After the iPhone launch was beset with stock shortages and computer malfunctions, O2 must have been hoping that was the end of its problems.
However, reports have been coming in of problems with accessing 3G networks, which is precisely the feature a number of people queued up for hours to upgrade their handsets for.
Problems
TechRadar spoke to O2 customer services, which confirmed there was a problem and it was affecting several users.
"There have been a considerable number of people who have been unable to access 3G and The Cloud WiFi hotspots," it confirmed.
"There has been a problem activating their accounts."
We haven't been able to find out why this problem is happening, or when it will be fixed, but TechRadar has contacted O2 and a response will be winging its way here soon.

4. queued like others to be the proud owner of an iPhone. I spend 4 days trying to get it activated. I had numerous calls into O2 customer service, I got transfered to Apple, I got another SIM card, I visited the store 3 times- no joy.
I have a faulty iPhone, along with many others when you look on internet. I get a SIM card error stating that a valid and unlocked SIM card needs to be installed. It is both valid and unlocked as I checked it with another handset.
Unfortunately o2 have no stock- so now I have an expensive door stop, no idea when replacement handsets will be in store- and O2 say iPhones will be on a first come, first served basis- despite me being a new customer to O2! Appauling customer service.

3. It would be interesting to see why users are having problems accessing 3G. I hope it is something other than the network not being able to handle the load or the design of the phone (e.g. the phone having a poor quality antenna built in). If it is either of these then O2/Apple would have a lot to answer for. The idea is that before you release a phone you have to put it through vigorous tests to make sure it works, so that when the user buys the phone then they would have minimal problems.

2. Mine's not been connected to 3g at all- Had it sat next to one the other day that WAS connected so it's obviously not working. I hope they make sure that they compensate us for standing in that flipping queue and then getting a gimped phone. Genius...

1. I was certainly having trouble connecting to 3G, but I have managed to connect now. It does seem to be a fairly weak signal though, not sure if that is a problem on O2's part or if I am just in an area with a weak 3G signal.
