The explanation he gives is the fact that the new design on the iPhone 4 was not shown to anybody, so there were no cases, which fix the problem.
Jobs adds: "When our engineers look at this data [on dropped calls], it's hard not to admit there's a problem though adds that, even with the data, he thinks this problem has been "blown way out of proportion."
Jobs then talks about iOS 4.01, and adds that "the bumper solves the signal-strength problem" and confirms that Apple is happy to give everybody a free case or, if they want one, a full refund.
Jobs reiterates that Apple thinks this problem with iPhone 4 only currently affects a small number of users. He then moves on to announcing that a white iPhone 4 will be shipping at the end of July. He also adds that Apple will bring the iPhone to 17 more countries at the end of July.
Jobs says: "We love our users. We try hard to surprise and delight them. We work our asses off and have a fun time doing it."
Footfall figures for Apple stores

"We do all this because we love our users. And when we fall short, we try harder. We pick ourselves up, and we figure out what's wrong, and we try harder.
"When people are criticizing us, we take it really personally...maybe we should have a wall of PR people protecting us from that, but we don't," Jobs says. "Smartphones have weak spots, we make ours extremely noticeable.
"That's everything we can do to make every customer happy, but the data supports the fact that the iPhone 4 is the best smartphone in the world. There is no 'antennagate,'" Jobs says.
