We've been talking about CES 2007 as long as I can remember. Well, since around last May anyway. It was always going to be the time when we properly took the wraps off Tech.co.uk and let it breathe with a host of stories about the latest and greatest kit.
As it's worked out the site is less finished than we wanted it to be, but this wasn't going to stop us reporting on some great kit at CES. What did that, was what we saw at CES itself.
And the key word for that was 'underwhelming'. In the end, the show dredged up some well-worn themes and iterations of hardware that, in truth, was already around. The keynotes were poor and devoid of interest, the more heralded launches were limp. About the only genuninely clever thing we saw was Belkin's TuneStudio enabling bands to mix their music directly onto an iPod.
And then there was what happened at Macworld. I won't dwell on the contrast between CES and Macworld, because what happened in a couple of hours there so clearly knocked the tech world for six.
Yet I've picked out some of my key observations/themes from this year's event in my next post. After all, despite my reservations about this year's event, CES remains the most important event in the CE calendar.
I'll also be sharing some pictures and Las Vegas experiences with you over the coming week.
