Aimed more at servers than gamers, Intel's first foray into SSDs with the Intel X25-M is nevertheless about the most desirable performance component outside of a 4870x2.
Nearly £500 for a mere 80GB is like removing a kidney in exchange for kissing Anne Hathaway for seven seconds, but y'know – it's still kissing Anne Hathaway.
The read times are the star of the show here, mustering 220MB/s in the synthetic test and loading a TF2 map in just 23 seconds.
In real-world terms though it's not that far ahead of the Patriot Warp, and in fact it's slightly slower to write.
The speeds are admirably sustained, however, demonstrating none of the random spikes and slowdowns of its SSD peers, making for the most reliable solid-stater on the market. Oh, for a lower price on this little beauty.
