Concerns are beginning to grow about reports of a bug in the Snow Leopard Operating System for Macs that could see users lose all their data.
iTWire and Neowin have run reports documenting the problem which has surfaced in the Apple Support Forums and is seemingly causing some major headaches.
Apparently, when users log into their machines as a guest, they can find their data has irretrievably gone when they log back into their proper accounts.
No response
This is obviously a major problem, although Apple has yet to respond either to its customers or through its usual mechanisms.
The suggestion at the moment is that users disable the guest account, just to be on the safe side.
TechRadar will, of course, keep an eye on the situation and bring any further information that we can gather.

2. What we need to remember is that this affects only people using the Guest account feature and even then, only a small number of those. This is not to minimize the horror of having your data disappear. I wonder if that might be why Apple has made Time Machine so easy?
Compared to Windows bugs that normally affect a much larger percentage of users and expose them to huge amounts of Malware, this is noteworthy only because this type of thing is so rare in Apple software.

1. I had a different problem a few weeks ago. I turned on my Macbook pro and the trackpad and keyboard weren't working. I plugged in an external mouse and keyboard. The mouse worked but the keyboard didn't. Everything was terribly slow.
In the end I had to re-install from my backup drive.
The moral of the story? Back your **** up no matter what OS you're using.
