OCZ Vertex 128GB SSD scored:
8.0 out of 10
The main reason I bought an SSD is to lower the heat produced by my unibody MacBook Pro. I recently downgraded from a 7200 rpm to 5400 rpm drive and the difference was noticeable. And now, with the SSD it runs even cooler! The main CPU temp has gone from an average of 75-80C down to 50-60C with normal operation. I am running a virtual machine with FreeBSD, Photoshop and a dozen other apps at the same time and it stays cool. By the way, I gave it a 5 out of 10 for design because the design really isn't relevant to a piece of internal hardware.
EVERY SSD slows down performance-wise after a while. So I can't really fault this one in particular. I haven't noticed a drop in speed yet. The speed at which apps open (Photoshop in less than 2 seconds) makes for an enjoyable work day. Obviously, you don't spend all day opening and closing apps, but it's a good benchmark.
