Controls are quick and intuitive, and even the most cunning features work intuitively and effectively
The F50fd's Fujinon lens only offers a 3x optical zoom range but proved to have spectacular edge-to-edge sharpness
There's a good selection of Scene modes, any two of which can be assigned to the main mode dial for quick access
Natural Light mode enhances images in low light, gives accurate auto WB and image stabilisation, avoiding flash reliance.
The Chrome colour mode isn't overstated, as with some older FinePix cameras, and produces vibrant yet natural-looking colour enhancement
Attention to fine detail is slackened in Portrait Enhancer mode - expect smoother skin and beautified flesh tones.
