Do Anything Rash'. However, amid everything else that happens in the series' latest episode, it gets lost in the noise.

Essentially, though, Thragg has been trained from birth to be the strongest warrior at the Viltrum Empire's disposal. He's an expert combatant in many fighting forms and has fought in countless wars throughout the centuries, too, which makes him an even more formidable opponent for anyone to take on.

On top of that, Thragg was also bred to be Viltrum's most powerful fighter. He wasn't genetically engineered per se, but his pure Viltrumite DNA, coupled with the above training and his surviving of the Scourge Virus — the latter of which nearly wiped out the entire Viltrumite race — means almost nobody, if anyone at all, can best him in a duel.

Who voices Argall in Invincible?

That'll be Frank Welker, whose acting career stretches all the way back to 1969 when he voiced Fred in the original Scooby-Doo animated show..

Funnily enough, Invincible is a reunion of sorts between Welker and Peter Cullen, who voices Thaedus. In the Transformers animated series, the pair played Megatron and Optimus Prime, aka the respective leaders of the Decepticons and Autobots. Welker and Cullen also voiced characters in the Transformers film franchise, too, with Cullen reprising his role as Optimus Prime and Welker returning to play various Decepticons.

Invincible season 4 is close to completing its current run on Prime Video. Indeed, there are only two more episodes to enjoy before the adult animated show goes on another year-long hiatus until its already announced fifth season arrives.

The Boys season 5's first two episodes have debuted on Prime Video — and the show's final installment has already claimed its first victim.

Indeed, after being forewarned that "nobody will be safe" in The Boys' final season by stars including Karl Urban, fans expect there will be numerous casualties throughout its eight-episode run. However, I don't think many predicted that the first of those deaths would occur in its very first chapter.

Does A-Train die in The Boys season 5 premiere?

Yep — and it caps a redemption arc five seasons in the making for the speedster, whose real name is Reginald 'Reggie' Franklin.

Remember the opening scene of The Boys' very first episode? You must do, but, if you've somehow forgotten: A-Train is responsible for the death of Hughie's then-girlfriend Robin. It's a shocking incident that not only introduces us to the world of this satirical and sinister superhero series, but also inadvertently sets the show's entire plot in motion.

Ever since that harrowing moment, A-Train has been on the road to redemption. Sure, he did plenty more bad things in early seasons of the Amazon TV Original. With each passing season, though, it became abundantly clear that he was a reluctant villain who eventually saw the error of his ways and started to walk a more noble path from season 4 onwards.

It's his increasingly regular acts of heroism that make his demise in The Boys season 5's first episode all the more difficult to swallow.

Initially refusing to help Butcher, Starlight, and Kimiko break out the rest of the titular team from one of Homelander's detention camps in order to protect his family, A-Train soon returns to aid their cause — and just in the nick of time.

As part of a scene that humorously mocks those Quicksilver sequences from more recent X-Men movies, A-Train realizes that Homelander is about to murder Hughie with his heat vision. Using his superpowers, A-Train rushes over and rescues Hughie before he can be killed by Homelander's laser-eye attack. Considering A-Train was the man behind Robin's untimely death, his being the one to save Hughie is a poignant moment of atonement.

Fearing for his life, A-Train flees the scene but, armed with his supersonic flight ability, Homelander doggedly pursues a fellow Supe that he now considers to be a traitor.

Just as it looks like A-Train might actually escape with his life, a near-carbon copy of the Robin incident *ahem* derails him. Indeed, he almost runs into (and kills) an unsuspecting woman who exits her car while on the phone. Luckily, A-Train manages to evade her at the last second, but doing so knocks him off balance. Entering a new stretch of the nearby forest that Homelander chased him through, an out-of-control Reggie crashes through numerous trees before coming to a stop.

Descending from on high, Homelander catches up with A-Train. Rather than plead for his life, however, the latter laughs at and mocks his adversary. Enraged, Homelander grabs A-Train by the throat, who continues to laugh in the face of his rapidly approaching death. It's a move that further infuriates Homelander and leads him to snap A-Train's neck, killing him.

How have The Boys fans reacted to A-Train's death in season 5 episode 1?

About as well as you'd expect. In the wake of Reggie's death, social media platforms, including Reddit and X/Twitter, have been flooded with posts from Prime Video viewers who, while heart-broken, believe A-Train was given a fitting albeit bittersweet send-off.

"A-Train saved his family, saved Hughie, redeemed himself from episode 1 by sacrificing himself to avoid running into a random woman, and laughed at death by Homelander right in the face," Redditor HollowLoch fittingly summarized. "Welcome to the speedster hall of fame."

