We know that you shouldn’t judge a book by it’s cover, but our first impression of the PET1030 was that it looked pretty slick. The new player features a streamlined design, thanks to the fact that the power supply is now integrated into the main unit, unlike on previous models.
Compared with some so-called portable DVD players, the Philips PET 821 is very compact and amazingly light (940g), with an attractive, flip-up cover that's not too dissimilar to a Mac laptop.
Small but perfectly formed,this is surprisingly weighty for such a tiny thing. On top of this the brushed metallic finish will keep your inner magpie feeling fulfiled. Open the sturdy lid and you'll find that if you push the screen back too far...
