RichardSolo 1800 makes UK debut

iPhone charger with a laser AND a torch on its head

RichardSolo 1800

The RichardSolo 1800 has arrived in Britain, giving people the option to not only have a charge and a half battery backup for their juice-hungry iPhone, but also use it as a torch or laser pointer.

With the iPhone being such a hungry blighter in the charge stakes, the need for a battery backup is fairly obvious, especially because you can't just buy a second battery pack.

But the RichardSolo is not the first example to market, but it is a solid, well-designed, but not cheap effort brought in by USA Best.

Laser

One of the neater touches means that the iPhone is charged first and then the battery if both are plugged into a power source, and the RichardSolo also carries a charge and half for the iPhone/iPod touch.

For those with a light fetish, there are also laser pointer and torch buttons.

Coming with a neatly retractable cable and both a plug and car charger adaptor, the RichardSolo is available now and retails at a not inconsiderable £69.99.

3. I also tried for a while to get hold of one, however once you allow for shipping, import duty and VAT the price is actually lower in the UK.

So I took the plunge and ordered from usabest.co.uk, arrived next day and I am no longer without juice!

Guess who's the happiest, me or tyranter?!

2. Just to redress the balance re the previous slightly misinformed comment.....

At the time of writing this response the exchange rate stands at $1.37 for each pound (source wwww.xe.com) and, I might add, you wouldn't get that rate on your debit or credit card I'm sorry to say. So, based on 1.37 that means a RichardSolo battery in the US currently costs £51.06 before you even think about "silly postage charges". Finally, when bringing the product into the UK let's not forget duty and VAT. So cost + postage + VAT & Duty adds up to a lot more than £50(!)

Also it's worthy of note that the US site specifically states that they do not supply to our and several other regions.

I hope any readers of my post will consider this a reasonable and considered response.
