What's the best way to enjoy a truly big screen cinema experience at home - splash out on this affordable 720p HD projector

It looks like this mid-range EH-TW6000W LCD projector has the smackdown on the pricier TW9000W.

As close to a perfect LCD projector as we've seen, but the input lag sadly makes it a no-no for really big screen gaming.

Do all 720p projectors fall into the false-economy category compared to more expensive 1080p models? And if not, how does it compare with others in the 720p class?

The question here is whether a specialist projector outfit like Optoma has the edge or whether the clout of bigger, more generalist brands makes for a better beamer.

With 1080p projectors available for £600 or less, you might think the case for saving money on a 720p model like the NEC V300W is pretty marginal. So can this 720p projector from NEC compete?

Lies. Damned lies. And projector specifications. For proof, look no further than the fact that the Epson EH-TW5900's claimed contrast ratio is poorer than its cheaper TW3200 sibling.

LCD is for data, DLP for movies. It's that simple. At least it used to be. This entry-level 1080p model from Epson has a few multimedia chops that are unrecognisable from LCD projectors of just a few years ago.
