Both Black Friday and Cyber Monday have passed, and so now we just have Boxing Day sales in Australia to look forward to for any end of year discounts on TVs, soundbars and media streaming devices.

Black Friday and Cyber Monday are usually the sales events to serve up the biggest discounts of the year, but with Boxing Day sales representing the final chance for retailers to clear stock, we'll be hoping for some equally big discounts.

Just as we hoped in 2023, however, we saw prices slashed on some of the best TVs throughout the Black Friday weekend, including models from the likes of Samsung, LG, Sony and TCL, as retailers started clearing some stock in the lead up to future launches in 2024.

While Cyber Monday has officially wrapped up, we'll still keep hunting down the best TV deals across the web right throughout the year. If you want to stay up-to-date with discounts on TVs and soundbars, check out our best TV deals hub for regular updates and discounts.

The creme de la creme of LG's OLED TV lineup for 2023, the G3 OLED evo is one helluva screen. Employing Micro Lens Array (MLA) technology to help better distribute light, resulting in improve contrast and greater brightness, the G3 helps to bridge the gap between OLED TVs and their LED counterparts. Still an investment at this price we admit, but if you want the best possible OLED picture, the G3 is unrivalled.

Decent savings on a big-screen TV here, with just under AU$780 off this 75-inch LG QNED screen. <a href="https://www.techradar.com/news/what-is-qned" data-link-merchant="techradar.com"" data-link-merchant="appliancecentral.com.au"">QNED is essentially LG's answer to Samsung's QLED, in that it uses hundreds of thousands of Mini LEDs to control brightness and contrast. In essence, it works to offer contrast similar to OLED, but with added brightness benefits. And at 75-inches, this screen is plenty big enough for the whole family to gather around at Christmas.

We haven't reviewed this Philips TV ourselves, but genuine customer reviews appear to paint a good picture. It uses the company's P5 Perfect Picture processor, which has been around for a few years now, but which still promises to improve the image of whatever you're watching, across contrast, motion, colour and sharpness. While we can't fully vouch for its effectiveness, a sub-AU$1,000 65-inch 4K TV from an established brand such as Philips still represents a mighty fine deal to us.

For a wallet-friendly AU$777 asking price, you could get this  Philips 55-inch 4K TV complete with Ambilight technology. In this instance, you get 3-sided Ambilight, meaning just the bottom edge of the screen goes without a strip of LED lights.

Ambilight works by replacing the colours onscreen, helping to effectively extend the image beyond the TV's frame and onto the wall behind it (it works best if you have a plain white wall) resulting in a more immersive image.

One of our favourite TVs of 2023 has received a good discount here for Black Friday, although weirdly, we did see it slightly cheaper earlier in the week. There's not a lot this screen can't do, and everything it does do, it does incredibly well. It's a boon for gamers, is super bright (although its S95C sibling is brighter) and delivers impressive sharpness, detail and colours. It's a sensational screen that is made all the more attractive with a list price of just under AU$2,890, plus use the code HGTNOV at checkout and save an additional AU$120.

The gateway into Samsung's range of Neo QLED screens, in our review we said the QN85C makes a great TV for gaming. It doesn't quite hit the super levels of brightness as the more accomplished TVs further up the QN range, but if you watch the majority of your content in a room where you can dim the light, this shouldn't prove to be much of an issue.

This latest model comes with increased memory, which should result in improved performance and it also gets Samsung's Gaming Hub built-in, which allows for instant access to Xbox Game Pass. The company's Tizen OS also provides easy access to all the major streaming apps. Enter the coupon HGTNOV at the checkout to take another AU$60 off the sticker price.

Yes, LG's 2023 model C3 is more affordable than this 42-inch OLED TV from Sony (launched in 2022) during Black Friday, but this dinky TV produces a thoroughly impressive image. It particularly excels when it comes to sharpness and detail, serving up pictures with astonishing realness. It isn't the brightest OLED ever, it must be said, but if you're watching in a dark room, this shouldn't be much of an issue. It was certainly expensive when it was first released, but this Black Friday discount makes it a more compelling option as a superb screen for a smaller room.

While we haven't yet been able to give the TCL C845 the full TechRadar review treatment, if its C835 predecessor is anything to go by, we have no doubts that it will be another top performer for the brand. While the number of Mini LEDs has remained the same, the number of dimming zones has increased, and these are used to better control and direct light, which should result in a brighter image with greater contrast.

<a href="https://getprice.com.au/prodhits.aspx?refname=gplink&shopid=2496&subtag=hawk-custom-tracking&link=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.appliancecentral.com.au%2Ftv-audio%2Faudio%2Fts8132-tcl-soundbar-home-theatre-system" data-link-merchant="appliancecentral.com.au"">TCL TS8132 | AU$599 AU$362 at Appliance Central (save AU$237)

This TCL soundbar proves you don't necessarily need to spend huge money to get Dolby Atmos in your home. You get two dedicated upward firing drivers to handle Atmos sound effects and the result is certainly pleasing. Yes, you will get more detail and low-end oomph from 'bars that cost two or three times as much, but if you're looking for a simple plug 'n' play Atmos solution, the TS8132 is hard to pass up.

Sony HT-G700 | AU$695AU$495 at Amazon

<a href="https://target.georiot.com/Proxy.ashx?tsid=8428&GR_URL=https%3A%2F%2Famazon.com.au%2FSony-HTG700-3-1ch-Dolby-Atmos%2Fdp%2FB088H2Q3S2%3Ftag%3Dhawk-future-22%26ascsubtag%3Dhawk-custom-tracking-22" data-link-merchant="Amazon AU"">Sony HT-G700 | AU$695 AU$495 at Amazon (save AU$200)

The Sony HT-G700 is our current pick for the best budget soundbar, and now it's received a AU$200 discount at Amazon, it makes even more economical sense. It might be a one-bar audio solution, but it's still capable of delivering a decent Dolby Atmos experience at home. It's also a great option for music playback too, making it a versatile audio upgrade for your main room.

