Microsoft's latest OS, Windows 7, has started to arrive early in the UK, with customers who pre-ordered the software reporting that they already have their copy.
Although Windows 7's release date is officially 22 October, CNET UK is reporting that it has been contacted by a number of people who have been given the software early.
The reason for this seems to be because of a proposed postal strike which is set to take place in the UK on 22 October, which has prompted Microsoft to ship its long-awaited OS before its allotted release date.
Netbook mark-up
In other Windows 7 news, Engadget is stating that Windows 7 Starter edition seems to be the default operating system if you are purchasing a netbook.
Buying a Windows 7 equipped netbook, however, does seem to come at a price, with some sites asking up to $50 premium, in Canada at least, to install the system – a mark-up which is significantly more than the license, notes the site.
Be sure to check out Windows 7 Week on TechRadar, where we will be counting down to the official date of the software's launch with exclusive features and news.

7. Took 6 hours or more as an upgrade on my vista laptop, which is horrendous. Had to remove Kaspersky and my fingerprint recognition, then install a differenet antivirus programme.
Thereafter IE8 would not open, my TV programme would not open, and Windows 7 would not print the homegroup settings. It is an error that has been around since RC1).
So today I installed the 64 bit version instead, as a clean install, and it took about an hour. But I have to install all my programmes again.
