A budget IPS monitor with a 1080p resolution. Can the 27-inch Viewsonic cut it at the budget end of the market?

Can this new budget IPS monitor from Viewsonic compete in an already fierce and crowded market?

A 22-inch touch-capable PC monitor with full Android tablet functionality throw in for fun? That's the new Viewsonic VSD220.

Any 24-inch monitor for under £150 was considered a bona fide barrel scraper not that long ago. But things change and this ViewSonic screen is pitched against some relatively stiff competition.

The floodgates have opened for cheap IPS technology, and the screens keep on flowing. This new ViewSonic is one of the best.

Affordable IPS panels are becoming more common, but this ViewSonic is still something special.

The ViewSonic VX2753mh-LED is a great choice if you're looking for size on a budget

Full adjustment and VESA compatibility make this a flexible 24-inch monitor

The world's first 1ms monitor? Meh…

A pleasing screen with sharp image quality, now at an even better price point

Viewsonic offers an affordable 24" monitor but as always, there's a catch

The first affordable monitor to be powered by an LED backlight

ViewSonic has built its PJ551D around a 0.55-inch DLP chip that offers the same native resolution of 1024 x 768 pixels as the other projectors in this group. It lets the side down slightly as the maximum resolution can only be stretched to 1280 x 1024 pixels, rather than the widescreen 1400 x 1050 pixels that is offered by the more versatile Acer and Optoma projectors.

Of all the features to be impressed by, an exceptionally smooth rotation mechanism doesn’t, perhaps, rank very highly in terms of excitement. However, the ease with which the ViewSonic’s stand swivelled the screen around was worthy of note. In fact, the whole unit has a real feel of quality to it.

The Viewsonic VX2255wmb is a 22-inch display with a 1680 x 1050-pixel resolution and a choice of VGA and DVI-D inputs. The 1.3-Megapixel webcam in the top bezel is similar to those found in some of its rivals, but after some hunting around we found a feature that makes the Viewsonic stand out.

Viewsonic sent us its PJ758, which is typically the sort of data projector that you install in a meeting room or lecture hall, as it is rather too large and heavy to carry around. The 3.5kg chassis is large, but it also manages to host the widest array of ports of any machine here.

For a mighty 26-inch widescreen monitor, ViewSonic's latest is deceptively sleek and immaculate in piano black. It's big on connections, too, with Composite, Component and S-Video inputs, and an HDMI port for hooking up life's luxuries

Get a typical 20in widescreen monitor and you'll probably be disappointed with the lack of display height. The answer is to upgrade to a 24in widescreen model and, along with a wonderfully wide panel, you'll get about an inch more in height.

Last month we turned our attention to a pair of portable projectors, and declared one of them 'eminently luggable'. While we would still be happy to sling that model around our necks, we'd be far more inclined to take this one on the road.

We've seen iPod alarm clocks, armbands and hi-fis with docks, but this is the first LCD product that boasts integration with the Apple player's video capabilities. Promises, promises

It's one thing paying a premium price for an Apple product. But are you ready to take it one step further and pay extra for a monitor with integrated iPod support? That's what Viewsonic is betting on with this

Widescreen monitors aren't just for the exciting things in life, such as watching films on. Multi-tasking with office programs becomes almost a joy, as you flit between spreadsheets, word processor documents and more besides

Viewsonic's VG2021WM makes no attempt to appear sleek and slender and instead takes the function-over-form approach. The 20.1-inch screen is fairly large, but the lower bezel that houses a pair of rather weak two-watt speakers is fully 90mm tall