"A-Train started off accidentally killing Robin while running, only for him to ultimately die this episode because he didn’t want to it again to another person," MargielaMan568 wrote. "Great storytelling. 9/10 ep[isode] for me."

"They perfected A-Train’s arc but I’m so sad," TeamVorpalSwords said, before HarryHagaran opined: "That was a hell of a ride for A-Train... I'm glad he got a quick but meaningful closure with his brother, and that he saved the day with his very own 'X-Men Quicksilver moment."

Invincible season 4 episode 6 has landed on Prime Video — and fans have mostly praised the temerity of its creative team over the amusingly deceptive end-credits scene of this week's installment.

Titled 'You Look Horrible', a lot happens in Invincible season 4's antepenultimate chapter. It's episode 6's end-credits scene, though, that's become a hot topic of conversation within the Invincible community, with many viewers praising the fake-out nature of said post-credits moment.

Is Conquest actually dead in Invincible season 4 episode 6?

In short: yes, Conquest is no longer a problem that Mark Grayson, aka the Prime Video show's protagonist, will have to deal with, because Mark killed Conquest in season 4 episode 5.

"Haven't we been here before?", some of you might be asking — and, yes, you're right. Following Invincible's season 3 finale, viewers who hadn't read the comic books assumed that Conquest was dead. That's because the combined efforts of Mark and Atom Eve not only defeated Conquest in last season's eighth and final episode, but also appeared to eliminate him.

However, that episode's own post-credits scene revealed that Cecil Stedman, Head of the Global Defence Agency, had recovered Conquest's broken body. For what purpose? To interrogate Conquest about the Viltrumites, learn more about their weaknesses, and use that information to better defend planet Earth.

If you've been keeping up with the Amazon TV Original, you'll know that Cecil's plan falls apart. As soon as Conquest wakes from his coma in season 4 episode 1, he immediately busts out of the confines of his miles-below-ground prison, returns to Viltrum, and urges its authoritarian leader — Grand Regent Thragg — to kill him for failing to complete his mission.

Saying he doesn't reward failure by taking someone's head, Thragg refuses Conquest's demand. Instead, he tasks Conquest with following through on the task he was set — i.e., dispatching of Mark, and anyone else who stands in the way of the Viltrum Empire's goal of assimilating Earth.

That brings us to last week's entry and its follow-up. In last week's entry, Mark and Conquest's latest showdown ends in the same way as season 3 episode 8's did. That being, Mark wins by killing Conquest, but almost at the cost of his own life.

This time around, it appears as though Conquest has been permanently disposed of, too. As Mark slowly recovers from his near-fatal injuries in this week's chapter, we see his father, Nolan Grayson, aka Omni-Man, burying Conquest on the remote planet that he, Mark, and Oliver Grayson are marooned on.

Invincible's latest chapter doesn't end without tricking its audience into thinking that Conquest could return for a second time, though.

Midway through its credits, we return to Conquest's grave. Ominous music begins to play as the camera zooms in on his final resting place and, as the tension-building music swells, many might expect to see Viltrum's second-strongest warrior somehow rise from the grave. Cue the use of a smash cut where the music suddenly stops and the camera lingers on Conquest's grave as a small gust of wind humorously blows some dirt across the screen.

How have Invincible fans reacted to season 4 episode 6's mid-credits scene?

As I alluded to at the start of this article, many fans have lauded the decision to make them think that Conquest would come back again, only to have the rug pulled from under them.

"Okay, that fake out ending was hilarious. I burst out laughing at 4 in the morning," Reddit user CabassoG wrote. "Broooo they got me at the end credits lmfao. What a great troll, my heart actually sank," Qedic admitted, before whovian25 opined: "I loved that fake out tease at the end."

"The Conquest theme playing at the end had us all scared lol," Aclysmic said, while Zoltreks also wrote: "The f*****g fake out at the end god damn."

There were some fans who didn't take too kindly to being misled, mind you.

On Reddit, sleepyotter92 said: "I was ready to punch my f*****g screen if they revealed that f****r was still alive". ChampionV agreed, writing: "That end bit was not funny. I was f*****g stressing". MaxGalli was similarly annoyed to begin with, but eventually saw the funny side of things, saying: "The fake out ending was hilarious. Had me from getting angry to laughing loudly for minutes when the reveal was made."

Some long-time fans of the graphic novels thought Conquest would be brought back from the dead, too.

