A good budget speaker cable that does away with insulation in favour of flexibility

    Black Rhodium Tango Bi-wire review

We’ve seen Tango in its conventional non-bi-wire form – just two conductors – but this version adds a further pair of conductors to the construction. As usual in bi-wire cables, the conductors are commoned into a single pair of plugs at the amp end, but terminate separately at the speaker. Off-the-reel costs are £30/pm.

This cable embodies a number of Black Rhodium design features, notably the use of silicone-rubber insulation and an unscreened construction with two identical conductors twisted together.

This new interconnect is marketed partly on the strength of its low 'microphonic distortion'. Microphony in cables is not a new concern, but Black Rhodium claims to have reduced it to lower levels than usual

Black Rhodium has been overhauling its lower-price ranges of late, introducing new models that bear some clear resemblances to the old but differ in various ways

    Black Rhodium Jive Biwire review

    Black Rhodium Jive Biwire review

Jive is BR's next-to-entry cable at £7 per metre, and this bi-wire version is simply four instead of two conductors inside the overall silicone rubber sheath
