Planning to get a brand new Apple MacBook or a Windows laptop? The techradar laptop deals of the week page is where you will find both of these and much more. We've identified, curated, narrowed down and brought together the best laptop offers of the land.
Less than 100 hours to go before Black Friday, arguably the most important shopping day for retailers outside Christmas and for laptop vendors, the one to watch. The past few days have seen Microsoft celebrating two important milestones: the 30th anniversary of Windows (the first issue sold 500,000 copies) and the 25th anniversary of Office for Windows.
If you want to get your fix of the best laptop deals, don't worry. Even over Christmas and the New Year period, we will update this page to offer you the latest, freshest and most up-to-date laptop bargains of the last seven days (give or take a few hours); we're sure we're the only mainstream technology website in the UK to do so.
We rotate our laptop deals to offer you a more diverse offering and you will find our laptop deals archives simply by browsing to the next pages. Just bear in mind that stocks vary and prices can go up or down since the deals were posted.
If we have missed out on a particularly attractive deal or if you have found a better one or there is a misprice, feel free to leave a note in the comments section and we'll include it in our deal with a "thank you" note to the contributor.
1. techradar's laptop deal of the week
- Laptop: Lenovo E50-70
- Price: £259.97 at Saveonlaptops
After all the bells and whistles we have had over the past few weeks with laptops designed to dazzle you, we're back to basics. If you are after a solid laptop on a budget, then you can't really go wrong with the Lenovo E50-70. It costs less than £260 but has a couple of features found on much more expensive laptops. Businesses will appreciate the integrated fingerprint readers while power users will love the 128GB SSD, which in our view, is preferable to larger but slower hard disk drives. The rest of the configuration is pretty solid as well: an Intel Core i3-4030U, 4GB of RAM, a DVD writer, a 15.6-inch HD display, an integrated numeric keypad and Windows 10 as well.
If you want something a bit more powerful than the above, then check out the HP Elitebook 745, which has the same amount of memory and storage but sports an AMD A6 Pro-7050B APU instead. It costs about £100 more than the above but comes with some worthy improvements. The screen, for example, is a 14-inch HD+ display. You also get the option to swap the OS onboard (Windows 8.1) for Windows 7 Pro or Windows 10 Pro. Perhaps more importantly for businesses who might be interested in the product, it offers a three-year warranty compared to just 12-months for most competitors in this price range as well as a fingerprint reader and a TPM module.
2. Chromebook/Netbook deal of the week
- Laptop: Asus C100PA
- Price: £249.99 at PC World
A touchscreen Chromebook was never meant to happen given Google's stand on Android and Chrome OS. However, things have changed and the Asus C100PA is one of a number of touch-capable Chromebook. This particular model runs a Rockchip RK3288C system-on-chip with 4GB of RAM and 16GB onboard storage. Its touchscreen display is a 1280x800-pixel, 10.1-inch model which is kind-of a surprise on a device that costs nearly £250. Its 2-cell battery will power it for nearly nine hours according to Asus and like a few laptops out there, you will be able to flip it completely to convert it into a pseudo-tablet.
The Asus Transformer Book T100TAF is a regular guest on our best-of listicles and for the next 12 hours will sell for £149.99 as part of Amazon's deal of the day. It features roughly the same configuration as the above except for the fact that it runs Windows 8.1 rather than Windows 10 and has a 1366x768-pixel resolution rather than HD. Its keyboard also comes with a full sized USB port and the whole device will for nearly 11 hours according to Asus. Oh and as a freebie, you should get a free copy of Office 365 Personal and Windows 10 upgrade.
3. Gaming laptop deal of the week
- Laptop: MSI GT80S
- Price: £3989.89 at Overclockers
If you've got access to unlimited funds and don't mind spending thousands on a gaming rig that will last you for a couple of years, then check out the MSI GT80S, the world's most powerful gaming laptop currently available on preorder at Overclockers for just under £4000. Yes, £4000. You do get an outrageously fast PC though with a Skylake-based Core i7 processor, 32GB of RAM, four SSD in RAID-0 with a secondary 1TB drive, an 18.4-inch FHD display and, the cherry on that massive cake, a pair of Nvidia GeForce GTX 980 desktop edition in SLI with 8GB GDDR5 memory. No these are not 980M models but true desktop GPUs. It is a heavy beast though and its battery life, even with an 8-cell battery is likely to be very, very short.
