4. "DVI-to-normal-monitor-cable adaptor"?? Is that the technical term for VGA, then?

3. Steve you have learned nothing.

That is a joke of a setup and not worthy to be called an ultimate gaming rig.

Readers! don't combine an high end mobo, extreme quad and crappy 3870X2 with a god awful budget 19" wide screen AND pay more than a grand for the privilege.

Why the video card choice is rubbish:

Being previous generation it lacks shader grunt and will be left for dead by CHEAPER up to date cards as the 4870 and GTX260.

Both those cards cost less than £200 and will hit between 30 and 90 fps at 1980 x 1200 at high settings in even the most demanding games.

Why the CPU choice is wrong.

Ditch the Extreme for a highly overclockable Q6600 and save a packet then opt chose a more mainstream mobo for around £120.

Even A lowly P5K standard will easily push one of those to 3Ghz.

Don't buy a cheap skate screen for a high end box. Spending 1.4k on a sys and £100 of on a monitor? I think not. Buy a 22" for not much more money, get better colors and a better back light.

Power supply? Think bigger. You're next upgrade might be SLI and this system can't handle it at that wattage.

1. could of halved the spend on the processor and got the sam performance, Iwoulda invested that back into a bigger power supply and case but otherwise quite economical.
