Plasma pioneer Fujitsu is the brand of choice for most of the custom install industry. By positioning itself away from the hurly-burly of most TV high-street action, it's managed to protect itself from the chaos of falling prices. But a consequence is that it's probably not the first brand most of us think of when we think PDP - a shame, as Fujitsu has produced some very nice displays over the years.

What's in a letter? The lower case letter at the end of this CI-friendly 50in plasma screen may look insignificant, but it packs one hell of a punch. It signifies that this Fujitsu TV has been tweaked for greatness - a quality that the P50XHA58EBb has in spades.

Fujitsu has carved itself a unique niche in the bigscreen plasma market. By targeting specialist installers and the custom install trade with highly-tuneable monitors, it has avoided much of the market volatility that has destabilised rival PDP brands like Hitachi and Pioneer.

It's a tough world in TV land right now, and you need to adapt to survive. Cue Fujitsu taking the relatively unusual step of revisiting one of its existing plasma models, the P50XHA58EB, and adding an extra little 'b' on the end to signify that it's been through the tweaking machine.

Aside from looking pretty in its piano black bezel, the P50XHA58EB doesn't make the greatest first impression. For starters, there's the rather scary £3,300 emblazoned across its price ticket. You don't even get built-in speakers!

While many big TVs aren't shy about their design choices, Fujitsu's 63in P63XHA51ES has plenty of design subtlety. Fujitsu's argument is if you've already got a 63in screen to accommodate, you don't want it to contrast with your living room décor

As LCD technology reaches ever larger sizes, plasma screens are looking to stay ahead of the game by pushing their size boundaries even further. The P63XHA51ES certainly doesn't look as smart in its rather bland minimalist, silvery finish

Strictly speaking the P50XHA58EB is a plasma monitor, not a television. This is down to the fact that it lacking a tuner - analogue or digital. This means this Fujitsu won't be suitable for some home users

Fujitsu is a serious producer of home cinema screens and that's what this 42in plasma is, down to its £2,700 price. The omission of both a Scart and tuner of either analogue or digital variety are an indication of the snob appeal of this screen

This marvellous HD-ready looker may alienate some for two major reasons - the high price tag of £2,695 and its lack of a tuner. But if you're planning setting yourself up with a dedicated home viewing room then you've come to the right manufacturer

Never afraid to do its own thing, Fujitsu has forged its own path once more by positioning its latest plasma as a custom installation device. As such, it has no TV tuner or Scarts, as Fujitsu expects anyone buying one will use mainly a high-def source...

Fujitsu has carved out an impressive position in the custom install field, and the company's 50-series HD Ready plasma screen range has recently seen two additions; a 42-inch, the P42XHA58EB, and the 50-inch P50XHA58EB you're looking at here

This gigantic screen really is the last word in high definition plasma screen luxury. We say screen rather than TV as this Fujitsu doesn't have a built-in digital tuner, but if you're going to spend a cool £9,000 on a display, you're unlikely to need one

There comes a time in every serious home cinephile's life when they start to feel that their TV just isn't big enough. And sometimes those home cinephiles happen to be well-heeled enough to consider spending the best part of £10k on a new one

After seemingly years of moaning at Fujitsu for making its plasma screens too expensive, someone at the Japanese giant seems to have listened to us. For the company's latest 42in plasma TV, the P42HTA51ES, is a really very affordable £1,995.

This hefty price tag takes us back a few years to when all 42in plasma TVs - invented by Fujitsu, incidentally - cost this much. This 63in example, the second largest on the planet, isn't a TV as it lacks a digital or an analogue tuner.
