We're bowled over by the entry-level model of Yamaha's 25th anniversary amp line-up. How far does it punch beyond its price point?

That surround sound adds another dimension to your enjoyment of movies is indisputable. Problem is, it also injects a helluva lot of speaker boxes into your living space. That’s not always domestically acceptable, which is why Yamaha has been pre-eminent in pushing the soundbar concept

    Yamaha S2000 CD Player/Amp review

Yamaha’s contribution to the world of high fidelity has been distinctive, sometimes even distinguished, but also more than a touch patchy, with long barren spells punctuating the infrequent highlights. The latter include true world beaters such as the CT1000 tuner and the beryllium tweeter equipped NS1000. But ambitious mainstream high fidelity components have been noticeable by their absence; the new 2000 series components you see here being their first important new introductions for many years.

    Yamaha DSP-AX761 review

    8

Yamaha has crammed the DSP-AX761 full of features and DSP modes and added some cool innovations of its own. It looks slick with its titanium livery and trademark orange display. This is a 7.1 channel amp, but there are two additional front channels for an extra pair of 'front effects' speakers, powered by proprietary DSP processing. It trumps 7.1 with a soundfield designed to fill larger roo

    Yamaha RX-V2600 review

To get the V2600, take an RX-V4600, cut out the i.Link inputs to save a few shekels on the retail price, and add in a full-fat 1080i/720p video scaler. As both models are still current, the differentiator is one of price

Yamaha's DSP-AX759SE has a lot to live up to: its predecessor bagged a Gold Award in our Awards Issue last year. Even a cursory look over the new unit reveals that Yamaha is working on an "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" philosophy

    Yamaha RX-V559DAB review

The Yamaha RX-V559DAB is one of the first surround receivers to incorporate a DAB tuner alongside built-in FM and AM tuners. The Digital ToP-ART specification means that the RX-V559DAB incorporates some of the brand's top-draw electronics.

    Yamaha DSP-Z11 review

The first amp I ever owned was a Yamaha, vintage 1978. It had 10W per channel in stereo and four controls – and one of them was on/off. Fast-forward 30 years to the eagerly-anticipated DSP-Z11.

    Yamaha DSP-AX759SE review

    8

Yamaha's DSP-AX759SE is a respectable surround sound amplifier that sacrifices some home cinema niceties in favour of top-notch audio quality. Its fairly basic home cinema facilities are unlikely to rival models designed as the ultimate AV hub

Yamaha's history in loudspeakers includes some notable successes, from the legendary NS1000 models of the 1970s to the highly successful NS10M near-field studio monitor of the 1980s and 1990s, so there's plenty of precedent for the new Soavos

It may look like yet another mid-priced AV receiver, but behind the RX-N600D's familiar titanium coloured fascia is a story of AV-IT convergence. Okay, the USB port on the front is a bit of a giveaway - this is Yamaha's first Network AV receiver.
