The Nokia 5730 XpressMusic is loaded up with a typical Nokia's S60 browser. Running on HSDPA (up to 3.6Mbps) or Wi-Fi high-speed data connectivity, the browser is swift at downloading pages, whether you're out and about or using your home Wi-Fi hub.

Getting around pages and clicking on links is easy enough; a Mini Map view superimposed over the page provides an overview to help you get around, while the volume keys on the side of the phone can be used for quick zooming in and out.

However, while it renders full web pages efficiently, and has Flash Lite support, the typical S60 user interface isn't as slick or versatile as many touchscreen handsets around, and is starting to feel in need of a major revamp.

browser

The default way to get around this requires you to select from menu option lists for actions, such as reloading a page or saving bookmarks.

However, you can pull up a bar of four desktop-style on-screen tool icons (history, page overview, reload and page search) to make navigation easier; you can do this by long-clicking on an 'empty' bit of the webpage, or find this useful option in the browser's Tools menu.

You can save RSS web feeds, too, if you want to get updates from your favourite sites without having to navigate the browser.

brwoser

You can click on RSS feed icons to add them while browsing, or manually input details for new feeds. Bookmarks are pre-loaded for a selection of popular online services and websites, and addresses for recently browsed pages are added to the browser's opening screen.

In addition, any bookmarked webpages can be assigned as one of the phone's home screen shortcuts.

Apps for several other online services are available from the phone's Internet folder.

facebook

Icons for Facebook, Friendster, YouTube and Ovi provide fast links to their mobile optimised homepages, while others for MySpace and Hi5 also provide an option for downloading new applications for the phone to make it easier to access and manage your accounts.

A Search application on the handset also enables you to search for a term either on the phone or online.