"Holy s**t, the end credits scene had me thinking we were gonna take a huuuge detour from the comics for a second," Raimiversus admitted. "That Conquest fake out at the end had me going even though I knew it wasn't going to happen," fellow Redditor Sarcastic also opined. Meanwhile, over on X/Twitter, user TheMasterofLuck added: "I honestly thought Conquest was coming back with that end credit scene and was about to be so mad as a comic reader."

If Conquest had somehow survived, it wouldn't have been the first time that Invincible's TV adaptation had tweaked an aspect of its literary namesake. However, it arguably would have been the biggest — and, potentially, most contentious — alteration so far because it would have fundamentally changed the overarching story. Thank goodness, then, that it won't.

Oi, it's time to start counting down to the end of The Boys. One of the most popular Prime Video shows of all-time is set to draw to a close with its fifth and final season. And, if you're anything like me, you've been keenly awaiting its arrival since last season ended.

There won't just be one episode to enjoy on launch day, either. Indeed, The Boys season 5's first two chapters will drop simultaneously when the R-rated TV series returns. When will that be? I'm glad you asked — read on for those diabolically all-important details.

What is the launch time for The Boys season 5's two-episode premiere?

Right now, The Boys 5 is set to make its grand entrance on Wednesday, April 8.

As long as Amazon doesn't do what it did with Fallout season 2's first and last installments, and release The Boys season 5's first pair of episodes early in the Americas, they'll come out on the aforementioned date worldwide.

Of course, Amazon could make a last-minute decision to air them on the evening of April 7 in North and South America. If that happens, I'll update the dates and times listed below. For the time being, here's when they should drop on one of the world's best streaming services:

Invincible season 4 episode 5 has made its debut on Prime Video — and it finally introduces us to a hero who's been teased since season 3's penultimate chapter.

Titled 'Give Us a Moment', Invincible's latest chapter primarily focuses on the build-up to this season's tentpole event. That being, the Viltrumite War, aka the conflict that erupts between the tyrannical Viltrum Empire and the freedom-fighting Coalition of Planets (CoP).

The latter has sought out allies to aid their cause since its introduction in season 2, but it's only now that we've been formally introduced to the CoP's final additions. Indeed, Space Racer only joined the cause in season 4 episode 2, and they've now been joined by another newcomer who appeared — albeit in cameo form — in last season's seventh chapter. Full spoilers immediately follow for 'Give Us a Moment', so turn back now if you haven't watched it.

Invincible's Tech Jacket explained: who is the new Iron Man-like hero?

Real name Zack Thompson, Tech Jacket first appeared in Invincible #27, but didn't become part of the comic book series' wider narrative until Invincible #60. The latter issue, which predates the Viltrumite War's run from #71 to #78, then, marked this individual's actual debut in the source material.

In the comic books, Thompson is a high-school student who acquires an extremely powerful piece of technology after stumbling upon a crashed spaceship. There, Thompson finds its only crew member — Kelda, a member of an alien race called the Geldarians — dying after being severely injured in the crash.

With the vessel set to self-destruct, Kelda transfers its suit of armor and weaponry, aka the Tech Jacket, to Thompson to protect him from the ensuing blast. With Kelda perishing in the explosion and the tech now permanently bonded to him, Thompson vows to use it for good. Because the human race's physiology is far more rebust than the Geldarians', he's able to put his Tech Jacket to better use than its extraterrestrial inventors, too.

Arriving on Earth after believing Thompson stole their tech, the Geldarians enlist his help in their decades-long war against another race known as the Kresh after being impressed by his aptitude and use of the Iron Man-like apparatus. Following that conflict, Tech Jacket returns home and, unbeknownst to Earth's other heroes, helps them during the cataclysmic event known as the Invincible War. Not long after, he's recruited by Allen the Alien to help the CoP's most powerful heroes to battle the Viltrum Empire.

I won't spoil what's to come in the rest of the Amazon TV Original, including the outcome of the Viltrumite War or Thompson's fate. What's fair game from a discussion perspective now, though, is a key change that Invincible season 4 makes to Thompson's origins — and it's one that I think some fans might be irked by.

How does Tech Jacket differ from their comic book counterpart in Invincible season 4?

In short: Prime Video's adaptation changes Tech Jacket's gender. Indeed, he's male in the source material but, in the adult animated series, Tech Jacket is a female teenager who goes by the name Zoe. Coincidentally, she's voiced by an actor with the exact same first name, too, albeit with a 'y' on the end because she's played by Zoey Deutch (Nouvelle Vague, The Politician).

