  1. Logitech G51 Speaker System review

    Logitech G51 Speaker System review

    8

To invest in a 5.1 speaker system you’ve got to be a keen gamer or someone who loves to hear music while sat at their PC. So, assuming that you fall into one of these categories, you’re going to be more than a little interested in Logitech’s satellite-ample G51 system.

    CEntrance MicPort Pro review

    CEntrance MicPort Pro review

    8

MicPort is a USB-powered mini-amp that enables the signal from a three-pin XLR microphone to work with your Mac. It’s useful because a Mac won’t take an XLR signal without amplification, and because it outputs the signal over USB for an easy connection with the computer.

Razer Mako 2.1 THX Speakers review

    9

The Razer Mako 2.1 speaker set is absolutely phenomenal. Without a shadow of a doubt, it's the best looking and best sounding 2.1 desktop system we've ever come across. And that's high praise indeed, because there are some pretty damn good PC speaker systems out there.

    Parrot DS1120 Bluetooth Speakers review

    6

It's sometimes very hard to review a pair of low-end speakers. Weighing functionality against audio fidelity is an almost impossible task. And yet that's what we're having to do with the Parrot DS1120s.

    Plantronics Audio 770 review

    9

We've had a lot of issues with gaming headsets recently, mainly down to the fact that so many of them use a USB connector and boast instant surround sound. All well and good if you're running onboard sound, but if you've spent out a little on a decent sound card, like the wondrous X-Fi, then no matter how good the cans, you're going to go for a set with analogue connectors.

    Saitek 3D 380 2.1 Speakers review

    Saitek 3D 380 2.1 Speakers review

    7

This mid-price speaker set from Saitek, just misses out on the 'quality' sector. Despite having a fairly impressive sub-woofer the satellite speakers of the Saitek 3D 380 are a bit of a disappointment. They aren't particularly stable sat up on their end and get in the way when laid down on their bellies.

    LaCie FireWire Speakers review

    8

LaCie, like Apple, puts a premium on good design. So when LaCie set about making these FireWire desktop speakers, it should come as no surprise that design luminary Neil Poulton was called in to do the job

There seems to be a modern obsession for enjoying media as far from the source as possible. Slingboxes enable us to watch television from a Web café in Phuket and Orb gives us access to our MP3 files from darkest Siberia

    Creative Gigaworks T40 review

    7

We're big fans of the Gigaworks T20 speaker set, and very familiar with it, so it was amusing when the T40 arrived having sprouted an extra midrange cone on each speaker, like some kind of sonic mutant.

    Creative Gigaworks HD50 review

    8

Small and compact, these Creative Gigaworks HD50 speakers have a minimalist look. When it comes to sound quality we found them perfectly acceptable but, with no dedicated subwoofer, you'll notice the lack of bass, especially at high volume.

Are you in the market for some speakers to bring all that fantastic Mac media potential up a notch? Then you might as well get a pair that look as good as these. Fun is the order of the day here with these retro-looking boxes from Scandya.

Tritton Audio Xtreme PC headphones review

We're used to thinking of surround sound as being created by encircling the listener with several speakers positioned around a room. So how is it possible to create this effect using a pair of headphones?

Okay, so what’s the most important thing when you’re looking for a new set of gaming headphones? Well, most of the time I’d say sound quality, in which case these AXPC headphones come up trumps.

    Steel Series Siberia Neckband review

My ears are in love; cocooned as they are in soft, soft foamy cloth, being lovingly caressed by the alternately booming then plinky, twinkly noises emanating from the twin speakers set at a comfortable distance away from my lugs. This is one seriously good gaming headset.

By rights I should love any company that attempts to supply me with wireless audio. At home I have to clamber into a nest of wires that creep and clutch around my gaming chair until I end up looking like the victim in Japanese tentacle porn.
