Apple desktops are never going to move beyond the current market of designers, musicians, photo/video boffins and general show-offs unless they start to price them somewhere near 'real world' prices.

2. That seems like a lot of money for a fairly low spec piece of kit. It's like paying for a designer handbag I suppose - still just a bag but it's a bit shinier and you can pretend you're cool.
1. £800 equals $1600 - how does Apple justify this? Oh don't tell me, that old 'shipping, taxes etc.' line we poor saps in rip-off Britain get fed by every other unscrupulous tech merchants...

9. @zoyd. You can;t still be surprised at rip-off Britain. Apple is among the worst for using the hoary old excuses as to the price difference.
No doubt the rent on its Regents Street shop drives up prices as well.

6. Get over yourselves! The 20-inch iMac is £949 - making it £251 cheaper than the Dell XPS One RED, which has similar spec.
