Those rumours of the iPod touch have taken a turn towards reality after photos of the new devices, complete with cases to protect their new snapper, were leaked.
Photos from CultofMac.com show both the iPod touch and the iPod nano picking up the snapper, with the sensor bizarrely placed in the centre for the touch (where it's on the left for the iPhone).

We reported recently about Apple buying up gazillions of these sensors, around the levels expected for the iPod ranges mentioned.
Camera never lies
But now we've got the pictures to prove it, and (providing they're real) it seems the media players will now have that little bit more functionality.
Of course, we have no idea what plans Apple has with these photography options, although of course there isn't a flash by the look of the photos (well, if it's ain't good enough for the iPhone...).
We'd love to know when these new versions are coming - but we wouldn't bet against the new functionality raising the price of the devices when they debut.

4. @ dee.
They will start off giving you a 2 mega pixel camera on the old models, knowing that the "Look at me" fanboys will clamor to get them at a premium. Then they will release a new model at their current "best" resolution, 3 mega pixels, again, knowing the fanboys wont dissapoint.
What I want to know is this, Apple's reason for not giving us a higher resolution than 3 mega pixels on the new iphone is a size issue. They can't get anything better, small enough to fit in the phone. A problem samsung, nokia et al haven't come across. How are they going to get one in nano? Unless they've been bull****ing us all along. Apple wouldn't do that to their loyal fan base, would they???

3. Why put cameras on old models. Why not roll out a completely new model?

2. Have to say the pics look totally fake to me, although cameras are definately on their way to ipods, these don't look like realistic production photos.

1. The iPod touch appears to be a first gen version that's never been updated, going by the software loaded on it. That definitely didn't have a camera.
