LG is shipping its first LED LCD TVs with THX certification.

The LH90 series come in 42-, 47- and 55-inch sizes and will initially be available only in the US, although an unconfirmed Autumn launch in the UK seems likely.

Part of a wider LED screen initiative from the SKorean brand, the new LG models have full-array LED backlighting, 240Hz TruMotion picture processing and promise a 2,000,000:1 contrast ratio.

As with LG's THX plasma screens, the models offer a one-touch THX preset which automatically optimises colour, black level and other picture settings for movie watching. Connections include four HDMI v1.3 inputs with Deep Color, two HD component video inputs, USB 2.0 and PC D-sub.

LG US's senior vice president for marketing and strategy, Peter Reiner, says the sets 'send a clear message to consumers about LG's commitment to picture quality and innovation.'