This isn't the first major alteration that's occurred in Invincible's small-screen retelling. Mark's former love interest Amber Bennett, who's Caucasian in the comics, is Black in the show. Meanwhile, William Clockwell, Mark's best friend in college, is straight in the graphic novels, but gay in the TV series.

With Invincible's small-screen adaptation first premiering almost 20 years after its literary namesake, the above changes are small but significant examples of how real-world representation is now reflected in the programs we watch.

Nonetheless, a vocal minority of Invincible's fanbase didn't react well to what they perceive to be unnecessary switches of Amber's race and William's sexuality. Heck, you only need to look Invincible season 4 episode 4 revealing that William has a new voice actor to see that some diehards simply don't like revisions to their sacred texts. So, I wouldn't be shocked if Zoe's introduction is similarly criticized by the vocal few.

Frankly, Tech Jacket's gender-swapping doesn't matter in the grand scheme of things. I can already imagine the backlash that'll come from said minority, though, once they find out that Invincible's latest hero isn't a boy, but a girl. On this occasion, let's hope I'm wrong.

Amazon has announced the official streaming release date for Crime 101 — and you'll be able to watch it sooner than you think, because it's set to arrive on Wednesday, April 1.

The crime thriller, which features Marvel actors Chris Hemsworth and Mark Ruffalo among its star-studded cast, only made its theatrical debut on February 13. However, Amazon has now confirmed that the movie will come to Prime Video in the very near future.

For those who might have missed it: Crime 101 is a largely faithful adaptation of Don Winslow's acclaimed novella namesake. In it, Hemsworth plays Mike Davis, an elusive thief who's committed a number of armed robberies on Route 101 in Los Angeles.

However, when a diamond heist nearly costs him his life, Davis draws up plans to carry out one last big score — one he enlists the help of high society insurance broker Sharon (Halle Berry) for — so he can exit the game for good. Well, as long as he can evade dogged detective Lou Lubesnick (Ruffalo), who's been on his tail for years. Oh, and as long as the young, violent criminal known as Ormon (Barry Keoghan) doesn't thwart Davis' plans.

Is Crime 101 going to be available on Prime Video worldwide?

On the surface, you would think so. Crime 101 is an Amazon MGM Studios production, so it should be a safe bet that it'll drop on Prime Video, aka one of the world's best streaming services in every nation, right?

Not exactly. Amazon led production on the movie, but it was only distributed by the e-commerce giant's entertainment division in North America. Sony Pictures handled that side of things internationally — and, with Sony films debuting on streaming platforms like Netflix in countries such as the UK, there's no guarantee that Crime 101 will premiere on Prime Video across the globe.

It would be odd if an Amazon Original Movie launched on Netflix, which is one of Prime Video's biggest rivals. Unless Amazon confirms that Crime 101 will only land on its streaming service in the next couple of days, we'll just have to wait until April 1 to find out for sure.

For what it's worth, I've reached out to my contacts at Amazon and Sony to find out more. If I receive a response, I'll update this section.

Invincible season 4 is moving too fast for my liking. Indeed, only four more episodes — including this week's entry — are yet to be released, so it won't be long until the Amazon TV Original leaves our screens once more.

Excitement is building for the release of The Super Mario Galaxy Movie on April 1. The trailers are full of game-accurate detail, the posters hint that there could be a Super Smash Bros. crossover in the future, and if it's anything like the first movie, we should brace ourselves for considerable box office success, too.

However, there's a good reason why I still can't muster up much enthusiasm for it, and it's do to with Chris Pratt. His Mario voice is all kinds of wrong, and if I could change anything about the Nintendo franchise, it would be Pratt's involvement.

Don't get it twisted, though — I'm a fan of the man himself. And while I won't be watching The Super Mario Galaxy Movie this weekend, I will be streaming the most-watched film on Prime Video this week that he stars in... which just so happened to be slammed a few months ago.

Why you need to stream AI movie Mercy on Prime Video this week

I'm talking about Mercy, the January flop that starred Pratt as Chris (coincidentally), a man wrongly accused of a crime he didn't commit. For his trial, he's sent to the Mercy courts, which are presided over by an AI judge that just happens to look exactly like Rebecca Ferguson.

There are no lawyers, no right to a defense, and no time to think. Chris has 90 minutes to prove his innocence by a certain percentage, only using evidence he can gather and sift through himself. Oh, did I mention he's tied to a mechanical chair the entire time?

While there's a lot that Mercy gets wrong, it takes risks in ways we probably didn't appreciate when it first came out in January. Confining a movie to one location is no easy feat, and Mercy manages to deliver a nail-biting mystery without its main protagonist so much as standing up.

