The LaCIE Fuel 2TB proved to be a capable wireless hard disk drive. There's not much to complain about when it comes to storage capacity or performance but ultimately it seems that the LaCie Fuel 2TB is betting on its looks to sell.

We liked

As an integrated wireless hard disk drive, the LaCie Fuel is more affordable than the rest of the competition. It offers decent battery life, a massive 2TB storage capacity and the distinctive design has an orange handle, not that you'd like to sling it often.

We disliked

The performance is rather average for a drive of this capacity, especially when compared to competitors that use exactly the same hard disk drive. Like Marmite, its design is also likely to stir some debate. Grey and square with a bright orange handle, its users will like it while others will probably loathe it.

Final verdict

The LaCie Fuel would have been a top buy if it wasn't overshadowed by its sibling, the Seagate Wireless Plus 2TB. They should in theory share the same hardware and software but somehow, the latter performs better, is smaller and lighter, can connect to more devices although it is slightly more expensive.
