TechRadar reveals the 10 best mobile phones available in the world today. This article is updated regularly.

Whichever way you look at it, the biggest technology story of the '00s was the rise to power of the mobile phone.
The mighty HDTV may have something to say about that, but the stats don't lie - nothing attracts google searches or inspires tweets on twitter like a new Apple iPhone or the latest HTC Android handset.
The future
And while the last decade started with the Nokia 3210 and its monophonic ringtone-composing stablemates, the '10s have already begun with news of the much-fabled Google phone – the Nexus One – as well as the promise of a new iPhone and a raft of Android-powered handsets and 3G netbooks.
The phone industry is now so humungous it's worth over $24bn in India alone. Some stats suggest that the global mobile industry will be worth $200bn by 2012 – that's $33 for every human being on the planet.
And what's driving this recession-beating performance? It's the technology, stupid!
So here we have our continually updated list of the 10 best mobile phones of the current crop, in reverse order, ending with what we consider to be the best mobile phone on the planet...

27. @roggit: i think the reason Hero beats Nexus isnt because of spec but because of the user experiance. the Sense UI is more involving. although techradar say they are reserving their full opinion 'til theyve done a thorough review first...

26. HTC Hero is a well deserved top spot. Nexus one should be 2nd in my opinion.
Im very surprised an (unjailbroken) iphone is still at number 2 - there are better phones in this list. i totally agree with "bunjiweb" below. (although a jailbroken iphone with proswitcher and other neat programs is really good though).
The sense UI is amazing. You basically get android and then some! So smooth, intuitive and integrated. The only gripe i have is that the Hero can sometimes slow down due to the multitasking. Despite that flaw, the merits for it far out weigh it. I cant wait til the 1GHz HTC with android comes out! (ive forgotten the name. "Dragon"?).

25. The Hero easily beats the iPhone 14PGS+ with credit-card maxer store feature. I had the chance to buy either and I got the Hero strictly on merit. The only downside is that the stock Hero battery lasts one day under normal usage. These reviewers are crack-smokers anyways...no consideration of specs, features, or real-life drawbacks (such as the Hero battery issue)...just a bunch of unfounded hokey verbage and randomly assigned rankings!

24. Nexus One should be top spot if you asked me. I've owned Hero and iPhone 3GS and neither compare to the Nexus One in my opinion. Can't see what the Hero has that the Nexus doesn't apart from the "designer chin"!

23. Hero is a better phone than the Nexus One? wtf? Have you guys even compared the specs? http://www.gsmarena.com/compare.php3?idPhone1=2861&idPhone2=3069#results
3.7" AMOLED vs 3.2" TFT with 65k colours. 1ghz vs 528mhz. 512MB RAM vs 288MB. 14mm vs 11.5 thickness. The hero camera doesn't have flash. Plus, the nexus one has a better version of android. It's not even close.
You might call the hero more SIGNIFICANT than the nexus one, but it CERTAINLY isn't better.
