Acer's first Sandy Bridge portable is a value performance marvel

Amazing build quality and battery life for a bargain price

A decent, but ultimately unremarkable, desktop replacement machine

A bright, vibrant screen and strong usability can't mask the weak performance

A graphically capable and highly usable mini machine, plagued by a terrible battery

Despite Acer's impressive record, faults such as a poor screen flaw this laptop

A powerful and feature-packed entertainment laptop at a great price

Impressive design and usability, but average performance and portability

A well-constructed, highly portable consumer laptop but it sadly fails to excite

Despite the rise of tablet devices, the netbook market still charges on. The Acer Aspire One D255-N55QDrr (£286 inc. VAT) is one of the latest and, with manufacturers looking to set their products apart from the rest, runs the smartphone-centric Android (2.1) operating system (OS), as well as Windows 7.

An affordable 3D Vision laptop, but it's clear the technology is still in its infancy

Great usability and battery life make this netbook one of the best available

Incredible power and Optimus graphical performance from this updated mid-priced laptop

A laptop that's hard to fault - a fantastic choice for the first-time buyer

While Acer has yet to become a high-street name in the UK, the Taiwanese manufacturer currently sits atop the European PC market, fending off strong competition from the likes of Dell and HP. Offering a range of high-quality laptops at all price points, the Acer Aspire Ethos 8943G is its flagship high-end media centre and combines stunning design quality, cutting-edge performance and high-definition compatibility, making it ideal for the whole family.

The Acer Aspire One 532 has just been updated, and the result is the Acer Aspire One 533. Quite a lot of the Aspire One 533 is borrowed from the 532, with a couple of additions or tweaks that build on a solid and likeable foundation.

A highly portable laptop boasting a fantastic battery life

The most affordable 3D laptop you can buy, but usability can be a real headache

Impressive build quality and battery life, backed by equally strong performance

We get our hands on the full production model of Acer's feature packed multimedia laptop

A mid-priced laptop with excellent all-round quality and few faults

A solidly built and highly usable AMD powered quad-core laptop

A widescreen laptop at a sensible price

Despite older components, this is a great option with an impressive features list

A budget laptop with subdued performance, but a strong build and excellent features