Samsung HW-Q990C | AU$1,995AU$1,295 at Appliance Central

<a href="https://getprice.com.au/prodhits.aspx?refname=gplink&shopid=2496&subtag=hawk-custom-tracking&link=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.appliancecentral.com.au%2Fhw-q990cxy-samsung-q-series-soundbar-2023" data-link-merchant="appliancecentral.com.au"">Samsung HW-Q990C | AU$1,995 AU$1,295 at Appliance Central (save AU$700)

The Samsung Q990C – the current <a href="https://www.techradar.com/au/news/audio/home-cinema-audio/tr-top-10-best-soundbars-1288008" data-link-merchant="techradar.com"" data-link-merchant="appliancecentral.com.au"">best Dolby Atmos soundbar in our opinion – has indeed dropped slightly further in price for Black Friday, albeit only by AU$10. This is an incredible price for an incredible at-home Dolby Atmos solution, and one that will seriously elevate your movie viewing experience.

Note that Appliance Central has actually reduced the original price of this soundbar, so the discount doesn't look all that great. But trust us, the original price at launch was just under AU$2,000.

Black Friday 2023 TV deal predictions

Whilst we will have to wait until the all-important date of Friday 24th November to find out exactly which TVs will be getting the Black Friday deal treatment, we can use experience from Black Friday sales gone by to make some predictions, which could help you decide how much money – if any – you'll want to start saving.

OLED TVs have seen a slight surge in recent years. For a time, LG was virtually the only TV manufacturer to put its weight behind the technology, but Samsung and Sony have recently entered the fray and to great effect. 2023 saw the launch of Samsung's second attempt at an OLED screen in the S95C (which we awarded a full five stars). We did see some good discounts on its S95B predecessor in 2022, so our fingers are crossed for a repeat this year.

Some of LG's incredible lineup of OLED TVs also received discounts of up to AU$1,000 in 2022. The 2023 range of LG OLED TVs has continued to impress, and select models have been given various discounts since their launch. We therefore expect some more aggressive discounts over the course of the Black Friday weekend.

Big-screen TVs – and by big, we really do mean it – have have seen their numbers increase in 2023, presumably because manufacturers believe them to be the 'next big thing'. But, buying a 98-inch screen, for example, is a sizeable investment, with prices soaring well beyond more conventional sizes of 65- and 75-inch. If you've been itching to bring a genuinely big-screen experience home, Black Friday 2023 could be the time to do it.

To help give you a rough idea of what to expect in the Black Friday TV sales 2023, you can find a selection of the best deals we saw in 2022 below.

Sony A80K Bravia XR 77-inch OLED TV | AU$6,995 AU$5,488 at JB Hi-Fi (saving AU$1,507)

Sony's mid-range OLED saw discounts of up to AU$1,500 depending on the size of the screen at JB Hi-Fi, making it one of the best Black Friday TV deals we saw all weekend. We'll wait and see if the 2023 range gets similar discounts this year.

Image

Samsung S95B 65-inch OLED TV | AU$4,495 AU$3,295 at The Good Guys (saving of AU$1,200)

As mentioned, the Samsung S95B got a hefty discount courtesy of The Good Guys. Samsung, too, slashed the prices of select TVs on its own website. Considering Samsung TVs continue to be in demand, we wouldn't be surprised to see all the retailers attempt to out muscle each other.

TCL 55-inch C835 Mini-LED TV | AU$1,999 AU$1,260 at Appliance Central (saving AU$739)

TCL proved itself to be a dark horse in 2022 with the launch of the C835. Its follow-up, the C845 continues to prove you can pick up a fantastic TV without spending mega money, and if it does receive a Black Friday discount, it could be one of the standout bargains.

Samsung HW-Q930B Soundbar | AU$1,499 AU$745 at Appliance Central (saving of AU$754)

Samsung has proven itself to be a bit of an expert in the soundbar space too, and this Q930B continues to hold a spot on our list of the <a href="https://www.techradar.com/au/news/audio/home-cinema-audio/tr-top-10-best-soundbars-1288008" data-link-merchant="techradar.com"">best soundbars. Newer models have been released this year, so we'll be keeping our eyes peeled for similar discounts.

Black Friday TV deals 2023 FAQ

When will the best Black Friday TV deals start in 2023?

Black Friday officially begins on Friday November 24 2023. However, as we've seen in previous years, the discounts could start cropping up earlier. This varies from retailer to retailer as they try to outdo each other with earlier and earlier sales, but the best deals typically happen between Black Friday and Cyber Monday. But keep a lookout from about a week ahead of the actual Black Friday date.

Where are the best places to find Black Friday TV deals?

In Australia, you'll find the best Black Friday TV deals from many of the usual brick and mortar retailers, along with several reliable online stores. Discounts will usually consist of hundreds of dollars off the usual RRP, while some models (most often clearance stock from last year) will even get slashed by thousands.

In our experience, you can count on the following retailers for Black Friday TV bargains:

Should I wait until Cyber Monday for TV deals?

That depends. Cyber Monday kicks off on the first Monday after Black Friday, falling on November 27 this year. You'd be forgiven for thinking all the deals would be exhausted over Black Friday (which typically extends throughout November these days), but Cyber Monday is still a great time to save money on the tech you want.

We'd recommend going for the best Black Friday TV deals rather than waiting for Cyber Monday, but if you don't find what you're looking for, it's a great second chance to find a discounted TV.

Essentially, any online store is worth keeping an eye on over Cyber Monday; after all, it's a sales event dedicated to online shopping.