If you want the cheapest GTX 960M laptop currently on the market, then look no further than the PC Specialist Optimus VII which features speakers from Onkyo, a fingerprint scanner for enhanced privacy and a Geforce GTX 960M with 2GB GDDR5 memory. The other components are not too shabby as well; between the Intel Core i5 6300HQ processor (a Skylake Model), 8GB of RAM, a 240GB SSD, both from Kingston, the full HD IPS display and a backlit keyboard, you could have done a lot, lot worse for the outlay, just £727. Other noteworthy features include four USB 3.0 ports as standards, a 6-cell battery and even a DisplayPort connector.
4. Ultrabook deal of the week
- Laptop: Asus Zenbook UX305
- Price: £499 at PC World
We can't get enough of the outstanding Asus Zenbook UX305. John Lewis no longer sells it but Currys/PC World still has it in black or white for £499 although you do lose the additional 12-month warranty that JL bundles with all its electronic products. The UX305 is as small as a MacBook Air but easily beats the latter when it comes to sheer value for money. There's an Intel Core M-5Y10 processor, 8GB of RAM, a 128GB SSD, a full HD display (non-touch type) and three USB 3.0 ports, a Bang and Olufsen ICEPower sound system, a battery that can power the laptop for up to seven hours, all in a chassis that's a mere 12mm thick with the laptop weighing a shade over 1.2Kg.
As expected the HP Envy X2, which was released less than nine months ago, is already being cleared. PC World sells it for a rather impressive £449.97. This is a well-specced convertible device which features the same amount of onboard storage and the same processor as the Zenbook UX305 above. It does however have only half the system memory and fewer connectors. However, this is a tablet with a detachable backlit keyboard which means that it has a massive touchscreen display (13.3-inch with a FHD resolution) and music neophytes will love the fact that it has two front-facing speakers as well, courtesy of Beats Audio.
5. 2-in-1 hybrid deal of the week
- Laptop: Linx 1010B
- Price: £139.99 at Currys
A budget laptop that transforms into a tablet in a matter of seconds? Meet the Linx 1010B, a £140 device that comes with a free keyboard (you need to claim that one) and is powered by Windows 10. Unlike previous generations, it also features 2GB of RAM although the rest of the specification remains the same as its forefather: a quad-core Intel Atom Z3735F processor, a 10.1-inch display with a 1280x800 pixel resolution, 32GB storage, Bluetooth, card reader, micro USB and micro HDMI and up to seven-hour battery life. Unlike some of its competitors, the Linx keyboard appears to have some proper keys with a touchpad with a decent surface area.
The new version of the T100 (which we featured above) is already on sale at John Lewis. The Transformer Book T100HA costs only £249.95 and, as its name alludes to, is a full convertible with a detachable keyboard. Its key features include a new Cherry Trail Atom processor from Intel, 2GB of RAM, a USB Type-C connector and 64GB onboard storage. Asus claims that you will be able to run a full 12 hours with a single charge. The display is a 10.1-inch 1366x768-pixel one and the tablet comes with two cameras including a 5-megapixel rear one. As expected, John Lewis doubles the manufacturer's warranty to two years.
6. Apple deal of the week
- Laptop: Apple MacBook 2015
- Price: £899.99 from eBay
This is a thing of beauty; we're referring to the Apple Macbook, the 2015 model, launched just a few months ago. This is undoubtedly one of the most exquisitely designed pieces of technology of the last decade. It has a Retina display (12-inch, 2304x1440-pixel resolution), is just over 13mm thick and weighs just under 1Kg. This particular model comes with an Intel Core M processor, 8GB of RAM and a 256GB SSD. Three things to bear in mind though; that model is £150 cheaper on eBay but will almost certainly come with a US keyboard. Only the gold colour is available and remember that that laptop has one USB Type C port only.
The MacBook Pro (MJLT2B) is the most powerful laptop Apple has to offer. And at £2100 from popular eBay retailer, Electronic King, it represents a not-so-negligible £500 saving with the only difference likely to be the keyboard (a US one rather than a UK model). For the rest, you get a fast Intel Core i7 quad-core processor, 16GB system memory, a massive 1TB SSD, a 15.4-inch Retina display (that's a 2880x1880-pixels resolution), an AMD Radeon R9 M370X with 2GB GDDR5 memory, and up to nine-hours battery life. As expected you also get a software bundle and a number of connectors including Thunderbolt 2.