Then there's the conversations about AI itself. Artificial Intelligence doesn't come away from Mercy as a hero or a villain, instead asking us to question if we're using it in the most beneficial ways (answer: no).

In the final 20 minutes of the movie, all hell breaks loose — and as does Chris from his chair. Mercy taps into typical action tropes to deliver its final showdown, and it's an effective shift. If you haven't enjoyed the story being told through screens up until this point, it's a much-needed reprieve.

In hindsight, I think I was too harsh on Mercy when it first released in January. I was sure that it was set to be one of the worst movies of 2026, but somehow, I've already seen films that have been far less satisfying (ahem, the Peaky Blinders movie).

Even if you're stoked for Super Mario's return, Mercy would actually make a pretty sweet Chris Pratt double-bill. Both in fantasy land, with a looming villain and a race against time... what more could you ask for?

Invincible season 4 episode 4 has been released on Prime Video — and, while it does something that the adult animated show hasn't before, fans can't stop discussing a different part of its latest chapter.

Before it made its bow, I was convinced that conversations about Invincible season 4's newest entry, titled 'Hurm', would be dominated by the fact the story it revolves around is new, and not pulled from the comic book. And yet, viewers can't stop talking about a seemingly inconsequential scene in this episode's latter moments, which has perplexed some and irked others.

Why 'Hurm' breaks new ground for Invincible

As I alluded to, the Amazon TV Original's latest episode is the first to include narrative material that isn't adapted from Invincible's literary counterpart.

Indeed, the plot — which follows on from the mid-credits scene in Invincible's season 3 finale — centers on Damien Darkblood, the demon detective who was banished from Earth by Global Defence Agency (GDA) chief Cecil Stedman in season 1 episode 4. In the comics, this is where Darkblood's story ends — so, why was he not only brought back, but also installed as the co-lead of this season's fourth chapter?

Robert Kirkman, co-creator of the graphic novels and its TV adaptation, always wanted this story — which sees the eponymous hero literally dragged to Hell to help Darkblood defeat the unkillable Volcanikka — to be part of Invincible's 144-issue run.

Speaking to Variety last March, Kirkman said: "We always wanted to figure out a way to get Damian Darkblood back into the show, and then — gosh, do I want to spoil this? There’s a storyline from the comic that I never got around to doing.

"Every superhero story has some chapter where they go to hell and they fight the devil. It happens in DC and Marvel comics. It’s a big deal. I never got around to doing anything like that in Invincible. I kept getting side-tracked and there was never a good time. So, it’s entirely possible that we may be doing something like that in the show."

Clearly, this Darkblood-centric side story is something that's been on Kirkman's mind for a long time. The above Reddit post, which includes a screenshot of Kirkman responding to a fan about his desire to reintroduce Darkblood in the comics but not having the space to do so, confirms as much. With 'Hurm', Kirkman finally realizes his vision for this Hell-based storyline.

Was it worth the wait? Based on the online reactions I've seen thus far, fans are decidedly mixed on the new material that the Prime Video show contains. Indeed, threads on r/Invincible and the ResetEra forums are full of fan opinions, ranging from 'pleasantly surprised' to 'thoroughly underwhelmed'.

Of course, those views are just a snapshot of what the series' global audience thought of 'Hurm'. At the time of publication, it's only been eight hours since season 4 episode 4 debuted, so I suspect the opinion pendulum will swing further in one direction over the other in the hours, days, and weeks to come.

Where's your original voice actor, William?

If there's one thing that Invincible's fanbase can agree on, though, it's that they do not like who's voicing William Clockwell now.

In seasons 1 through 3, Andrew Rannells was the actor behind Mark Grayson/Invincible and Samantha Eve Wilkins/Atom-Eve's gay best friend. However, after William's first appearance in this season's fourth episode, he sounds very, very different.

The reason? Brandon Scott Jones has replaced Rannells — and viewers are already *ahem* voicing their displeasure over the change.

Indeed, numerous threads on r/Invincible, including ones started by No_Yogurtcloset6575, Flat_measurement2579, and ShuckU are packed with comments from fans agreeing with their fellow audience members that Jones' portrayal is a step down on Rannells'. The same is true on other social media and discussion platforms, such as X/Twitter and the ResetEra forums.

Again, at the time of publication, there's no word from Amazon, nor Kirkman and his fellow TV adaptation co-creator Simon Racioppa, as to why Rannells is no longer involved. Whatever the reason, people aren't happy — but, if Jones is now the permanent voice of William, I guess we'll have to get used to it.
