8. Just checked and it looks like blocking and group chat will be on the way soon, which probably means I'll be using this quite a lot in the future. I like to keep my MSN/AIM/Skype contacts pretty work-focussed, so it will be nice to have another 'random' IM to use purely for fun and frivolities.
6. Oh come on you bunch of no-funs! It's bloody brilliant and you know it. Though it would be improved massively if they added a basic block function and a group chat function (unless I've missing those somewhere, can't see them...)
5. I don't think it's that addictive, I ignore most of the people on my MSN list these days unless I've got something specific to say (as do they me - how many inane bored-at-work / revising chats can you have) so I'm guessing it'll be the same with this. Plus Facebook's pretty boring these days anyway, I don't think instant messaging will change that - not for me anyway. Saying that I expect it will revive interest for some
4. Well, I suppose they had to do SOMETHING to keep those of us stuck in desk jobs logged in all day, so that they can relentlessly zap us with their targeted-ads while we waste our employers time and money exchanging mindless banter with friends.
2. More evidence that Facebook is turning its back on all the qualities that made it so successful in the first place. This kind of dumbing down is very annoying and becoming ever-more common on the big sites... the inevitability of further "improvements" is depressing.
1. I'm already seeing a bit of a backlash with this, the problem is that Facebook for most people is enough of a guilty pleasure without being tempted to stay on it all day chatting to people, plus I've always kept my MSN list to a minimum, whereas on Facebook I've always got at least 20 people online, I can see this getting messy!

12. Actually, if you set it offline, it seems to stay that way - well that's my initial observation anyway.

11. It actually put me off of going to Facebook as you can't have Offline set as default.

7. Come on Zoyd - it's a complete waste of time. Proper IM not grown up enough for you?
