2. To an extent you guys are completely right; I've been playing Final Fantasy for years and without the soundtrack the game just wouldn't be what it is today. Having said that though, I'm really looking forward to being able to play music on the go. I'm sure I'm not the only one but I play Pro Evo with music in the background and games like Madden and Burnout, yeah they got some great songs but when you have the option of personal choice, who cares?
Full blown RPG, FPS (3rd PS), RTS, etc. the soundtracks are almost required to make the game great but simple pick-up and play, sport games, that's where I see this coming into full effect.
1. Yeah, I agree with the last bit - but only to the extent that the soundtracks for GTA games are SO well put together that it would be a genuine shame to spoil them by trying to make your own... If all games' soundtracks were anywhere near as good and had as much thought put into them as the GTA soundtracks do, then there wouldn't be a need for personalised sountracks... but until that day...
