Akai has been out of the limelight for a while, but in the past it impressed us with a 30in LCD that cost round just £800. The brand is clearly trying to repeat its budget success with the 42in PD-P42VIT which looks a snip at just over £1,000.

With Viewsonic having wowed us recently with its über-cheap 27in LCD, it's with interest that we unwrap this 30in LCD from Akai, a Japanese company that is making a comeback in the UK AV world
